Men Who Are At War With God By Means of Their Sins Will be At War With Each Other

At the root of all true hatred of human beings in the world is the devil's hatred of the true God of Divine Revelation, the Most Blessed Trinity. The adversary inspired Eve and, through her wiles, Adam, into disobeying God as they ate of the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Eden.

Original Sin disordered man's relationship with God. It disordered man's relationship with his fellow man. It even disrupted the balance and harmony of nature itself.

Each of the problems that we face in the world has Original Sin as its remote cause and the Actual Sins of men as its proximate cause. That is why, my good and few readers, who keep dwindling away, it appears, there is no electoral, political, economic, legal, constitutional, secular, naturalistic, ideological, or philosophical way to ameliorate the effects of fallen human nature. The state of the world depends upon the state of souls. Despite the fact that there will be disorder and disharmony in the world until the Second Coming of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at the end of time, the extent to which there is more order in the world at any given time is the result of the extent to which the very inner life of the Most Blessed Trinity, Sanctifying or Habitual Grace, dwells in the souls of men as they seek to make reparation for their sins and grow in virtue as members of the Catholic Church.

Once again, let me turn to Pope Saint Pius X and Pope Pius XI to drive home this fundamental point that so many Catholics all across and up and down the vast expanse of the ecclesiastical divide seem eager to ignore during the diabolical assaults that afflict their immortal souls every time the false opposites of naturalism engage in their mock contests that are called elections:

Here we have, founded by Catholics, an inter-denominational association that is to work for the reform of civilization, an undertaking which is above all religious in character; for there is no true civilization without a moral civilization, and no true moral civilization without the true religion: it is a proven truth, a historical fact. (Pope Saint Pius X, Notre Charge Apostolique, August 15, 1910.)

20. Every true and lasting reform has ultimately sprung from the sanctity of men who were driven by the love of God and of men. Generous, ready to stand to attention to any call from God, yet confident in themselves because confident in their vocation, they grew to the size of beacons and reformers. On the other hand, any reformatory zeal, which instead of springing from personal purity, flashes out of passion, has produced unrest instead of light, destruction instead of construction, and more than once set up evils worse than those it was out to remedy. No doubt "the Spirit breatheth where he will" (John iii. 8): "of stones He is able to raise men to prepare the way to his designs" (Matt. iii. 9). He chooses the instruments of His will according to His own plans, not those of men. But the Founder of the Church, who breathed her into existence at Pentecost, cannot disown the foundations as He laid them. Whoever is moved by the spirit of God, spontaneously adopts both outwardly and inwardly, the true attitude toward the Church, this sacred fruit from the tree of the cross, this gift from the Spirit of God, bestowed on Pentecost day to an erratic world. (Pope Pius XI, Mit Brennender Sorge, March 17, 1937.)

Yes, we must reform our own lives with every beat of our hearts, consecrated as they must be to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. In order to do this, of course, we love God as He has revealed Himself to us exclusively through His Catholic Church with our whole mind, our whole soul, our whole body, our whole heart and our whole strength. We must love others for love of Him, Who wills the good of all men, which is the salvation of their immortal souls as members of the Catholic Church.

To love God, therefore, we must hate what he hates.

God hates sin. So must we.

God hates heresy. So must we.

God hates falsehood any kind. So must we.

God hates false religions and has nothing to do with them. So must we.

To hate sin is not to hate the sinner.

To hate heresy is not to hate the heretic.

To hate falsehood is not to hate those who propagate it.

To hate false religions is not to hate those to adhere to them.

Catholics know all of this.

Granted.

Unfortunately, we live in a topsy-turvy world that is suffering the effects of the overthrow of the Social Reign of Christ the King wrought by the Protestant Revolution and the subsequent rise and triumph of Judeo-Masonry and its multiplicity of "ideas" that have enshrined naturalism as the foundation of personal and social life. Men fall prey to sentimentality and emotionalism, illogic and passion. They are prone to believe everything except the true religion, prone to make excuses for their own sins and to seek to enable family members and friends who are living lives of unrepentant sin.

As the devil hates God but knows that he cannot destroy Him, he wants to do the next best thing: to convince men to hate God and His Holy Church and the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law so that they will wind up hating themselves and their fellow men, becoming instruments of disorder and violence in the world.

Catholicism is not a panacea for personal and social order. Each of us is wounded by the vestigial after-effects of Original Sin and our own Actual Sins. The Middle Ages of Christendom was marked with various episodes of wars among Catholic kingdoms and even against popes themselves, The fact that individual Catholics fail to cooperate with the graces won for them on the wood of the Holy Cross by the shedding of every single drop of the Most Precious Blood of Christ the King, Our Divine Redeemer, and that flow into our hearts and souls through the loving hands of Our Lady, she who is the Mediatrix of All Graces, is to the discredit of individual Catholics who added to social disorder by means of their sins, not to the discredit of the Faith or any of Its immutable doctrines, including the Social Reign of Christ the King.

Pope Pius XII made this point in his first encyclical letter, Summi Pontificatus, October 10, 1939:

It is true that even when Europe had a cohesion of brotherhood through identical ideals gathered from Christian preaching, she was not free from divisions, convulsions and wars which laid her waste; but perhaps they never felt the intense pessimism of today as to the possibility of settling them, for they had then an effective moral sense of the just and of the unjust, of the lawful and of the unlawful, which, by restraining outbreaks of passion, left the way open to an honorable settlement. In Our days, on the contrary, dissensions come not only from the surge of rebellious passion, but also from a deep spiritual crisis which has overthrown the sound principles of private and public morality. (Pope Pius XII, Summi Pontificatus, October 10, 1939.)

The errors of pluralism have divided people needlessly into warring camps as a permanently established political class, composed of competing sets of naturalists, each of which believes that the Incarnation of the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity in the Virginal and Immaculate Womb of His Most Blessed Mother by the power of the Third Person of the Most Blessed Trinity, God the Holy Ghost at the Annunciation is, at best, a matter of complete indifference to personal and social order. So many Americans live from election to election, always believing that "change," whether it be in the direction of "progress" for naturalists of the "left" or in the direction of "constitutionalism" or "liberty" or "limited government" for naturalists of the "right." Paganism and barbarism have risen to the forefront as people still fight battles on a purely natural level that call to mind once again the following words of Pope Pius XI in Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922:

Men today do not act as Christians, as brothers, but as strangers, and even enemies. The sense of man's personal dignity and of the value of human life has been lost in the brutal domination begotten of might and mere superiority in numbers. Many are intent on exploiting their neighbors solely for the purpose of enjoying more fully and on a larger scale the goods of this world. But they err grievously who have turned to the acquisition of material and temporal possessions and are forgetful of eternal and spiritual things, to the possession of which Jesus, Our Redeemer, by means of the Church, His living interpreter, calls mankind.

