Never Fall into the Trap of the False Opposites, Not for Any Reason

It was noted in the introduction to yesterday’s commentary, “Pope Trump” Has Much in Common with the Anti-Papabiles, President Donald John Trump is a comedian and an entertainer. He loves the spotlight and revels in being outrageous no matter what anyone thinks. He knows that he has a constituency that eats up his antics and thus will not pay attention when he does or says anything that his devoted followers would never tolerate in a less talented, charismatic political showman.

However, political showmanship, no matter how entertaining it may be, is simply that, showmanship, which is a trick used by the adversary to distract otherwise sane, rational believing Catholics into dropping their guard down because one naturalist is attempt to undo the evils advanced by another naturalist while some of the evils advanced by the “bad” naturalist get institutionalized and become more and more accepted by the multitudes. This is the trap of the false opposites of naturalism that I have been attempting to warn readers about for over three decades in my writing career and, before that and concurrent with it for a time, my college teaching career, evidently to little or no effect in human terms.

Undeterred, though, I am here to remind whoever reads my articles that the advancement of the common temporal good in the religiously indifferentist civil state is merely ephemeral as whatever advances in the pursuit of naturally just ends always hang on the slender threats of instable and thus mercurial winds of “popular sovereignty.” Indeed, our political system is so unstable given the errors upon it is founded that continue to needlessly divide people on issues that are not up for public debate or "decision" that the curent president is just the loss of a few seats in the House of Representatives away from having the final two years of his term in office charcterized by endless efforts to impeach him. Such are the slender threats of pluralism and religious indifferentism.

Therefore, for those with short memories or who have permitted themselves to get caught up in the Manichean illusion of good being with one set of naturalists and evil with the other, here is what I mean when I refer to the false opposites of naturalism:

The adherents of both the organized crime families of the “left” and of the “right” are completely agreed on the belief that it is unnecessary to make any public recognition of the Incarnation, Nativity, Passion, Death and Resurrection of the Second Person of the Most Blessed Trinity made Man in Our Lady’s Virginal and Immaculate Womb by the power of the Third Person of the Most Blessed Trinity, God the Holy Ghost, or to be submissive in all that pertains to the good of souls to the teaching authority of the Catholic Church. The adherents of the “left” and of the “right” agree that men can be virtuous without belief in, access to and cooperation with Sanctifying Grace.

Even though President Trump has undertaken many commendable initiatives, especially to secure the southern border of the United States of America and to deport illegal immigrants who, apart from having broken the law by entering the country illegally, have committed violent crimes, he remains committed to the false principle of the sovereignty of “mutable will of the people” with respect the inviolability of innocent human life and to his unqualified support for the ongoing Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people that continues to be cheered on by allegedly “pro-life
politicians (see Dr. Patrick Delaney’s analysis in 'Pro-life' GOP starving 1 million children to death in Gaza, USCCB remains silent. A note to Dr. Delaney: the USCCB is silent because of one simple reason: Fear of the Jews. The robber council was a Talmudic production from beginning to end.). We must be willing to see the world through the eyes of the true Faith and not be deceived by the adversary into thinking that the fact that “something good” is being done negates the evil that the “better” naturalist supports in complete unity with the “worse” naturalists.

For example, here is a summary of President Trump’s stated positions on matters pertaining to the inviolability of innocent human life in the past three years:

1. a firmly stated belief that there must all legislation to restrict the surgical assassination of the innocent preborn must include “exceptions” even though the civil law can never justly permit the direct, intentional killing of any innocent human being.
2. A firmly stated belief that opposition to “exceptions” is “harsh” and “extreme.”
3. A firmly stated opposition to all “heartbeat bills,” which happen to be immoral for reasons discussed nearly three years ago in The Supreme Masters of Sophistry: Unable to Admit the Fifth Commandment Exists.
4. A firmly stated opposition to enforcing that part of the United States Code that prohibits the mailing of the human pesticide, abortion pills.
5. A firmly stated belief that the killing of the innocent preborn is a matter of the “Mutable Will of the People" and thus has nothing to do with rendering complete obedience to the immutable will of God.
6. A firmly stated support for in vitro fertilization (see Your "Pro-Life" President is At It Again) that he has repeated time and time again, not that it matters to Kamala Harris Emhoff or Timothy James Walz.
7. A firmly stated belief that the issue of the surgical execution of innocent preborn children is a “small” issue (see Baby Butchery is Not A "Small Issue" to Christ the King).
8. A firmly stated belief that “everyone” wanted the issue of surgical baby-killing to be “returned to the people,” a delusional falsehood as there would never have been any controversy at all over the Dobbs decision if “everyone” wanted Roe v. Wade overturned.

