Irrelevant to Rioters, Looters and Their Apologists: The Binding Precepts of the Divine and Natural Laws

The devil is a mocker and a scorner. He is also the proto-revolutionary as it was the rebellion he fomented against God in Heaven that caused many angels to follow him in making an irrevocable choice to hate God for all eternity. The first revolutionary was described as follows by Saint John the Evangelist in The Book of the Apocalypse:

[7] And there was a great battle in heaven, Michael and his angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels:[8] And they prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in heaven. [9] And that great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, who seduceth the whole world; and he was cast unto the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. (Apocalypse 12: 7-9.)

As has been noted on this site repeatedly, the adversary hates the zenith of God’s creative handiwork, man, because man has a rational, immortal soul that is made in the very image and likeness of the Most Blessed Trinity. Knowing that his own revolution against God failed, the old serpent wants to wreak as much damage as possible by inciting men to hate God and thus to hate each other in order to create chaos on earth as the means to taking countless numbers of souls down with him into hell for all eternity.

The adversary’s role as the first revolutionary or radical was noted by one his many minions in the Twentieth Century, Saul Alinsky, in Rules for Radicals:

Opening page - Dedication

“Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history... the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.

"An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent... He must create a mechanism that can drain off the underlying guilt for having accepted the previous situation for so long a time. Out of this mechanism, a new community organization arises....

"The job then is getting the people to move, to act, to participate; in short, to develop and harness the necessary power to effectively conflict with the prevailing patterns and change them. When those prominent in the status quo turn and label you an 'agitator' they are completely correct, for that is, in one word, your functionto agitate to the point of conflict." p.117

11. "If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside... every positive has its negative."

12. "The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative."

13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.  In conflict tactics there are certain rules that [should be regarded] as universalities. One is that the opposition must be singled out as the target and 'frozen.'...

"...any target can always say, 'Why do you center on me when there are others to blame as well?' When your 'freeze the target,' you disregard these [rational but distracting] arguments.... Then, as you zero in and freeze your target and carry out your attack, all the 'others' come out of the woodwork very soon. They become visible by their support of the target...'

"One acts decisively only in the conviction that all the angels are on one side and all the devils on the other." (Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals.)

Alinsky, a willing tool of the devil, thus identified how the adversary seeks to agitate men into hating the “other side.” This is the defining characteristic of all revolutions as each has been based in what can be called the “ideology of hatred,” starting with a fundamental hatred of God and all that He has revealed to us through His true Church.

Martin Luther, for example, came to hate the very means of his salvation, the Catholic Church, after he had fallen prey to the tempter’s deceptions to persist in his wanton sins of lechery, gluttony, and drunkenness. One can see clearly that Jorge Mario Bergoglio’s reaffirmation of hardened sinners in their lives of perdition is one of the many reasons that he, an agent of the devil in his own wicked right, praises Martin Luther so much.

The French Revolution, which started on July 14, 1789, was an open and undisguised revolution against God and all preexisting social order, resulting in the triumph of “Man” and his supposed “rights,” something that Father Denis Fahey, C.S. Sp., noted in The Mystical City of God in the Modern World:

By the grace of the Headship of the Mystical Body, our Lord Jesus Christ is both Priest and King of redeemed mankind and, as such, exercises a twofold influence upon us. Firstly, as a Priest, He communicates to us the supernatural life of grace by which we, while ever remaining distinct from God, can enter into the vision and love of the Blessed Trinity. We can thus become one with God, not, of course, in the order of substance or being, but in the order of operation, of the immaterial union of vision and love. The Divine Nature is the principle of the Divine Vision and Love, and by grace we are ‘made partakers of the Divine Nature.’ This pure Catholic doctrine is infinitely removed from Masonic pantheism. Secondly, as King, our Lord exercises an exterior influence on us by His government of us. As King, He guides and directs us socially and individually, in order to dispose all things for the reception of the Supernatural Life which He, as Priest, confers.

Society had been organized in the thirteenth century and even down to the sixteenth, under the banner of Christ the King. Thus, in spite of deficiencies and imperfections, man’s divinization, through the Life that comes from the sacred Humanity of Jesus, was socially favoured. Modern society, under the influence of Satan, was to be organized on the opposite principle, namely, that human nature is of itself divine, that man is God, and, therefore, subject to nobody. Accordingly, when the favourable moment had arrived, the Masonic divnization of human nature found its expression in the Declaration of the Rights of Man in 1789The French Revolution ushered in the struggle for the complete organization of the world around the new divinity–Humanity. In God’s plan, the whole organization of a country is meant to aid the development of a country is meant to aid the development of the true personality of the citizens through the Mystical Body of Christ. Accordingly, the achievement of true liberty for a country means the removal of obstacles to the organized social acceptance of the Divine Plan. Every revolution since 1789 tends, on the contrary, to the rejection of that plan, and therefore to the enthronement of man in the place of God. The freedom at which the spirit of the revolution aims is that absolute independence which refuses submission to any and every order. It is the spirit breathed by the temptation of the serpent: ‘For God doth know that in what day soever you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened; and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.’ Man decided then that he would himself lay down the order of good and evil in the place of God; then and now it is the same attitude. (Father Denis Fahey, The Mystical Body of Christ in the Modern World, p. 27.)