22. It is in the very nature of material objects that an inordinate desire for them becomes the root of every evil, of every discord, and in particular, of a lowering of the moral sense. On the one hand, things which are naturally base and vile can never give rise to noble aspirations in the human heart which was created by and for God alone and is restless until it finds repose in Him. On the other hand, material goods (and in this they differ greatly from those of the spirit which the more of them we possess the more remain to be acquired) the more they are divided among men the less each one has and, by consequence, what one man has another cannot possibly possess unless it be forcibly taken away from the first. Such being the case, worldly possessions can never satisfy all in equal manner nor give rise to a spirit of universal contentment, but must become perforce a source of division among men and of vexation of spirit, as even the Wise Man Solomon experienced: "Vanity of vanities, and vexation of spirit." (Ecclesiastes i, 2, 14)

23. The same effects which result from these evils among individuals may likewise be expected among nations. "From whence are wars and contentions among you?" asks the Apostle St. James. "Are they not hence from your concupiscences, which war in your members?" (James iv, 1, 2)

24. The inordinate desire for pleasure, concupiscence of the flesh, sows the fatal seeds of division not only among families but likewise among states; the inordinate desire for possessions, concupiscence of the eyes, inevitably turns into class warfare and into social egotism; the inordinate desire to rule or to domineer over others, pride of life, soon becomes mere party or factional rivalries, manifesting itself in constant displays of conflicting ambitions and ending in open rebellion, in the crime of lese majeste, and even in national parricide.

25. These unsuppressed desires, this inordinate love of the things of the world, are precisely the source of all international misunderstandings and rivalries, despite the fact that oftentimes men dare to maintain that acts prompted by such motives are excusable and even justifiable because, forsooth, they were performed for reasons of state or of the public good, or out of love for country. Patriotism -- the stimulus of so many virtues and of so many noble acts of heroism when kept within the bounds of the law of Christ -- becomes merely an occasion, an added incentive to grave injustice when true love of country is debased to the condition of an extreme nationalism, when we forget that all men are our brothers and members of the same great human family, that other nations have an equal right with us both to life and to prosperity, that it is never lawful nor even wise, to dissociate morality from the affairs of practical life, that, in the last analysis, it is "justice which exalteth a nation: but sin maketh nations miserable." (Proverbs xiv, 34)

26. Perhaps the advantages to one's family, city, or nation obtained in some such way as this may well appear to be a wonderful and great victory (this thought has been already expressed by St. Augustine), but in the end it turns out to be a very shallow thing, something rather to inspire us with the most fearful apprehensions of approaching ruin. "It is a happiness which appears beautiful but is brittle as glass. We must ever be on guard lest with horror we see it broken into a thousand pieces at the first touch." (St. Augustine de Civitate Dei, Book iv, Chap. 3)

27. There is over and above the absence of peace and the evils attendant on this absence, another deeper and more profound cause for present-day conditions. This cause was even beginning to show its head before the War and the terrible calamities consequent on that cataclysm should have proven a remedy for them if mankind had only taken the trouble to understand the real meaning of those terrible events. In the Holy Scriptures we read: "They that have forsaken the Lord, shall be consumed." (Isaias i, 28) No less well known are the words of the Divine Teacher, Jesus Christ, Who said: "Without me you can do nothing" (John xv, 5) and again, "He that gathereth not with me, scattereth." (Luke xi, 23)

28. These words of the Holy Bible have been fulfilled and are now at this very moment being fulfilled before our very eyes. Because men have forsaken God and Jesus Christ, they have sunk to the depths of evil. They waste their energies and consume their time and efforts in vain sterile attempts to find a remedy for these ills, but without even being successful in saving what little remains from the existing ruinIt was a quite general desire that both our laws and our governments should exist without recognizing God or Jesus Christ, on the theory that all authority comes from men, not from God. Because of such an assumption, these theorists fell very short of being able to bestow upon law not only those sanctions which it must possess but also that secure basis for the supreme criterion of justice which even a pagan philosopher like Cicero saw clearly could not be derived except from the divine law. (Pope Pius XI, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922.)

That last paragraph, number twenty-eight, says it all. The gist of the two hundred thirty-seven articles linked at the top of this article can be summarized in the following words written by Pope Pius XI nearly eighty-eight years ago:

They waste their energies and consume their time and efforts in vain sterile attempts to find a remedy for these ills, but without even being successful in saving what little remains from the existing ruin. (Pope Pius XI, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922.)

In a world that is not governed by the Social Reign of Christ the King, of course, our civil potentates respond to diabolically-inspired killings as those that have taken place in recent weeks in  Atlanta, Georgia, Boulder, Colorado, Bryan, Texas, Orange, California—and the tragically accidental shooting a black man in the City of Minneapolis, Minnesota, by a police officer who thought that she was firing a taser instead of a revolver—provide statists such as Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., more and more excuses to propose sterile “solutions” end these killings. Biden and the “woke” crowd for which he serves as so willing in the hopes that he can be this century’s “Franklin Delano Roosevelt” by ending all talk of “limited government” and for all claim that the remedy “remedy” for these killings is “gun control.”

Thus, it is that President in Name Only Biden United States President Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., announced last week that he was using the latest mass shootings as the excuse to issue and ‘executive action” on “gun control” as he said that “no constitutional amendment” is absolute:

We got a long way to go.  It always seems like we always have a long way to go.  But I also — today, we’re taking steps to confront not just the gun crisis, but what is actually a public health crisis.  Nothing — nothing I’m about to recommend in any way impinges on the Second Amendment.  They’re phony, arguments suggesting that these are Second Amendment rights at stake from what we’re talking about.