Donald John Trump has, by taking these positions, repositioned the “official” “conservative” position about baby butchery that is being adopted by many of his Congressional supporters, including the Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary of the United States House of Representatives, James Jordan (R-Ohio). This "repositioning" was praised as follows by a commentator named David Sacks:

On the one issue where Democrats had an advantage, abortion, Trump deftly got ahead of the issue by rejecting a national ban and removing problematic language from the GOP platform. Harris wore out the issue by blatantly lying about Trump’s position and by exhibiting her own party’s extremism (nobody needed to see an abortion truck at the DNC). i. As noted in the past, Donald John Trump has thus accomplished what the likes of Lee Atwater (before his conversion to Catholicism), Richard Bond, Robert Joseph Dole, Jr., and many other Republicans sought and failed to accomplish: namely, the removal of the life issue from Republican campaigns as candidates show their fealty to the former president and not to Christ the King.

By taking these positions, therefore, President Donald John Trump has said, in effect, that he is done with the “cultural issues” and will focus on making America “great” while living quite comfortably with the daily slaughter of the innocent preborn, which his third wife, Melania Knauss Trump, supports without restriction, reservation, or qualification (see First Ladies of Baby Butchery.)

Well, Donald John Trump is putting into action what he has been preaching since the 2022 elections by jettisoning all Federal efforts to protect the innocent preborn, admitting that he will probably provide for conscientious objections for physicians and other care professionals to exempt them from violating their consciences concerning contraception, abortion sterilization, and in vitro fertilization. However, that is not good enough to advance the common temporal good.

Former President Donald Trump made promises in 2024 and now, as President Donald John Trump, he is keeping them:

Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley criticized Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Marty Makary for his recent comments about the dangerous abortion pills.

Dr. Makary said he has “no plans to take action” on the abortion drugs during a discussion Thursday at the Semafor World Economic Summit.

However, Semafor reported that the FDA may still act.

“There is an ongoing set of data that is coming into the FDA on mifepristone,” he said. “So if the data suggests something or tells us that there’s a real signal, we can’t promise we’re not going to act on that data.”

“This is exceptionally disappointing to say the least. Not a good beginning at the FDA,” Sen. Hawley wrote in response on X.

Other conservatives were also critical of Makary’s comments.

“The abortion pill is not safe for the mother, or the baby,” Daily Signal correspondent Elizabeth Mitchell wrote on X. “The ER visitation rate for abortion complications appears to have increased since the FDA removed guardrails on the pill.”

During his confirmation hearing last month, Makary pledged a review of abortion pills, vaccines, and food ingredients, as LifeSiteNews previously reported. The Johns Hopkins University surgeon and former editor-in-chief of MedPage Today drew interest from conservatives due to his criticism of lockdown policies during COVID.

On the subject of abortion pills, which new Health & Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says Trump has asked him to study the dangers of, Makary claimed he has “no preconceived plans” but to “take a solid, hard look at the data and to meet with the professional career scientists who have reviewed the data at the FDA, and to build an expert coalition to review the ongoing data which is required to be collected as a part of the REMS [Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy] program.”

Hawley voted to advance Makary’s nomination out of committee following the FDA’s decision to fire an attorney who had defended vaccine mandates and the Biden administration’s decision to loosen safety regulations around abortion pills. Although there has always been evidence that the human pesticide has been unsafe for women, this fact, which is always being buttressed by various studies (see 11% of women who take abortion pill suffer serious adverse events, largest known study finds), is entirely irrelevant to its inherent immorality as the human pesticide is one hundred percent deadly to preborn babies and to the immortal souls of their mothers. That is what matters in the eyes of the true God of Divine Revelation, the Most Holy Trinity, and thus this is what must matter to us as Catholics.