Although Holy Mother Church accommodates herself to the concrete realities in which her children live, she makes no concession to errors that have resulted in the triumph of religious indifferentism and overt hostility to the true Faith.

Yet it is, of course, that the lords of conciliarism made their "official reconciliation" with the principles of the "new era inaugurated in 1789 at the "Second" Vatican Council by means of Gaudium et Spes and Digntatis Humanae, December 7, 1965. None other than that great "restorer of tradition," Joseph Alois Ratzinger/Benedict XVI, told us so in his very misnamed Principles of Catholic Theology:

Let us be content to say here that the text serves as a countersyllabus and, as such, represents on the part of the Church, an attempt at an official reconciliation with the new era inaugurated in 1789. Only from this perspective can we understand, on the one hand, the ghetto-mentality, of which we have spoken above; only from this perspective can we understand, on the other hand, the meaning of the remarkable meeting of the Church and the world. Basically, the word "world" means the spirit of the modern era, in contrast to which the Church's group-consciousness saw itself as a separate subject that now, after a war that had been in turn both hot and cold, was intent on dialogue and cooperation. From this perspective, too, we can understand the different emphases with which the individual parts of the Church entered into the discussion of the text. While German theologians were satisfied that their exegetical and ecumenical concepts had been incorporated, representatives of Latin American countries, in particular, felt that their concerns, too, had been addressed, topics proposed by Anglo-Saxon theologians likewise found strong expression, and representatives of Third World countries saw, in the emphasis on social questions, a consideration of their particular problems. (Joseph Ratzinger, Principles of Catholic Theology, pp. 381-382)

Pope Leo XIII denounced efforts to "reconcile the maxims of the Gospel with those of the revolution" that seeks to "reconcile Christ and Belial, the Church of God and the state without God":

Everyone should avoid familiarity or friendship with anyone suspected of belonging to masonry or to affiliated groups. Know them by their fruits and avoid them. Every familiarity should be avoided, not only with those impious libertines who openly promote the character of the sect, but also with those who hide under the mask of universal tolerance, respect for all religions, and the craving to reconcile the maxims of the Gospel with those of the revolution. These men seek to reconcile Christ and Belial, the Church of God and the state without God. (Pope Leo XIII, Custodi Di Quella Fede, December 8, 1892.)

Ah, the “reconciliation” celebrated by the “restorer of tradition,” Joseph Alois Ratzinger/Benedict XVI, who eschewed the supposed more radical elements of the French Revolution as opposed to the American Revolution, which readers of this site undermined the integrity of the Holy Faith in this country by lulling Catholics into silence about their Faith in public in exchange for the ability to live without overt, state-sponsored persecution (noting that great acts of violence were committed by mobs against Catholics in this country in the Nineteenth Century), was nothing other than a reconciliation between Christ and Belial.

Andrew Jackson, an enthusiastic Freemason, was a true son of the French Revolution. Although having been favored by Our Lady of Prompt Succour with victory over the English forces in the Battle of New Orleans on January 8, 1815, Andrew Jackson never converted to the Faith. He remained a Jacobin demagogue his entire life, engaging in class and sectional warfare as he imposed hateful policies upon the American Indians, believing in egalitarianism and majoritarianism, persisting until his death that the beliefs of the "majority" must prevail at all times, oblivious to the truth that God is a "majority of One," and that He has spoken to us definitively only through His Catholic Church. Jackson's thoroughly Masonic conception of God is revealed in his inaugural addresses:

A diffidence, perhaps too just, in my own qualifications will teach me to look with reverence to the examples of public virtue left by my illustrious predecessors, and with veneration to the lights that flow from the mind that founded and the mind that reformed our system. The same diffidence induces me to hope for instruction and aid from the coordinate branches of the Government, and for the indulgence and support of my fellow-citizens generally. And a firm reliance on the goodness of that Power whose providence mercifully protected our national infancy, and has since upheld our liberties in various vicissitudes, encourages me to offer up my ardent supplications that He will continue to make our beloved country the object of His divine care and gracious benediction. (Andrew Jackson, First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1829.)

Finally, it is my most fervent prayer to that Almighty Being before whom I now stand, and who has kept us in His hands from the infancy of our Republic to the present day, that He will so overrule all my intentions and actions and inspire the hearts of my fellow-citizens that we may be pressed from dangers of all kinds and continue forever a united and happy people. (Andrew Jackson, Second Inaugural Address, March 4, 1833.)

Andrew Jackson was a consummate demagogue, and demagoguery is the bete noir of those who seek to blame others for injustices, whether real or imagined, that they or “their people” have suffered and/or are continuing to suffer. Jackson trafficked in sectional hatred as well as a contempt for the “haves” in an early example of class warfare and as champion of “populism,” which arrogates unto the “people” by majority vote what belongs until God alone, namely, the source of all governing authority and the Author of the Divine and Natural Laws.