But no amendment — no amendment to the Constitution is absolute.  You can’t yell crowd — you can’t tell [yell]* “fire” in a crowded movie theater and call it freedom of speech.  From the very beginning, you couldn’t own any weapon you wanted to own.  From the very beginning that the Second Amendment existed, certain people weren’t allowed to have weapons.  So the idea is just bizarre to suggest that some of the things we’re recommending are contrary to the Constitution.

Gun violence in this country is an epidemic.  Let me say it again: Gun violence in this country is an epidemic, and it’s an international embarrassment.  (Applause.)

You know, we saw that again.  Last night, as I was coming to the Oval office, I got the word that, in South Carolina, a physician with his wife, two grandchildren, and a person working at his house was gunned down — all five.  So many people — so many of the people sitting here today know that well, unfortunately.  You know, they know what it’s like when the seconds change your life forever. (PINO Biden on Gun “Control”.)

Why should Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., consider mere words written by mere men in the year 1787 any more binding than he does the plain words of the Fifth Commandment, “Thou shalt not kill,” that prohibits the wanton, daily massacre of the innocent preborn that he has supported and has enabled consistently throughout his wretched career as a leech on the public treasury?

As has been noted so frequently on this site, the Constitution of the United States of America is defenseless against the plain misinterpretation and misapplication of the plain meaning of its text by legal positivists/statists/moral relativists/socialists/leftists/other nogoodniks as are the words of Holy Writ in the hands of Protestants (who are rationalists and thus rationalizers) and Modernists (who are rationalists and rationalizers in their own right).

There can be no consistent interpretation and application of the Constitution’s text because it admits of no higher authority than the text of its own words for their meaning, and it is the lack of any such higher authority that makes it as easy for legal positivists to believe in a “living constitution” into which they read whatever they want to suit the “changing times” as it is for Protestants, who reject the authority of Holy Mother Church altogether, to believing in a “living Bible” that can be interpreted at will to justify divorce and remarriage, contraception, abortion, sodomy, fornication, unbridled capitalism or socialism or communism or whatever else comes to the mind of the “individual believer” as seems “right” to his view of the “changing times.” And, obviously, this is how Modernists have created a “living liturgy” in light of a “living tradition” that makes a mockery of the immutability of God and of His Sacred Deposit of Faith.

In other words, the lords of Modernity in the world and of Modernism in the counterfeit church of conciliarism are as one in twisting language to suit their own shared and very much shared nefarious purposes.

Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., does not believe that Original Sin is the remote cause of all evils in the world, nor does he believe that the Actual Sins of men are the proximate cause of all the social evils, including the breakdown of the family caused by contraception that has led to the sort of social degeneration and the rise of abject degenerates such as Biden himself in all walks of life that was foretold by a secular source ninety years ago:

The Federal Council of Churches in America some time ago appointed a committee on “marriage and the home,” which has now submitted a report favoring a “careful and restrained” use of contraceptive devices to regulate the size of families. The committee seems to have a serious struggle with itself in adhering to Christian doctrine while at the same time indulging in amateurish excursions in the field of economics, legislation, medicine, and sociology. The resulting report is a mixture of religious obscurantism and modernistic materialism which departs from the ancient standards of religion and yet fails to blaze a path toward something better.

The mischief that would result from an an attempt to place the stamp of church approval upon any scheme for “regulating the size of families” is evidently quite beyond the comprehension of this pseudo-scientific committee. It is impossible to reconcile the doctrine of the divine institution of marriage with any modernistic plan for the mechanical regulation of human birth. The church must either reject the plain teachings of the Bible or reject schemes for the “scientific” production of human souls. Carried to its logical conclusion, the committee’s report if carried into effect would lead to the death-knell of marriage as a holy institution, by establishing degrading practices which would encourage indiscriminate immorality. The suggestion that the use of legalized contraceptives would be “careful and restrained” is preposterous. If the churches are to become organizations for political and ‘scientific’ propaganda they should be honest and reject the Bible, scoff at Christ as an obsolete and unscientific teacher, and strike out boldly as champions of politics and science as substitutes for the old-time religion. (“Forgetting Religion,” Editorial, The Washington Post, March 22, 1933.)

The rise of violence in general, whether by guns, bombs, knives, beatings, and the sort of slashings taking place on a regular basis in the City of New York, to say nothing of the continued violence in such places as Baltimore, Maryland, and the gang shootings in Chicago, Illinois, and Los Angeles, California, is attributable to the breakdown of families caused by contraception. The frustration of the end for which God gave men the means to continue to species has led to divorce and thus the destabilization of family life, which has led in turn to the feminization of poverty and the rise of abandoned children who know not the love of the true God of Divine Revelation because they have never known the true love provided in a stable family environment shaped by parents immersed in the truths of the Holy Faith.

Contraception, having separated the end for which God gave men the means to continue the species, led to the rise of selfishness, narcissism, and a hedonism that would make some of the hedonists of ancient Greece and Rome blush with shame. Carnal gratification was pushed by “educators” in so-called “sex education” programs as the only end for which men live in wanton pursuit, and these indoctrination programs have so thoroughly corrupted innocent young minds that the so-called “entertainment” industry found an excuse to ignore the Legion of Decency and make trillions upon trillions of dollars by catering to men’s basest instincts. It is not enough to say that we live in a land rife with paganism as we are really face-to-face with a barbarism that knows no limits, a barbarism that is entrenched in almost every walk of life today and has opened a path wide for occultism, satanism and the vices closely associated with these wretched sins against the First Commandment, sodomy. One readily opens the door wide for all manner of vices once one sees fit to have strange gods before him, whether those gods be the belly, carnal lust, materialism, a quest for fame, recognition, and approval from others or to engage in killing just for the “sport” of doing so.

As has been noted so frequently on this site, the decriminalization of baby-killing in various states in the 1960s gave hope to the modern Aztecs in white coats with degrees in medicine to begin the vivisection of living human beings to create the profit-making industry of “organ transplantation,” which became so popular within the medical community that a committee at Harvard University’s School of Medicine invented what has become the ever-expanding euphemism of “brain death” as the pretext for the shedding the blood of the innocent with or without their “consent” in the name of “giving the gift of life” when it has all about the money, the money, and the money.