Yet we are now in the thirteenth year since 2000 of a Republican presidential administration where two different and, on many issues, diametrically opposed men, the dunderhead, neoconservative war hawk and profligate spender named George Walker Bush and Donald John “Mutable Will of the People” Trump have refused to reverse the marketing of the human pesticide that was authorized by the United States Food and Drug Administration in the presidency of William Jefferson Blythe Clinton on September 28, 2000.

This is what then Governor of Texas George Walker Bush said in his October 3, 2000, presidential debate with then Vice President Albert Arnold Gore, Jr., in Saint Louis, Missouri:

BUSH: I don't think a president can unilaterally overturn it. The FDA has made its decision.

MODERATOR: That means you wouldn't, through appointments, to the FDA and ask them to --

BUSH: I think once a decision has been made, it's been made unless it's proven to be unsafe to women.

GORE: Jim, the question you asked, if I heard you correctly, was would he support legislation to overturn it. And if I heard the statement day before yesterday, you said you would order -- he said he would order his FDA appointee to review the decision. Now that sounds to me a little bit different. I just think that we ought to support the decision.

BUSH: I said I would make sure that women would be safe who used the drug.  (2000 Debate Transcript) [Droleskey comment: Uh, Mister Former Warmongering, Mass Murdering, Dopey President, the President of the United States of America can make appointments to the Food and Drug Administration who could indeed overturn such a decision by means of an administrative fiat. Moreover, the human pesticide, RU-486, is lethal to babies, Mister Former President.]

George Walker Bush’s first Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tommy Thompson, a Catholic, did nothing to demand the reversal of the decision made by the FDA during the final few months of his predecessor, Donna Shalala, who is a Maronite Rite Catholic, I would like to remind those with short memories. Tommy Thompson, who had been Governor of Wisconsin from January 5, 1987, to February 1, 2001, thereby helped to institutionalize the human pesticide as an ordinary part of the repertoire of available pills by which innocent preborn babies could be killed.

Here is what Mrs. Judie Brown said when Thompson said in his Senate confirmation hearings that he had heard nothing about the lethal effects of RU-486 (despite the fact that women have died and that the poison pill is absolutely deadly for innocent preborn children:

WASHINGTON, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- "Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson has denied the undeniable, and endorsed a chemical nightmare,"  said Judie Brown, president of American Life League.

On one of the nation's largest television news networks, Thompson said  "nobody has ... said that RU-486 is unsafe" (The Edge with Paula Zahn, FOX  News Channel, 4/17/01).   Thompson's statement is a direct contradiction of his previous promises to investigate the health risks of the RU-486 abortion  regimen, and it also flies in the face of congressional concerns.

Thompson said, "Until somebody calls in and says that it's unsafe or that it's something that has caused problems for -- for women, we will not be reviewing it, just like any other drug.  It's the same as other drugs that  have been approved.  And it has been approved in America, and therefore, until  it's proven or has any suggestion that it's unsafe, it will not be reviewed."

"For the record, Mr. Thompson," said Brown, "RU-486 always kills a preborn person, and FDA documents indicate that the second chemical in the RU-486  abortion regimen has caused cardiac failure, coronary artery occlusion, uterine perforation, uterine rupture, and on and on."  

Brown said RU-486 is a chemical killer. "Mr. Thompson, don't pretend that  you do not know this," she said.  "It is killing innocent preborn children, and it can kill women. Distribution of RU-486 must be halted immediately." (Tommy Thompson Endorses Human Pesticide, RU-486.)

Yes, yes, yes. The "pro-life" George Walker Bush administration. Yes, yes, yes.