Blaming others for one’s real or perceived problems and injustices has always made for ready headlines. There is, however, one little problem with this crass effort to caricature and to demonize others: it is an effort on the part of ambitious power-seekers to exploit human fear to profit themselves both politically and financially, and it has become institutionalized by the merchants of class warfare and race-baiters as the means to justify killings, lootings, riots, attacks on police officers, to say nothing of demonizing those who seek to defend themselves and others in the midst of violence-ridden riots,

There is no need to write at length about the verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse case except to make to five specific points:

First, rather than wait for facts to become clear after the shooting of a black man, professional race-baiters see rioting and looting as their first and only means of responding to tragedies. The police are deemed guilty without a moment’s hesitation and private businesses and residences are considered fair game for firebombing and other acts of vandalism. Who cares about facts or about the due process of law?

Second, while I would never permit a seventeen-year-old young man to own a semi-automatic weapon and would never have permitted him to anywhere near the scene of riots, the fact remains that young Mr. Rittenhouse did not travel go to the scene of riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last year to kill anyone. What has been entirely undiscussed thus far is the Kyle Rittenhouse’s “original sin” was seeking to defend business establishments that were owned primarily by members of various racial and ethnic minorities from riots that had been organized on social media after the police shooing of Jacob Blake, who had been wanted for an assault upon a woman, on August 23, 2020. Business owners and homeowners lose the right to self-defense when protesters take to the streets armed with various means of destruction to vent their anger over incidences without taking any time to consider facts that contradict the “narrative” of the professional race-baiters. Indeed, The New York Times buried a story that one of its reporters had written in fifteen months ago about the destruction of the thirty-five business and the damaging of eighty others (see Ex-New York Times reporter claims paper held report on Kenosha arson, looting until after 2020 election).

Third, the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law, therefore, are seemingly irrelevant and/or must be “suspended” when “aggrieved” classes of people are incited to take to the streets to demand “justice” even though they cannot even begin to comprehend that the Divine Justice that waits them for committing acts that are gravely sinful in the objective order of things that they rationalize as being “necessary” to achieve an end, justice, that must be defined on their terms and not God’s.

Fourth, it is, of course, rather predictable that those who have protested loud and long about the “sacrosanct” nature of the November 3, 2020, presidential elections can never accept any kind of electoral outcome, jury verdict or judicial decision that runs contrary to their totalitarian worldview that arrogates unto themselves an attribute that belongs to God alone, Omniscience, that equips them alone with the sole and most infallible means to determine what is “good” and “just.” The denizens of what has become known as the new “progressivism” can, of course, keep moving the goalposts arbitrarily in the effort to “stay ahead” of critics, who they must denounce as “racists” and “haters” even though the facts are otherwise.

Fifth, the toleration of “politically correct riots, replete with vandalism of Federal, state, and local office-buildings as well as upon private businesses and attacks upon innocent bystanders, organized by Antifa or Black Lives Matter has emboldened “progressive” district attorneys around the nation who are owned by the money provided them by George Soros to refuse to enforce the basic rule of law and to request light bail bonds for accused felons, who then go out and rob, steal or kill some more. Entire cities are awash in crime waves.

The cities of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Baltimore, Maryland, which are within one hundred twenty miles of each other, have seen epic numbers of people murdered and the City of Chicago, Illinois is so ridden with violence that even police union officials have begun to criticize their “woke” mayor, Lori Lightfoot, and Cook County state’s attorney, Kimberly Foxx. The pushing of innocent human beings onto subway tracks in front of moving trains has become a new “sport” of sorts in the City of New York, New York. Yet the outgoing District Attorney of the County of New York, Cyrus Vance, Jr., is too busy with investigating the family of President Donald John Trump to notice or even to care as he is in favor of the “bail reform” legislation that has returned the “Big Apple” to the days of violent crime in the 1970s and 1980s.

It is thus no surprise that “bail reform” laws resulted in a Milwaukee County court commissioner, Cedric, to release a man, Darrell Brooks, who had just run over his girlfriend and had a long criminal record, on a $1,000 bond that enabled him to give vent to the demons inside him to drive his car in a zigzag manner into a “Christmas Parade” in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on Sunday, November 21, 2021, killing eight people and wounded numerous others:

Waukesha parade suspect Darrell Brooks’ release on just $1,000 bail weeks before the deadly attack prompted Milwaukee’s district attorney to announce an investigation into his own office’s request for such a low sum.

But it was a court commissioner, not a low-level prosecutor, who agreed and cleared the way for Brooks' release.

Court documents identify Cedric Cornwall as the commissioner present at Brooks' arraignment.

He did not respond to emails seeking an explanation, and no one picked up multiple calls to a phone listed under his name.

Numerous experts, including former prosecutors, police officers and defense attorneys, told Fox News Digital that Brooks’ bail seemed too low for the crime: allegedly punching a woman, stealing her phone and running her over with the same SUV believed to have been used weeks later to cause carnage at a family-oriented holiday parade. He also had charges for another firearms felony pending an active warrant out of Nevada and a record of skipping bail.

"The State’s bail recommendation in this case was inappropriately low in light of the nature of the recent charges and the pending charges against Mr. Brooks," Milwaukee DA John Chisholm’s office said Monday while announcing the internal investigation. "The bail recommendation in this case is not consistent with the approach of the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office toward matters involving violent crime, nor was it consistent with the risk assessment of the defendant prior to setting of bail."