The created by the Protestant Revolution’s overthrow of the Social Reign of Christ the King and the subsequent rise and institutionalization of Judeo-Masonry’s naturalism as the founder of all secular governance has produced a world bereft of any sense of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour’s Redemptive Act on the wood of the Holy Cross on Good Friday. Protestants have long rejected any need for redemptive suffering, a concept that Jorge Mario Bergoglio himself rejects, of course, and our modern pagans and barbarians see no reason to keep “useless eaters” alive and that it is “compassionate” to kill people off via “palliative care”/hospice, infanticide after birth, “assisted suicide,” outright suicide and open euthanasia.

Innocent blood flows freely in this country and around the so-called “civilized world,” and all of Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr.’s attempts to do end-runs around the Second Amendment can never stop the torrent of this bloodshed that has reach such a nadir that there are more and more people who kill their own relatives as well as complete strangers than ever before in human history. The total of innocent babies killed in the United States of America alone since 1973 stands an estimated 62,783,844. The worldwide total since 1980 is estimated to 1,611,178,308 (see Number of Abortions). This is open genocide of innocent human beings whose own “crime” was to have been conceived. Biden supports this genocide and yet he bewails what he calls an “epidemic” of gun violence without seeing any connection between the dehumanization of little babies and the dehumanization of everyone else after birth.

Then again, the common path taken by President In Name Only (PINO) Biden and Jorge Mario Bergoglio deifies the world and defiles the sacredness of the true God of Divine Revelation and everything associated with the Holy Faith.

Modernity has produced a veritable bloodbath of victims, including the unseen victims of the chemical and surgical abortions and, as noted last month (see Chronicling the Adversary's Global Takeover of the Healthcare Industry, which is included as in Life, Death, and Truth: Under Attack by Medicine and Law), the untold tens of millions of innocent human beings who are being killed in hospitals, hospices, nursing homes and even in their own homes.

Having been fed a steady diet of lies designed to incite hatred and violence from the time of Martin Luther in the German states and that of Henry VIII’s bloody revolution against the true Faith in England seventeen years later, each succeeding epoch has produced more and more bloodshed. Even excluding the daily worldwide carnage of the innocent preborn, more innocent human beings died as result of wars and state-sponsored genocides in the Twentieth Century than in all of recorded history up to that point. The bloodshed continues unabated now in the year of the third decade of the Twenty-first Century.

We are living in a world wrought by Protestantism and Judeo-Masonry, the world of anti-Catholic liberalism described by Father Felix Sarda y Salvany, a Spanish priest, in What Is Liberalism?, which was translated and published in the United States of America in 1899, that the spirit of Protestantism leads to the toleration of error. The United States of America is founded upon a toleration of error, is it not?

Of course, it is, and such a toleration of error results in its own turn in the false belief that error can serve as the foundation of social order. This which is why so many people look to the false opposite of the naturalist “right,” replete with its own Pelagian errors of human self-redemption and religious indifferentism, to “fight” the errors of the “left” only to crushed repeatedly by when all their schemes fail to provide any kind of “check” upon the triumph of leftist totalitarianism and the evils associated therewith. We must understand root causes while also recognizing that the lords of Modernism are shaped by the same fundamental errors as the lords of Modernity, which is why men such as Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., and Jorge Mario Bergoglio are as one in their support of the same moral evils as foundations of public life in the name of “human rights,” social justice” and, for Bergoglio, “mercy.”

Please consider the passage below from Father Felix Sarda y Salvany’s What is Liberalism? as an antidote to the erroneous belief held by even so many traditional Catholics that there is some kind of “naturalistic” way to fight the evils of the day and to “fight” false shepherds who, though they may occupy the buildings and institutions of the Catholic Church, are nothing other than leaders of an anti-Catholic religious sect:

Protestantism naturally begets toleration of error. Rejecting the principle of authority in religion, it has neither criterion nor definition of faith. On the principle that every individual or sect may interpret the deposit of Revelation according to the dictates of private judgment, it gives birth to endless differences and contradictions. Impelled by the law of its own impotence, through lack of any decisive voice of authority in matters of faith, it is forced to recognize as valid and orthodox any belief that springs from the exercise of private judgment. Therefore does it finally arrive, by force of its own premises, at the conclusion that one creed is as good as another; it then seeks to shelter its inconsistency under the false plea of liberty of conscience. Belief is not imposed by a legitimately and divinely constituted authority, but springs directly and freely from the unrestricted exercise of the individual’s reason or caprice upon the subject-matter of Revelation. The individual or the sect interprets as it pleases–rejecting or accepting what it chooses. This is popularly called liberty of conscience. Accepting this principle, Infidelity, on the same plea, rejects all Revelation, and Protestantism, which handed over the premise, is powerless to protest against the conclusion; for it is clearer that one who, under the plea of rational liberty, has the right to repudiate any part of Revelation that may displease him, cannot logically quarrel with one who, on the plea of rational liberty, on the same plea, no creed is as good as any. Taking the field with this fatal weapon of Rationalism, Infidelity has stormed and taken the very citadel of Protestantism, helpless against the foe of its own making.

As a result, we find amongst the people of this country [Spain] (excepting well formed Catholics, of course) that authoritative and positive religion has met with utter disaster and that religious beliefs or unbeliefs have come to be mere matters of opinion, wherein there are always essential differences, each one being free to make or unmake his own creed–or to accept no creed.

Such is the mainspring of the heresy constantly dinned into our ears, flooding our current literature and our press. It is against this that we have to be perpetually vigilant, the more so because it insidiously attacks us on the grounds of a false charity and in the name of a false liberty. Nor does it appeal to us only on the ground of religious toleration.

The principle ramifies in many directions, striking root into our domestic, civil, and political life, whose vigor and health depend upon the nourishing and sustaining power of religion. For religion is the bond which unites us to God, the Source and the End of all good; and Infidelity, whether virtual, as in Protestantism, or explicit, as in Agnosticism, severs the bond which binds men to God and seeks to build human society on the foundations of man’s absolute independence. Hence we find Liberalism laying down as the basis of its propaganda the following principles:

1. The absolute sovereignty of the individual in his entire independence of God and God’s authority.

2. The absolute sovereignty of society in its entire independence of everything which does not proceed from itself.

3. Absolute civil sovereignty in the implied right of the people to make their own laws in entire independence and utter disregard of any other criterion than the popular will expressed at the polls and in parliamentary majorities.