This is one of the reasons that my eyes rolled and my blood pressure reached the boiling point at times in the first decade of the current century as sleepy, uninformed Catholics spoke in glowing terms of the “pro-life” Bush administration. George Walker Bush’s administration helped to institutionalize baby-killing just as much as had his predecessor, William Jefferson Blythe Clinton, had done. Those who did not see this during the Bush 43 administration permitted themselves to be lulled to sleep as they lived in fear of the supposedly "greater evil" that lurked always around the corner. Tell me, please, how the supposedly pro-life Catholic, Tommy Thompson was any different than his pro-abortion Catholic predecessor, Donna Shalala?

As far as I can remember—and my memory is still decent on such matters, no “bishop” of the counterfeit church of conciliarism ever upbraided Donna Shalala for her role in presiding over the Food and Drug Administration’s testing of RU-486 in the 1990s or for her decision to approve the FDA’s finding for its marketing on September 28, 2000, and no conciliar “bishop” in this country ever reprimanded Tommy Thompson for his refusal to reverse Shalala’s decision. Many of the American conciliar “bishops” have long, long enabled pro-aborts in the organized crime family of the false opposite of the naturalist “left,” and others among their apostate numbers have long, long provided cover for phony “pro-life” politicians in the organized crime family of the false opposite naturalist “right.”

Yes, baby-killing, whether by chemical or surgical means, has been enabled by the lords of conciliarism in the United States of America and throughout the rest of the world. Whatever “pro-life” rhetoric some of them used in the past was just as empty as that of the politicians with whom they have been aligned. This empty rhetoric—and the lack of sanctions imposed upon pro-abortion public officials—contributed mightily to creating a political and legal environment in which the chemical and surgical killing of the innocent preborn has become such an accepted fact of life that even supposed “pro-life” politicians take refuge in the “impossibility” of changing the law as to do so would to be anger a large number of voters. One can anger God, but one cannot anger voters in our Judeo-Masonic world of naturalism and Modernism.

It is furthermore the case that President Donald John Trump is keeping his word to make it easier for women to use the profit-making immoral, baby-killing practice of in vitro fertilization according to an executive order he issued three months ago:

 Section 1.  Purpose and Policy.  Today, many hopeful couples dream of starting a family, but as many as one in seven are unable to conceive a child.  Despite their hopes and efforts, infertility struggles can make conception difficult, turning what should be a joyful experience into an emotional and financial struggle.  My Administration recognizes the importance of family formation, and as a Nation, our public policy must make it easier for loving and longing mothers and fathers to have children.

     In vitro fertilization (IVF) offers hope to men and women experiencing fertility challenges.  Americans need reliable access to IVF and more affordable treatment options, as the cost per cycle can range from $12,000 to $25,000.  Providing support, awareness, and access to affordable fertility treatments can help these families navigate their path to parenthood with hope and confidence.
     Therefore, to support American families, it is the policy of my Administration to ensure reliable access to IVF treatment, including by easing unnecessary statutory or regulatory burdens to make IVF treatment drastically more affordable.

     Sec. 2.  Lowering Costs and Reducing Barriers to IVF.  Within 90 days of the date of this order, the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy shall submit to the President a list of policy recommendations on protecting IVF access and aggressively reducing out-of-pocket and health plan costs for IVF treatment.

     Sec. 3.  General Provisions.  (a)  Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

             (i)  the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or

             (ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

     (b)  This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

     (c)  This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person. This is a case of immoral promises made and kept.

Here is the text of the "pro-life" plank of the Republican Party platform that was adopted at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, seven months ago:

We proudly stand for families and Life.  We believe that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that no person can be denied Life or Liberty without Due Process, and that the States are, therefore, free to pass Laws protecting those Rights.  After 51 years, because of us, that power has been given to the States and to a vote of the People.  We will oppose Late Term Abortion, while supporting mothers and policies that advance Prenatal Care, access to Birth Control, and IVF (fertility treatments). What a dope.

What an incorrigible dope.

No one has a right to a child as they are gifts of God to be welcomed with generosity according to the means He has given them to continue the species. The conception of children is not to be prevented, and those who cannot have children are called to accept their cross with equanimity while considering the adoption of children and/or to seek the advice of a believing Catholic obstetrician/gynecologist in an effort to determine whether a case of infertility is medically or surgically remediable.