Even the suspect’s mother allegedly claimed she regretted buying his freedom, according to a New York Post report citing a conversation with an unnamed ex-girlfriend of the suspect.

"She’s wrecked that people were killed as a result and she’s like, ‘I’m blaming myself, because had I not bailed him out, this wouldn’t have happened,'" she said.

Cornwall, who has previously tried to become elected to a judge’s seat, is an appointed court commissioner in Milwaukee serving at the pleasure of the court’s chief judge. Public records show he earned a base salary of $123,547 in 2020 and was hired in 2005. Prior to that he was a public defender and a partner in two private practices.

On the same day he set bail for Brooks, he set bail at $500 for a man accused of strangulation, battery and domestic violence, court records show. And a day earlier, he set bail for a woman facing three felony charges, including one for child abuse, at $1,000.

And in 2006, he set a $100,000 bail for a foreign exchange student accused of a violent sex crime — but didn’t order him to surrender his passport, according to FOX 6 Milwaukee. That man, Tim Tse, then fled to China. Hong Kong authorities later arrested Tse on an unrelated charge and saw his international warrant, allowing for his eventual extradition back to the United States.

"Based on the information that was presented in court, including the serious nature of the offenses the defendant had been charged with and the allegations contained in the criminal complaint, I imposed cash bail that was 10 times higher than the amount requested by the defendant and consistent with the bail requested by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office," Cornwall said at the time.

"After considering the statements of the prosecutor and defense attorney, I rejected the defendant’s request for lower cash bail in conjunction with his surrendering his passport, given that a person who is determined enough can find a way to leave the country without one."

He had the authority to set higher bail for Brooks but did not despite a 50-page rap sheet spanning three states and stretching back to 1999, with numerous convictions for violent felonies — and the open warrant out of Nevada.

In the Waukesha case, overseen by a different court in a different county, District Attorney Susan Opper made good on a pledge from earlier this week and requested a bail so high that Brooks would have no hope of paying it: $5 million.

Court Commissioner Kevin M. Costello called it "extraordinarily high" but granted it anyway.

"I have no problem with the bail being recommended by the state," he said. "The nature of this offense is shocking." (Waukesha parade attack: Meet the official who agreed to $1K bail for Darrell Brooks ahead of Christmas carnage.)

Unfazed by the massacre of the innocent victims, including an eight-year-old boy (see eight-year-old boy is sixth fatal victim of Waukesha massacre) in Waukesha, Wisconsin, United States Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-New York), called for lowering bail requirements the day after Darrell Brooks performed his diabolical murder spree that the leader of the Milwaukee, Wisconsin, chapter of “Black Lives Matter”  could be the 'start of a revolution' after Rittenhouse verdict:

Open socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) promoted bail reform efforts just one day after the Waukesha, Wisconsin, Christmas parade, where the suspect – Darrell E. Brooks Jr., who has an extensive criminal record – was released on $1000 bond days prior to when he allegedly plowed an SUV into crowds of people.

In a tweet on Monday morning, AOC shared a letter that she penned with Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) asking New York City’s five District Attorneys for information on “excessive bail in the NYC court system – particularly for low-income defendants.” She tweeted:

More than 75% of individuals in custody haven’t been convicted of a crime, and are confined in unsafe conditions simply because they cannot afford cash bail. Condemning thousands of individuals to languish in such environments as they await trial is unacceptable.

More than 75% of individuals in custody haven't been convicted of a crime, and are confined in unsafe conditions simply because they cannot afford cash bail. Condemning thousands of individuals to languish in such environments as they await trial is unacceptable. — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

The letter focused primarily on New York City’s Rikers Island, alleging that “thousands of individuals” have been forced to languish in terrible conditions. The letter said:

We have grave concerns that excessive bail amounts are leading to unnecessary pretrial detention and contributing to a humanitarian crisis in New York City’s jail system, particularly on Riker’s Island. 14 people of died this year in the custody of New York City Department of Corrections.

The letter further emphasized that “federal intervention” may be necessary.:

Condemning thousands of individuals to languish in an environment plagued by persistent overcrowding and mounting violence as they await trial is not acceptable, and risks violating the federal civil rights of these individuals. If these conditions are not addressed, federal intervention may be necessary to protect detainees from additional harm.

The topic of bail reform was thrust into the national spotlight on Monday after Darrell E. Brooks Jr. was identified as the suspect arrested for the Waukesha massacre. According to Wisconsin court records, a 39-year-old Darrell E. Brooks of Milwaukee had one pending charge of felony bail jumping and one charge of felony 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety with domestic abuse assessments. He also had one misdemeanor charge of resisting a police officer, disorderly conduct, and battery. The alleged offenses occurred on November 2, 2021; this same Brooks was released on a $1000 bond on November 19 – just two days before the attack.