4. Absolute freedom of thought in politics, morals, or in religion. The unrestrained liberty of the press.

Such are the radical principles of Liberalism. In the assumption of the absolute sovereignty of the individual, that is, his entire independence of God, we find the common source of all others. To express them all in one term, they are, in the order of ideas, Rationalism, or the doctrine of the absolute sovereignty of human reason. Here human reason is made the measure and sum of truth. Hence we have individual, social, and political Rationalism, the corrupt fountainhead of liberalist principles [which are]: absolute worship, the supremacy of the State, secular education repudiating any connection with religion, marriage sanctioned and legitimatized by the State alone, etc; in one word, which synthesizes all, we have Secularization, which denies religion any active intervention in the concerns of public and of private life, whatever they be. This is veritable social atheism.

Such is the source of liberalism in the order of ideas; such in consequences of our Protestant and infidel surroundings, is the intellectual atmosphere which we are perpetually breathing into our souls. Nor do these principles remain simply in the speculative order, poised forever in the region of thought. Men are not mere contemplatives. Doctrines and beliefs inevitably precipitate themselves into action. The speculation of today becomes the deed of tomorrow, for men, by force of the law of their nature, are ever acting out what they think. Rationalism, therefore, takes concrete shape in the order of facts. It finds palpable expression and action in the press, in legislation, and in social life. The secular press reeks with it, proclaiming with almost unanimous vociferation, absolute division between public life and religion. It has become the shibboleth of journalism, and the editor who will not recognize it in his daily screed soon feels the dagger of popular disapproval. In secularized marriage and in our divorce laws, it cleaves the very roots of domestic society; in secularized education, the cardinal principle of our public school system, it propagates itself in the hearts of the future citizens and the future parents; in compulsory school laws, it forces in the entering wedge of socialism; in the speech and intercourse of social life, it is constantly asserting itself with growing reiteration; in secret societies, organized in a spirit destructive of religion and often for the express purpose of exterminating Catholicity, it menaces our institutions and places the country in the hands of conspirators, whose methods and designs, beyond the reach of the public eye, constitute a tyranny of darkness.

In a thousand ways does the principle of Rationalism find its action and expression in social and civil life, and however diversified be its manifestation, there is in it always a unity and a system of opposition to Catholicity. Whether concerted or not, it ever acts in the same direction, and whatever special school within the genus of Liberalism professes it or puts it into action–be it in society, in domestic life, or in politics–the same essential characteristics will be found in all its protean shapes–opposition to the Church–and it will ever be found stigmatizing the most ardent defenders of the Faith as reactionaries, clericals, Ultramntanes [See p. 92, par. 1], etc.

Wherever found, whatever its uniform, Liberalism in its practical action is ever a systematic warfare against the Church. Whether it intrigue, whether it legislate, whether it orate or assassinate, whether it call itself Liberty or Government or the State of Humanity or Reason, or whatnot, its fundamental characteristic is an uncompromising opposition to the Church.

Liberalism is a world complete in itself; it has its maxims, its fashions, its art, its literature, its diplomacy, its laws, its conspiracies, its ambuscades. It is the world of Lucifer, disguised in our times under the name of Liberalism, in radical opposition and in perpetual warfare against that society composed of the Children of God, the Church of Jesus Christ. (Father Felix Sarda y Salvany, Liberalism Is A Sin, republished by TAN Books and Publishers, pp. 8-13; translated and adapted by Conde B. Pallen, Ph.D., LL.D., and published originally by B. Herder Book Company, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1899 under the title of What Is Liberalism?)

This describes both the letter and the "spirit" of the "Second" Vatican Council and the "magisterium" of the conciliar "popes," including Jorge Mario Bergoglio and his band of Jacobin/Bolshevik comrades. The sole determinant for morality and pastoral "action" is a false sense of "mercy" based upon doing nothing to disturb the "delicate consciences" of those steeped in sins against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments, something that makes perfect logic when one considers the fact that the conciliar revolutionaries violate the first three Commandments with impunity on a regular basis.

The bloodletting PINO Biden descries has been made possible the bloodletting he has supported throughout the course of the past half century of public disservice.  Verbal or physical assaults against innocent citizens for holding beliefs contrary to the decrees of the high priests and priestesses of the anti-Incarnational civil state of Modernity cannot be stopped by means merely natural. No call to “civility” or “unity” is going to succeed. Catholicism—and Catholicism alone—is the only foundation of order within the souls of men and hence of a truly well-ordered sense of justice within nations and among them.

Personal and social disaster cannot but be the result of such a brew of error. Men resort more and more to violence today because they do not know of the tender mercies of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. They do not know that they have a Blessed Mother who made possible their salvation by her perfect fiat to the will of God the father at the Annunciation. They do not realize that the supernatural helps they need to overcome all sin in their lives and to pray for the conversion of those who are promoting evil in society flow through the loving hands of that same Blessed Mother, who gave the Rosary with her own blessed hands to Saint Dominic de Guzman so that we could be more closely united to her Divine Son, Christ the King, through the mysteries contained in her psalter, the Rosary.

The spate of recent shootings (Atlanta, Georgia, Boulder, Colorado, Orange, California, Bryan, Texas) that have taken place in recent weeks are the result of the triumph of a nihilism that has reduced human life to nothing other the pursuit of material and carnal pleasures and thus reduced rational men into self-hating barbarians when things do not go their way. Innocent blood must be spilled when men are unable to accept the crosses that God in His Divine Providence puts into their lives and thus come to consider other human beings, who they do not realize are made in His own very image and likeness because they do not see themselves as redeemed creatures in need of acting in accord with the Ten Commandments, as objects to be eradicated at will. Those steeped in their own unforgiven sins and trapped in the abyss that is modern life with all its bread and circuses will come to fantasize about the killing of others as they have been inspired by the adversary to be as filled with hate for them as he, adversary, is for God and thus for His rational creatures.

Most men today do not realize that there is nothing that any of us can suffer, whether personally or socially, that is equal of what one of our least Venial Sins caused Our Lord to suffer in His Sacred Humanity on the wood of the Holy Cross and that caused those Seven Swords to be thrust through and through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. They tend, therefore, to dwell on their own pain, whether real or imagined, and to stew in their own juices as they conjure up hatred for their fellow human beings, each of whom is made in the image and likeness of the Most Blessed Trinity and for whose salvation we must pray fervently as one of the Spiritual Works of Mercy.