One can pray for the gift of children, but one can never take matters into their own hands by having recourse to monsters who make billions of dollars by defying God in the creation of human life artificially.

Former Commonwealth of Virginia Delegate Robert Marshall, who was the only public figure to stand fast in opposition to the execution by starvation and dehydration of Hugh Finn, a popular Louisville, Kentucky, news anchorman who was seriously injured in a car accident in early 1998, at the request of the wife Michele Finn and about which I wrote several articles in The Wanderer at the time, made a plea recently to President Trump to reconsider his support for the immoral practice of in vitro fertilization, citing not only religious and philosophical objections while explaining that there are proven natural methods to remedy infertility if it is God’s will for a married couple to have children, recognizing, as I noted just above, that those couples who must live with infertility can always adopt children or devote themselves more fully to the interior life and to the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy as so many in this situation have done (see Trump should reverse his support for dangerous IVF, which harms babies and mothers). Mr. Marshall’s plea makes references to conciliar documents but nowhere mentions the overriding reason upon which Catholics must oppose in vitro fertilization: it is opposed to God’s laws and thus offends Him as it injures the immortal souls of all who are involved in it.

Moreover, it should be noted that the use of contraception (remember, Most contraceptives abort, and most contraceptives abort most of the time”—the late Father Paul Marx. O.S.B., founder of Human Life International and Population Research Institute) can lead to infertility as it is never morally nor physically “safe” to defy the laws of God.

Thus, do not be fooled by bread-and-circus, dog-and-pony shows of naturalism as there is no shortcut to a just social order on any kind of naturalistic, ideological, or inter-denominational basis. Catholicism is the one and only basis of a just social order. There can never be a period of prolonged national prosperity or security on the blood of the innocent preborn as each of the other three sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance (the sin of Sodom, defrauding the widow, withholding the day laborer's wages) are committed under cover of the civil law and celebrately with a ready abandon in what passes for "popular culture" in a decadent society. Anyone who does not believe that this is so is quite foolishly mistaken and self-deceived.

As the Prophet Osee wrote:

Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel, for the Lord shall enter into judgment with the inhabitants of the land: for there is no truth, and there is no mercy, and there is no knowledge of God in the land.  2 Cursing, and lying, and killing, and theft, and adultery have overflowed, and blood hath touched blood.  3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth in it shall languish with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of the air: yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be gathered together. (Osee 4: 1-3.)

Pope Saint Pius X explained that one of the reason men are so gullible and hence, I would contend, to fall for the illusion of secular salvation, is because they are ignorant of the Sacred Deposit of Faith, which is why he exhorted Catholics to institute the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine programs in every Catholic parish and school around the world: 

At this very troublesome and difficult time, the hidden designs of God have conducted Our poor strength to the office of Supreme pastor, to rule the entire flock of Christ. The enemy has, indeed, long been prowling about the fold and attacking it with such subtle cunning that now, more than ever before, the prediction of the Apostle to the elders of the Church of Ephesus seems to be verified: "I know that . . . fierce wolves will get in among you, and will not spare the flock."[1] Those who still are zealous for the glory of God are seeking the causes and reasons for this decline in religion. Coming to a different explanation, each points out, according to his own view, a different plan for the protection and restoration of the kingdom of God on earth. But it seems to Us, Venerable Brethren, that while we should not overlook other considerations, We are forced to agree with those who hold that the chief cause of the present indifference and, as it were, infirmity of soul, and the serious evils that result from it, is to be found above all in ignorance of things divine. This is fully in accord with what God Himself declared through the Prophet Osee: "And there is no knowledge of God in the land. Cursing and lying and killing and theft and adultery have overflowed: and blood hath touched blood. Thereafter shall the land mourn, and everyone that dwelleth in it shall languish."[2]