Brooks also had a lengthy criminal record relating to battery and firearms charges going back to 1999, including an outstanding warrant for sex crimes in the state of Nevada. Fox News noted:

Two separate judges freed him on low-cost bail. First for $500 in February after allegedly shooting at his nephew the previous summer and again for $1,000 earlier this month after a woman accused him of punching her and running her over with the same SUV that allegedly plowed through Waukesha’s Christmas parade.

Milwaukee District Attorney John Chisholm has been an outspoken supporter of bail reform and even previously praised the election of Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon, notorious for his soft on violent crime policies.

In a statement following the attack, Chisholm said that the “bail recommendation” for Darrell Brooks was “not consistent” with his policies.

“The bail recommendation, in this case, is not consistent with the approach of the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office toward matters involving violent crime,” he said, “nor was it consistent with the risk assessment of the defendant prior to the setting of bail.” (AOC Promotes Bail Reform One Day After Waukesha Parade Massacre.)

Here is but a review of Brooks’ twenty-year criminal history:

MILWAUKEE — The man who turned a quaint, small town Christmas parade into a blood-soaked nightmare that left six dead and over 60 injured is a career criminal who’s spent more than half of his life trapped in a revolving door of incarceration, drug abuse and violence.

Darrell Brooks, 39, allegedly used a red Ford Escape to plow through revelers at an annual Christmas celebration in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on Sunday, but his life of crime started 22 years ago when he was just 17 years old.

Over the next two decades, Brooks would proceed to wreak havoc across three states as he racked up convictions for abusing his partners, raping and impregnating a teenager and a consistent streak of other violent crimes.

A review of his history — patched together from court documents, criminal records, interviews and public records — reveals that all along the way, not a single social safety net caught him, until it was too late.

The cycle of tragedy

Brooks was just 11 years old when he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and depression while growing up in the inner-city of Milwaukee without his father, court records show.

He was admitted to a mental hospital at 12 and attempted suicide numerous times in his early years after losing his grandmother and watching his father abuse his mom, papers say.

“I didn’t have a father growing up, so my mom was stuck raising me and my older sister. We were on welfare for most of my childhood,” Brooks wrote in a 2007 letter to a judge.

Darrell Brooks speaks about his arrest and conviction in Nevada for having sex with a 16 year old.Facebook

“My father was an alcoholic who was very abusive to my mom. My father’s dad was also an alcoholic,” he wrote. “I grew up in the inner-city full of drugs and prostitution.”

Brooks claimed in the letter that his mother, a Christian woman with Southern roots, steered him away from trouble on the streets but despite her best efforts, Brooks would go on to follow in his father’s footsteps.

He eventually became an addict, a habitual domestic abuser prone to violence and threats — and used a vehicle as a weapon on numerous occasions, authorities said.

Brooks lamented to the judge in his 2007 letter that he knew what it was like “to have your own flesh and blood walk out on you” and claimed he just wanted to give his kids what he never had: “a father.”

But by then, Brooks had already abandoned his firstborn son before the child was 3 months old.

“He disappeared,” the kid’s mother told The Post during a recent interview. “I’ve done all of this on my own, raised my child by myself.”

The woman initiated a paternity case in Waukesha County for failure to pay child support that is still ongoing to this day.

A life of crime

A year after Brooks was charged with his first felony in 1999 at age 17 for substantial battery intending bodily harm, he was given three years of probation. But he soon found himself tangled up in the law once again, being hit with misdemeanor charges in 2002 and 2003 over separate incidents.

In 2005, he moved to Reno, Nevada, in a bid for a fresh start but within a year, he was charged with statutory sexual seduction and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after he raped and impregnated a teen girl who he claims told him she was 18 at the time.

He settled the case by pleading guilty but was ordered not to contact the victim — a requirement he repeatedly violated by calling the teen using a stolen phone card and confronting her at a bus stop, landing him back in jail where he served just 129 days, records show.

As a result of that conviction, Brooks was forced to register as a sex offender in the state and during his time behind bars, he participated in a 2007 documentary called “Crystal Darkness.”

He told filmmaker Logan Needham about his struggles with methamphetamines and his failures as a father.

“I thought I would be this wonderful father, the greatest dad ever … I’m going to give him everything that I didn’t have. Then it’s like, reality setting in. You actually become the drug,” Brooks said in the film of his addiction.

Needham told The Post he recalled Brooks “seemed very genuine” in his desire to turn his life around.

“We interviewed people who killed and other really bad stuff, and now they were reaping the consequences from that,” Needham said this week. “It was always very sad. But with [Brooks], I felt like he definitely had remorse. And I think he felt bad about the decisions he had made to land him where he was.”

Needham said over the years, he would sometimes get updates on the inmates he interviewed, but he lost track of Brooks and said he was shocked to hear he was the suspect connected to the Waukesha Christmas parade tragedy.

Escalating violence

Between 2009 and 2011, Brooks was in and out of jail for a series of crimes, including resisting or obstructing an officer, strangulation and suffocation.

During a 2011 bust, he was charged with restricting or obstructing an officer for a second time after he was pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt.

“During a traffic stop, a Milwaukee police officer jumped inside Brooks’ car, fearing he was about to be run over,” the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported of the incident.

“As Brooks began to drive away while the officer was talking to him, the officer got inside the car and wrestled for control of the steering wheel.”