Living in a world that has been deprived of a superabundance of Sanctifying and Actual Graces as a result of the barren liturgical rites of the counterfeit church of conciliarism, most men today are "catechized" by television or the internet or what passes for "entertainment" in popular culture. They are tossed about from one thing to another without having any clear, coherent understanding of their identity as redeemed creatures and that each of us will have to make an accounting of our lives at the moment of our Particular Judgments. Men who lack the Catholic Faith, you see, must descend more and more into a coarseness of life and culture that produces a class of neo-barbarians who are not only at the gates but who are well inside of the fort of the city.

We are living a world that was born of Modernity’s bloody revolution against the true Church five hundred years ago and has been nurtured and sustained in blood as one social revolution after another has based its particular prescriptions for a “just world” on hate.

Hatred of God.

Hatred of His true Church.

Hatred of those who profess the Holy Faith publicly.

Hatred of anyone who refuses to submit to the Judeo-Masonic “new world order” that was made possible by Martin Luther’s Protestant Revolution five centuries ago.

Catholic kingdoms were once ruled by men whose personal holiness and virtuous pursuit of justice were such that Holy Mother Church raised them to her very altars as canonized saints.

Although attention on this site has been given to the likes of Saint Edward the Confessor, Saint Louis IX, King of France, Saint Casimir, Saint Henry the Emperor, Saint Stephen the Hungary and Saint Canute, among others, it is instructive to contrast the chaos, hatred and violence of the present moment with the example of the King of Castile and Leon, Saint Ferdinand III, a first cousin of Saint Louis IX, who always understood that he had to rule in a manner befitting Christ the King, to whom he would have to make an accounting for his stewardship over his subjects.

King Saint Ferdinand III was born in 1199, precisely one hundred years after the death of his famous ancestor, Rodrigo Diaz—El Cid, and God favored him with many important victories over political rivals in other Spanish kingdoms and, of course, against the Moors themselves. It was King Saint Ferdinand III who captured Cordoba in 1236 for Christ the King and His true Church.

In all conflicts, however, the only thing that mattered to King Saint Ferdinand III was to do the will of God and to restrain his own passions so that everything he did would be of God. He sought only the honor and glory of God, not his own.

Moreover, he sought to establish a just rule of law after he had conquered Seville on December 22, 1248, that was modeled on the one had had promulgated in Toledo. As one can see in the text quoted below, Saint Ferdinand III, whose feast is observed on May 30, which is the date on which I received my first Holy Communion in 1959 at Saint Aloysius Church in Great Neck, New York, from the hands of Father Robert E. Mason, sought to give honor and glory to the Most Blessed Trinity above all else. He was quite a contrast to the naturalists of the false opposites of the “right” and the “left” today whose minds are but a jumble of erroneous ideas and beliefs and whose souls are readily inclined to surrender to passionate, unrestrained anger and bitterness:

In addition to these plans, the King was simultaneously working, helped by his son Don Alfonso and his twelve councilors, on the great undertaking of unifying the laws. He wanted the Code of Laws of Seville to be finished when the kingdom representatives met.

He prayed much during those days and nights in which he studied, discussed, and drew up the immortal document. One of the last discussions dealt with the style that should be used in writing the Code. The King, who was usually more concerned with the content than the language, until then had used the familiar style of daily conversation. His son Don Alfonso and his secretary Father Remondo insisted, however, that this code of law should be written with a great majesty proportional to the importance of the conquered city. “Also, Lord, know that in Rome the popes and the great princes use a higher form of language,” said the secretary.

The King smiles at their insistence, but since he like to follow the advice of prudent men, and the good Don Remondo was very prudent, he pleased him by using the serious and solemn “we.”

The King and his notary were both sitting at their work table, the latter with his pen in his hand ready to write. After a few moments of silent prayer during which he often made a great Sign of the Cross, the noble King of Castile and Leon began to dictate:

In the name of Him Who is the true and everlasting God, Who in one God with the Son and with the Holy Ghost, and one Lord in Three Persons and one in substance; and Who gave us His glory; and if we believe this of Him and in His Son and in the Holy Ghost, then we believe in the true, everlasting god, and we adore the Three Persons, the unity in essence and the equality in the divinity; and in the name of this Trinity with which we begin and end all of the good deeds we perform, we call upon Him to be the beginning and the end of this our work. Amen.”

Don Ferdinand remained suspended for some time in ecstasy, unable to tear his soul from Him Who captivated it whenever He was invoked. Returning to his senses, he continued:

All those who see this document should remember the great benefits, the great graces, the great favors, the great honors and the great happiness granted by Him Who is the beginning and source of all good, to all Christendom and especially to Castile and Leon in the days and the time of Don Ferdinand, who, by the grace of God, is King of Castile, of Toledo, of Leon, of Galicia, of Seville and of Jaen. All should understand and know that the many benefits He gave and showed to us Christians and against Moors are not because of our merits but because of His great kindness and His great mercy, and because of the intercession of the prayers and merits of Holy Mary, whose servant we are, and because,  and because of the help she gave us with her blessed Son, and because of prayers and merits of St. James, whose lieutenant we are and whose standard we carry, and who always helped us to conquer and to do good, and who showed his favor to us and all our sons and our noblemen and our vassals, and all of the people of Spain, He made and ordered and ordained that we who are His knights, and through our labors and with the help and advice of Don Alfonso our first son, and Don Alfonso our brother, and our other sons, and with the help and advice of the other noblemen and our loyal vassals of Castile and Leon we conquered all of Andalusia for the service of God and the expansion of Christianity more generously and completely than it was conquered by any other king or man; and though He honored and showed great favor in the other conquests of Andalusia, we believe He showed us His grace and His favor more abundantly and more generously in the conquest of Seville, which we accomplished with His help and with His power, as Seville is greater and more noble than the other cities of Spain. And because of this, we, the King Don Ferdinand, servant and knight of Christ, because we received so many benefits and so many favors and in so many ways from Him Who is all good, we want, by right and reason, to share those benefits that God granted us with our vassals and with the prelates who inhabited Seville for us; and because of this, we, the King Don Ferdinand, joined by the Queen Dona Joan, our wife, and our sons Don Fadrique and Don Henry, we grant and give this Code of Law and these freedoms expressed in this document.”