2. It is a common complaint, unfortunately too well founded, that there are large numbers of Christians in our own time who are entirely ignorant of those truths necessary for salvation. And when we mention Christians, We refer not only to the masses or to those in the lower walks of life - for these find some excuse for their ignorance in the fact that the demands of their harsh employers hardly leave them time to take care of themselves or of their dear ones - but We refer to those especially who do not lack culture or talents and, indeed, are possessed of abundant knowledge regarding things of the world but live rashly and imprudently with regard to religion. It is hard to find words to describe how profound is the darkness in which they are engulfed and, what is most deplorable of all, how tranquilly they repose there. They rarely give thought to God, the Supreme Author and Ruler of all things, or to the teachings of the faith of Christ. They know nothing of the Incarnation of the Word of God, nothing of the perfect restoration of the human race which He accomplished. Grace, the greatest of the helps for attaining eternal things, the Holy Sacrifice and the Sacraments by which we obtain grace, are entirely unknown to them. They have no conception of the malice and baseness of sin; hence they show no anxiety to avoid sin or to renounce it. And so they arrive at life's end in such a condition that, lest all hope of salvation be lost, the priest is obliged to give in the last few moments of life a summary teaching of religion, a time which should be devoted to stimulating the soul to greater love for God. And even this as too often happens only when the dying man is not so sinfully ignorant as to look upon the ministration of the priest as useless, and then calmly faces the fearful passage to eternity without making his peace with God. And so Our Predecessor, Benedict XIV, had just cause to write: "We declare that a great number of those who are condemned to eternal punishment suffer that everlasting calamity because of ignorance of those mysteries of faith which must be known and believed in order to be numbered among the elect."[3]

3. There is then, Venerable Brethren, no reason for wonder that the corruption of morals and depravity of life is already so great, and ever increasingly greater, not only among uncivilized peoples but even in those very nations that are called Christian. The Apostle Paul, writing to the Ephesians, repeatedly admonished them in these words: "But immorality and every uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as become saints; or obscenity or foolish talk."[4] He also places the foundation of holiness and sound morals upon a knowledge of divine things - which holds in check evil desires: "See to it therefore, brethren, that you walk with care: not as unwise but as wise. . . Therefore, do not become foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is."[5] And rightly so. For the will of man retains but little of that divinely implanted love of virtue and righteousness by which it was, as it were, attracted strongly toward the real and not merely apparent good. Disordered by the stain of the first sin, and almost forgetful of God, its Author, it improperly turns every affection to a love of vanity and deceit. This erring will, blinded by its own evil desires, has need therefore of a guide to lead it back to the paths of justice whence it has so unfortunately strayed. The intellect itself is this guide, which need not be sought elsewhere, but is provided by nature itself. It is a guide, though, that, if it lack its companion light, the knowledge of divine things, will be only an instance of the blind leading the blind so that both will fall into the pit. The holy king David, praising God for the light of truth with which He had illumined the intellect, exclaimed: "The light of Thy countenance, O Lord, is signed upon us."[6] Then he described the effect of this light by adding: "Thou hast given gladness in my heart," gladness, that is, which enlarges our heart so that it runs in the way of God's Commandments. The men who control the world today are in the grip of the adversary. They are will filled with vanity and deceit, a deceit which leads the gullible who are looking for salvation in all the wrong places, to follow other human beings who are just as blind to things divine as they are, all with the result that they fall into a pit of deception and error here below as a foretaste of the fiery pit into which they fall when they die if they do not quit their sins, confess them to a true priest, and receive those wonderful words of absolution that pass from the lips of a true priest acting in persona Christi.

Those of us who are blessed to know and to adhere to the truth by means of the graces we receive in the holy sacraments cannot permit ourselves to be duped into wasting our time believing that men who are ignorant of divine things can contribute one little bit to the “betterment” of a nation or the world.

It is really as simple as this: anyone who does not know, love, and trust the August Queen of Heaven, Our Lady, and meditate upon the mysteries of our salvation contained within her Most Holy Rosary is prone to follow anything and everything except her Divine Son as He has revealed Himself to us exclusively through His Catholic Church.

We need to focus on the simple fact that time is short, and that eternity has no end. If we desire to go home to Heaven, we cannot permit ourselves to be deceived by vain who keep trying to convince us that we can advance spiritually in our own lives and/or socially in the world by tolerating this or that evil by convincing ourselves that the evil we tolerate, whether personally or socially, is not as “great” as some other evil or set of evils.