Eventually, the officer stopped the car and removed the keys as Brooks ran off. He was later found hiding in a children’s playhouse on the same block and was taken into custody.

In 2016, Brooks was busted again for failing to register as a sex offender and in July 2020, he fired a gun at his nephew during a fight over a cellphone.

Anaji Brooks told police he got into a friend’s car following the dispute and was driving away when his uncle “walked into the front yard with a gun and fired one shot at them,” leaving the man in fear of his safety, court papers say.

Officers soon found Brooks with a stolen Beretta 9mm handgun and a clear plastic baggie with three multi-colored methamphetamine pills inside, records show.

He was charged with two counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and use of a dangerous weapon and was ordered to stay away from his nephew and his mother.

In a victim impact statement obtained by the Daily Mail, the nephew wrote that the encounter “made me come to the conclusion that this man wasn’t family or kin to me.”

Brooks was facing 10 years behind bars for the crime — the heaviest sentence he faced so far but when the court was unable to guarantee him a speedy trial due to a backlog of cases and COVID-19-related delays, he was released in February 2021 on a $500 bail.

From there, Brooks went to Georgia, where he was arrested for misdemeanor battery with a designation of family violence a little over three months after he got out of jail, prosecutors said in a Waukesha courtroom on Tuesday.

The final straw

Following Brooks’ troubles in Georgia, he made his way back to Wisconsin, where his penchant for violence bubbled up again while he was staying at the American Inn motel in Milwaukee’s Lenox Heights neighborhood with his ex-girlfriend.

Brooks allegedly accosted the woman and knocked her cellphone out of her hand and then went after her in his Ford Escape when she fled.

He caught up with her at a BP gas station about a half mile from the motel and demanded she get in his car, court records allege. When she refused, he struck her in the face and then ran her over with his car, leaving the woman with “swelling to her lip and dry blood on her face” and “tire tracks on her left pants leg,” police said.

The ex-girlfriend later told cops that Brooks had allegedly threatened to kill her on multiple occasions, had previously tried to choke her and was jealous and controlling, according to police reports obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Brooks denied the allegations and suggested to police the woman made them up because she was drunk.

He ended up being charged with recklessly endangering safety, bail jumping, battery and disorderly conduct in the incident but was given an “inappropriately low” bail of $1,000, Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm later said, leaving him free to wreak havoc on the Christmas parade about three weeks later.

Around 4:35 p.m. that Sunday, the Waukesha Police Department was alerted to another domestic disturbance involving Brooks and the ex-girlfriend in the vicinity of White Rock School.

As Brooks desperately drove away from the school, he barreled toward the Christmas parade, smashed through barricades and plowed through revelers and marchers celebrating the annual event with “no emotion on his face,” police said. He left six people dead — the youngest being 8-year-old Jackson Sparks — and dozens more injured, many who are still hospitalized.

“There are not words to describe the risk that this defendant presents to our community,” prosecutor Susan Opper told Waukesha County Court Commissioner Kevin Costello during Brooks’ initial hearing

“Not only flight risk but the dangerousness that he presents, his history of violence and the allegations in this complaint where it is stated plainly that on several occasions he was told to stop by police officers,” she said. “Everything was done to get him to stop, and he just simply continued down the roadway, causing death and destruction in his path.”

Brooks was charged with five counts of first-degree intentional homicide but Opper said he will be hit with a sixth charge following the death of the youngest victim, 8-year-old Jackson Sparks, who had been in critical condition after the attack.

Each homicide count carries a potential sentence of life behind bars without parole.

“I’m an old guy who has been doing this for almost 40 years,” the court commissioner said during the hearing. “The nature of this offense is shocking … I’ve not seen anything like this in my very long career.” (Darrell Brooks' long life of crime before Waukesha Christmas parade attack.)

Yes, this is shocking.

However, without for one moment minimizing the abject horror caused by career criminal Darrell Brooks, why are so few people shocked and/or revulsed by the daily slaughter of the preborn in their mothers’ wombs by butchers with white coats and medical degrees?

The innocent preborn are invisible to the mind’s eyes of most people around the world. So are the victims of “brain death” and human organ vivisection, starvation and dehydration, palliative care/hospice, and vaccines.

One of the men who is very responsible for the invisible and visible carnage of innocent human beings in the United States of America and around the world, of course, is none other than George Soros.

Very few people have helped to sow the seed for racial enmity, to destroy the integrity  of national borders, to promote the chemical and surgical execution of the innocent preborn and to undermine the security, such as it has ever been or can ever be in our anti-Incarnational world of Modernity, of elections than George Soros, whose money has also helped to elect school board officials who demean parents and local district attorneys who are enablers of the guilty and persecutors of the innocent.

An Austrian newspaper recently detailed the oversized influence of Soros upon politicians of all major political parties, especially as it relates to the never-ending lockdowns and vaccine mandates that have become the standard and never-ending means to use a virus weaponized in a Red Chinese virological institute to impose totalitarianism upon the non-compliant:

Like father, like son: The Soros have always enjoyed traveling to Austria and shaking hands with SPÖ and ÖVP politicians. Depending on who is in charge. Meanwhile, Soros' son Alexander increasingly heads the fortunes of the "Open Society Foundations" foundation. Today he met both Austria's Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg (ÖVP) and the new Foreign Minister Michael Linhart (ÖVP).