He then proceeded to dictate the Code, copied from that of Toledo, which was celebrated by all for the many freedoms it granted. It first declares the rights of those who are knights and grants honors to those having a horse worth fifty marks giving them freedom from the King's service for at least eight months during the year. It continues by stating the privileges that would be enjoyed by those living in the suburb of the Francos, allowing then ample freedom to buy and sell without paying duties and exempting them from standing guard duty which, during those times without permanent armies, the citizens were obliged to serve. Further, they could not be obliged to lend money to the King by force, they were granted the honor of knighthood, and had the duty of forming an army for him on the same conditions as the men from Toledo.

It covers the area of the men of sea, first creating the post of mayor to be held by a man knowledgeable in the matters related the sailors' trade. Their litigation and common offenses were to be judged by the mayors of Seville, but if those involved did not agree with the sentence, the mayor has “to look for six good men knowledgeable in the Code of 'sea laws' and review the litigation with them, notifying the plaintiff of what they believed to be right; and if the plaintiff does not like the judgment agreed upon by the mayor and those six good men, let his appeal to us.” Afterward, it made the same concessions to the sailors as it had to those in the suburb of Francos in respect to selling, buying and trading.

After giving them the honor of knighthood, the code determined the conditions of their service, which reads as follows: “The are obliged to serve the King with their ships and their weapons for three months. If the King needs them for a longer tour, he shall pay them.” This obligation of forming an army on the sea spared them the obligation of serving on land, with the exception that it should be for the town's benefit, in which case they were required to serve with the others. As see, the ships were equivalent to horses in the King's mind, and his son and successor used the same criteria when he says, “The ships are the riding animals of those who go by sea just as the horses are for those who go by land.” It also granted them the right to have a butcher's shop in their suburb with the duties paid by the King.

And lastly, it orders all of the inhabitants of Seville, knights, merchants, and sailors, to pay him ten percent from the gardens and farms on the surrounding lands of the Guadalquiver “as this . . . is our right. And we order that from the bread and the wine and the cattle and from all the other things, you pay your due obligation to the Church as it is done in Toledo.” The code ends by threatening he who dares decrease the freedoms of that code of law with “provoking the wrath of God and my own,” and ordering him to “pay to us and to whoever reigns after us one hundred marks of gold.” (Sister Maria del Carmen Fernandez de Castro Cabeza A.C.J., The Life of the Very Noble King of Castile and Leon Saint Fernando III, pp. 267-270.

This is the kind of justice lacking in a world that has overthrown the Social Reign of Christ the King. This is the kind of justice that even the conciliar revolutionaries would reject precisely because it was based upon the very face of expanding Christendom and of governing according to the teaching of Christ the King as He had revealed Himself exclusively to men through His true Church, the Catholic Church.

This is all a chastisement for the multifarious ways in which the Most Holy Trinity has been dishonored and blasphemed in a land of such “civil liberty” that every manner sin and indecent behavior is protected by the civil laws and celebrated in all the quarters of social life.

We are eyewitnesses to the process of American disintegration, which is all the more reason for us to spend time, if at all possible where you live in this time of apostasy and betrayal, before the Blessed Sacrament and by uniting ourselves more fully to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Which beats for us with such love in the Adorable Sacrament of the Altar, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Without minimizing the horror of the spate of recent mass killings or the sorrow and grief of the relatives of those who have lost husbands, wives, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, and grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends killed in these tragedies. However, the answer is not to be found in legislation nor in the imposition of a de facto totalitarianism that would brand those who dissent from the “left’s” “received teaching” as “violent” criminals worthy of being given assessed as “security risks” and subjected to the subjective “quality of life” any time such a “risk” seeks medical treatment and has his “background” checked for appropriate “treatment.” This is what happens in Red China, and it is what will happen here in short order absent Divine intervention of the sort for which we must pray but which our country and the “civilized world” do not deserve.

It should go without saying that the conciliar revolutionaries have enabled the modern carnage of innocent human beings and the totalitarianism that is being imposed by the statists to address symptoms with false and sterile remedies by their, the conciliarist revolutionaries’, precisely because they eschew and, quite indeed, condemn what they disparage as “proselytizing.” The counterfeit church of conciliarism is awash with the eternal deaths of millions upon millions of souls by their daily violence against the true Faith by offending God with their false doctrines, sacrilegious liturgies, libertine concept of subjective, situation-based “ethics.” These wretched revolutionaries are thus as content as their counterparts in civil governments to bewail the problems of the world that they themselves have, each in their own way, helped to foster and worsen on a daily basis as they seek, most likely wittingly, to transform the world in the “newthink” mirror image of China in Communist captivity

The cold-blooded killing of souls and bodies will end when the Triumph of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary is made manifest. by renewing on a daily basis our consecration to Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, consoling these Hearts by imitating the simple love of Francisco Marto, who prayed as many Rosaries as he could each day to "console the good God."

Our situation, which has spiraled out of control so fast that anyone who thinks that a country that is deliberately letting illegal immigrants pour across is borders and is letting wanton street thugs commit crimes without much, if any, punishment while rewarding baby-butchers and the Aztecs in white coats who kill human beings after birth under one or more euphemisms with protection under the cover of the civil law is going to be “saved” without the conversion of men to the true Faith is not think clearly.

Yes. it is  Catholicism or the abyss.

Behold the abyss.

We need Our Lady’s help now more than ever, especially by remaining faithful to her Most Holy Rosary on a daily basis and by distributing blessed Miraculous Medals and Green Scapulars to the souls God sees fit in His Holy Providence to place within our lives.

On the Feast of Saint Hermenegild

Today, Tuesday, April 13, 2021, is the Feast of Saint Hermenegild, whose own father, the king of the Visigoths and a follower of the Arian heresy, brought him to an Arian bishop to be sentenced to die on Easter Sunday!