Please, do not fall into the trap of the false opposites of naturalism as to do so is to fall prey into the hands of the adversary himself.

In all the difficulties of these times, though, we must remember that we have nothing to fear as the graces won for us by the shedding of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and that flow into our hearts and souls through the loving hands of Our Lady, she who is the Mediatrix of All Graces, will be ever sufficient for us to carry whatever crosses in whatever circumstances of whatever time God has from all eternity appointed them to live and to work out their salvation in fear and in trembling.

The following prayers, found in The Raccolta, should fill us with peace in the midst of the difficult times in which we live:

Lord Jesus Christ, who didst say unto Thine Apostles: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I gve unto you,” regard not our sins but Thy merits, and grant unto Thy servants, that they whom the Almighty Father hath created and governeth, and whom Thou hast ordained unto everlasting life, may love one another with all their hearts for Thy sake, and may be made one in spirit and rejoice in Thy perpetual peace. Lord Jesus Christ, concerning whom the Prophet hath said: “And all kings of the earth shall adore Him, all nations shall serve Him,” extend thy reign upon the whole human race. O God, who art the author and lover of peace, in knowledge of whom is eternal life, whose service is a kingly state; defend us Thy humble servants from all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in Thy defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries. O merciful Queen of the Rosary of Pompeii, thou, the Seat of Wisdom, hast established a throne of fresh mercy in the land that once was pagan, in order to draw all nations to salvation by means of the chaplet of thy mystic roses: remember thy divine Son hath left us this saying: “Other sheep I have that are not of this fold; them also must I bring, and they shall hear  voice; and there shall be one fold, and one Shepherd.” Remember likewise that on Calvary thou didst become our Co-Redemptrix, by virtue of the crucifixion of Thy heart cooperating with Thy Crucified Son in the salvation of the world; and from that day thou didst become the Restorer of the human race, the Refuge of sinners, and the Mother of all mankind. Behold, dear Mother, how man souls are lost every hour! Behold, how countless millions of those who dwell in India, in China, and in barbarous regions do not yet know our Lord Jesus Christ! There is a whole lot of good, solid Catholic theology in the prayer just above.

Our Lady is the Co-Redemptrix of the human race.

Our Lady is the Seat of Wisdom.

Our Lady is our Refuge of Sinners.

Our Lady is the Treasurer of all the graces won for us by her Divine Son on the wood of the Holy Cross.

Our Lady is also our Immaculate Queen to whose Immaculate Heart has been entrusted the cause of world peace and the restoration of all things in her Divine Son, Christ the King, something that Pope Pius XII noted in his prayer consecrating the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, she who is the Queen of Heaven and Earth:

Queen of the most holy Rosary, help of Christians, refuge of the human race, victorious in all the battles of God, we prostrate ourselves in supplication before thy throne, in the sure hope of obtaining mercy and of receiving grace and timely aid in our present calamities, not through any merits of our own on which we do not rely, but only through the immense goodness of thy mother’s Heart. In Thee and in thy Immaculate Heart, at this grave hour of human history, do we put our trust; to thee we consecrate ourselves, not only with all of Holy Church, which is the mystical body of thy Son Jesus, and which is suffering in so many of her members, being persecuted, but also with the whole world, torn by discords, agitated with the hatred, the victim of its own iniquities. Be thou moved by the sight of such material and moral degradation, such sorrows, such anguish, so many tormented souls in danger of eternal loss! Do thou, O Mother of mercy, obtain for us from God a Christ-like reconciliation of the nations, as well as those graces which can convert the souls of men in an instant, those graces which prepare the way and make certain the long desired coming of peace on earth. The restoration of all things in Christ, a restoration that will include China, of course, will occur as a result of the fulfillment of her Fatima Message after the restoration of a true pope on the Throne of Saint Peter, which will occur miraculously at a time of God’s choosing. All we have to do is persist in our prayers as we maintain a joy-filled hope that we might, by virtue of the graces Our Lady sends to us, be able to plant a few seeds for the restoration of all things in Christ the King as a result of the Triumph of her own Immaculate Heart.