The readings in today’s Divine Office contain Pope Saint Gregory the Great’s account of Saint Hermenegild’s fidelity to the true Faith and his willingness to die on its behalf:

Hermenegild, the son of Leovigild, King of the Visigoths, was turned from the Arian heresy to the Catholic Faith by the preaching of that most worshipful man Leander, Bishop of Seville, the same who was for a long season mine own familiar friend. Then his father, being himself an Arian, strove to bring him back to that heresy, first by offering him gifts, and then seeking to awe him by threatening. And when he answered alway that, having once had knowledge of the true faith, he never could forsake it, his father was wroth, and took away his kingdom from him, and plundered him of all his goods. And when not even so could he sap the manliness of his soul, he cast him into a most strait prison, having his neck and his hands in fetters of iron. And so that young King Hermenegild began to hold in little esteem an earthly kingdom, and to long exceedingly for an heavenly. Yea, he clothed himself in sackcloths in the prison, and as he lay bound therein, he poured forth supplications to Almighty God to give him strength. There he lay bound, having suffered the loss of all things, but his suffering made him but to esteem more worthless the glory of this world, which passeth away so easily.

But when the day of the glad Passover came, at dead of night, the unbelieving father sent to his son the Arian Bishop, to offer him, as the price of his favour, to receive at the hands of the said Bishop the Communion which was the result of a sacrilegious consecration. But when the Arian Bishop came into the prison, the servant of God, remembering that he was not his own but God's man, rebuked the unbeliever as he deserved, and drave him from his presence with just reproaches for though he was weak and bound as touching this outer body, yet was he strong in the mighty castle of his soul. The Bishop, therefore, went away again to that Arian father. And when he came to Leovigild, he waxed exceeding wroth, and sent his servants to kill God's faithful witness where he lay. Which thing was done for as soon as they came to him into the prison, they clave his head with an axe, and freed him from the dying life of this house of our tabernacle. And so they did to him all that which they that kill the body are able to do, and it was a thing which now of a long season he feared not, seeing that when they have done that, they have no more that they can do, but fearing rather Him Who, when He hath killed, hath power to cast both body and soul into hell. But God, to make manifest the glory of His servant, was pleased to work signs from heaven, for of a sudden the solemn swell of singing of Psalms was heard at that dead hour of night from round about the place where lay the body of the kingly martyr, kingly now in an higher and truer sense than the sense of earthly kingship, since he had witnessed a good confession for the truth, sealing it with his blood.

Come say, too, that lights were seen there that night. Wherefore it came to pass that the body of the martyr became the rightful object of reverence to all God's faithful people. The unbelieving father, murderer of his own child, was seized with remorse, and repented him or what he had done, but he sorrowed not unto salvation. For though he knew that the Catholic faith was true, he stood in fear of his people, and deserved not to attain unto it. He fell sick, and, when he was at the point of death, he made it his duty to recommend King Reccared his surviving son to the care of the Bishop Leander, whom aforetime he had grievously persecuted, that though Reccared was now left in heresy, the Bishop might work in him by his exhortations the same change that he had worked in his brother, which when Leovigild had said, he died. After his death, King Reccared took for his example not his unbelieving father but his martyred brother. He forsook the Arian heresy, and brought the whole nation of the Visigoths to believe in the true faith, so that he allowed no man in his kingdom to be an officer, who dared any longer range himself through heresy as an enemy of the Kingdom of God. Neither need we marvel that Reccared was a preacher of the faith, since he had had to his brother a martyr, for whose sake Almighty God hath helped him to bring back so many to the bosom of their Father Who is in heaven. (Pope Saint Gregory the Great, Matins, The Divine Office, Feast of Saint Hermenegild, April 11.)

The martyrdom of Saint Hermenegild that had been arranged by his own father, a civil potentate, resulted in his father’s conversion.

The moral of Saint Hermenegild’s heroic martyrdom is to be willing to die for the Holy Faith and thus be willing to see the fruit of that sacrifice in eternity, and even the white martyrdom we must suffer from our own relatives all too frequently at this time of madness, this time of apostasy and betrayal can be used by Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to effect the conversions of our closest relatives in His good time, not ours.

Saint Hermenegild’s martyrdom made possible the conversion of the Iberian peninsula and the rise of the true Faith as the foundation of Spain’s very Catholic identity that was under attack by Freemasons in the Nineteenth Century and then by Communist revolutionaries ever since 1936, especially at this time. Our own daily mortifications can plant the seeds for the conversion of our own nation, whose leaders may indeed decide that it is necessary to exterminate faithful Catholics in their quest to build the mythological conception of the “new socialist man” who is “woke” to a chimerical “social justice” that leaves everyone equally enslaved and equally impoverished, spiritually and materially.

Dom Prosper Gueranger’s prayer to Saint Hermenegild must encourage us to be instruments of the conversion of men and their nations to the true Faith, outside of which there is no salvation and without which there can be no true social order:

We offer thee, O brave witness to the truth of holy Faith! our admiration and gratitude. Thy courageous death was proof of the love thou hadst for Christ; and thy contempt of earthly honors teaches us to despise them. Heir to a throne, a prison was thy abode here below. It was from thy prison that thou ascendedst to heaven, wearing on thy brow the laurels of Martyrdom—a crown far brighter than that which was offered thee on condition of thy apostatizing from the Faith. Pray now for us: the Church asks it of thee, by inserting thy name in the Calendar of her Saints. The Pasch was the day of thy triumph: obtain for us that this may be a true Pasch to us—a real resurrection, which may lead us to the heaven above, where we may enjoy, with thee, the sight of our Risen Jesus. Intercede for us, that we may be firm in the Faith, obedient to the teachings of holy Church, and enemies to every error and innovation. Protect Spain, thy fatherland, which owes to thy Martyrdom long centuries of loyalty to the true Faith. Pray for her, that she may ever continue to merit her glorious title of The Catholic Kingdom. (Dom Prosper Gueranger, O.S.B., The Liturgical Year, Feast of Saint Hemenegild, April 13.)

Yes, we must be opposed to every error and innovation so that the honor and glory of God can be defended and that the souls of those who are steeped in error and promote innovation may be converted.

We cannot do this, of course, without our Blessed Mother’s help, and to this end let us pray at least one set of Mysteries of Our Lady's Most Holy Rosary right now!

We have a "good God" to console, don't we?

Let's go console Him without delay.

Vivat Christus RexViva Cristo Rey!