  • Soro's father and son often shake hands with Austrian politicians
  • Soros University in Vienna thanks to SPÖ politicians
  • Otto Wagner reasons redeveloped at taxpayer costs for private university
  • Gold Medal of Honor of Vienna
  • Sebastian Kurz: "Long-term friend"
  • Soros Junior came to commemorate the November pogroms
  • Soros and anti-Semitism: the father's difficult story has already attracted criticism

The Soros' special friends in recent years have included ex-Federal Chancellor Christian Kern (SPÖ) , ex-Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP), ex-Mayor of Vienna  Michael Häupl (SPÖ)  and, last but not least, the incumbent Mayor of Vienna Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) . The latter even awarded George Soros the “Great Decoration of Honor in Gold for Services to the State of Vienna” in 2019.

Private University: Interesting deals with the Soros

In 2017 - after Hungary banned the Soros University CEU from the country due to Soros' constant destabilization intentions (he had already plunged several states into deep crises and often benefited economically) - ex-Chancellor Christian Kern (SPÖ) advocated the relocation of Soros -Uni to Vienna. With success: the contract was concluded together with ex-mayor Michael Häupl. At the expense of taxpayers, the Otto Wagner Hospital was also rebuilt for this purpose , so that the scholars of the philanthropic Soros world order can also have a nice time in their new, expensive private university in Vienna.

Kurz met “longtime friend” Soros-Junior again today in a cozy atmosphere

Ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) is also looking forward to Twitter. For some time now, he has only been communicating in English there. Whether the Austrians understand him or not does not seem to be so important for the current ÖVP club boss. It was "great" to "reconnect" with his "long-time friend" Alexander Soros. According to the picture, you should have met in a cozy atmosphere in a hotel room.

Soros also met Foreign Minister Linhart

While the Austrians haven't noticed much from their new Foreign Minister Michael Linhart (ÖVP), he is already acquainted with Alexander Soros. It is "good" to meet Austria's new foreign minister, explains Alex Soros on Instagram.

Shaking hands with a happy red face: Soros now also - in contrast to the citizens - knows Austria's foreign minister and clearly thinks it is “good”.

Soros and Anti-Semitism: Interesting Story

Soros is said to have come to Vienna to commemorate the November pogroms. Soros' son Alexander therefore also examined the new memorial plaques, which are supposed to list all murdered Jews, as he reports on Instagram. Due to his family history, it is explosive that Soros is advising Foreign Minister Linhart and Federal Chancellor Schallenberg on anti-Semitism issues. A large part of his family fled from the Nazis. In the past, however, his father George Soros was even criticized as a "Nazi collaborator" in his native Hungary.

Every Austrian Jew who was murdered in the Holocaust is now listed in Ostarrichi Park on the occasion of the November pogroms:

Krauss, Kreisky, Kreisler and many more: Fortunately, George Soros, born in 1930 as György Schwartz in Budapest, is not listed there. But it is not just luck that saved the Hungarian-born George Soros from the clutches of the National Socialists. Some criticize him as an alleged "Nazi collaborator" .

George Soros is not wanted in Israel, as Benjamin Netanyahu clearly put in a nutshell. He described Soros as a danger to the country because of its anti-national destabilization efforts. Soros organizations were banned from entering Israel .

"Character-defining": Nazi collaboration?

As George Soros reported in an interview, George Soros posed as a Christian during the Nazi occupation of Budapest in order to avoid persecution. “I was 14 and at this point my character was shaped.” Soros reports how, as an alleged Christian Hungarian, he now supported the Nazis by giving away addresses.

In the legendary interview, he is asked whether he feels guilty. "Not in the least," says Soros with a smile. "If I hadn't been there, someone else would have been there, it would have happened anyway," he stated. His father, the popular Esperanto writer Tivadar Schwartz (from 1936: Soros), dealt with this time in the book “Masquerade: The Memoirs of a Survivor”. His sons George and Paul contributed a foreword to the current issue. (Während ihm Österreicher egal sind: Kanzler Schallenberg trifft Soros-Sohn.)

Although much has been made about George Soros having been a survivor of the crimes of Nazism, he was actually a collaborator who is so amoral that he has no regrets about selling out his own people to the Nazis, and, obviously, he has been in the vanguard of support the chemical and assassination execution of the innocent preborn, sodomy, the vivisection of living human beings after their being declared “brain dead” and the supplanting of actual healthcare with a utilitarian “quality of life” standard that empowers mere creatures to decide whose life is worthy of treatment and whose is not (see Chronicling the Adversary's Global Takeover of the Healthcare Industry and A Mutual Alliance in Behalf of Spiritual and Physical Death: Jorge Mario Bergoglio and George Soros)

Taking a Step Back from the Descent of the World Into Madness

The hatred that so many people harbor for their fellow human beings because they blame them for various injustices, whether real or imagined, is truly diabolically inspired. A world without a superabundance of Sanctifying Grace is a world that will be the victim of its own iniquities:

Queen of the most holy Rosary, help of Christians, refuge of the human race, victorious in all the battles of God, we prostrate ourselves in supplication before thy throne, in the sure hope of obtaining mercy and of receiving grace and timely aid in our present calamities, not through any merits of our own on which we do not rely, but only through the immense goodness of thy mother’s Heart. In Thee and in thy Immaculate Heart, at this grave hour of human history, do we put our trust; to thee we consecrate ourselves, not only with all of Holy Church, which is the mystical body of thy Son Jesus, and which is suffering in so many of her members, being persecuted, but also with the whole world, torn by discords, agitated with the hatred, the victim of its own iniquities. Be thou moved by the sight of such material and moral degradation, such sorrows, such anguish, so many tormented souls in danger of eternal loss! Do thou, O Mother of mercy, obtain for us from God a Christ-like reconciliation of the nations, as well as those graces which can convert the souls of men in an instant, those graces which prepare the way and make certain the long desired coming of peace on earth. O Queen of peace, pray for us, and grant unto the world in the truth, the justice, and the charity of Christ. Above all, give us peace in our hearts, so that the kingdom of God, may spread it the tranquility of order. Accord thy protection to unbelievers and to all those who lie in the shadow of death; cause the Sun of Truth to rise upon them; may they enabled to join with us in repeating before the Saviour of the world: “Glory to God in the highest, and peace to men of good will.” Give peace to the nations that are separated us from error or discord, and in a special manner to those peoples who profess a singular devotion toward thee; bring them back to Christ’s one fold, under the one true Shepherd. Obtain full freedom for the holy Church of God; defend her from her enemies; check the ever-increasing torrent of immorality; arouse in the faithful a practical love of purity, a practical Christian life, and an apostolic zeal, so that the number of those who serve God may increase in merit and in number. Finally, even as the Church and all mankind were once consecrated to the Heart of thy Son Jesus, because He was for all those who put their hope in Him an inexhaustible source of victory and salvation, so in like manner do we consecrate ourselves forever to thee also and to thy Immaculate Heart, Of Mother us and Queen of the world; may thy love and patronage hasten the day when the kingdom of God shall be victorious and all the nations, at peace with God and with one another, shall call thee blessed and intone with thee, from the rising of the sun to its going down, the everlasting “Magnificat” of glory, of love, of gratitude to the Heart of Jesus in which we alone can find truth, life, and peace. (Pope Pius XII, Rescript from the Secretariat of State, November 17, 1942, document exhibited, November 19, 1942, The Raccolta: A Manual of Indulgences, Prayers and Devotions Enriched with Indulgences, approved by Pope Pius XII, May 30, 1951, and published in English by Benziger Brothers, New York, 1957, pp. 345-347.)

The world is more a victim of its own iniquities, more torn with discords and more agitated by hatreds than it was when seventy-five years ago during the height of World War II when Pope Pius XII wrote his prayer of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Men and their nations are adrift as they become more and more divided as a result of the proliferation of errors that receive the sanction the civil law and the applause of “opinion makers” and as men, steeped in a variety of what Mortal Sins in the objective order things, run amok in the belief that living as beasts will not hurt themselves and their nations, no less the entire world. Not one bit of the agitation and killing taking place at this time can be understood by the endless blathering of naturalists who know nothing nor could care less about First and Last Things.

Men have been battling with each other ever since Cain, upset that God had found father with his brother's sacrifice and not his own, slew his brother Abel and then sought to deny that he knew what had happened to him before he admitted to God what he had done:

[1] And Adam knew Eve his wife: who conceived and brought forth Cain, saying: I have gotten a man through God. [2] And again she brought forth his brother Abel. And Abel was a shepherd, and Cain a husbandman. [3] And it came to pass after many days, that Cain offered, of the fruits of the earth, gifts to the Lord. [4] Abel also offered of the firstlings of his flock, and of their fat: and the Lord had respect to Abel, and to his offerings. [5] But to Cain and his offerings he had no respect: and Cain was exceedingly angry, and his countenance fell.

[6] And the Lord said to him: Why art thou angry? and why is thy countenance fallen? [7] If thou do well, shalt thou not receive? but if ill, shall not sin forthwith be present at the door? but the lust thereof shall be under thee, and thou shalt have dominion over it. [8] And Cain said to Abel his brother: Let us go forth abroad. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and slew him.[9]And the Lord said to Cain: Where is thy brother Abel? And he answered, I know not: am I my brother's keeper? [10] And he said to him: What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth to me from the earth.

[11] Now, therefore, cursed shalt thou be upon the earth, which hath opened her mouth and received the blood of thy brother at thy hand. [12] When thou shalt till it, it shall not yield to thee its fruit: a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be upon the earth. [13] And Cain said to the Lord: My iniquity is greater than that I may deserve pardon. [14] Behold thou dost cast me out this day from the face of the earth, and I shall be hidden from thy face, and I shall be a vagabond and a fugitive on the earth: every one, therefore, that findeth me, shall kill me. [15] And the Lord said to him: No, it shall not be so: but whosoever shall kill Cain, shall be punished sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, that whosoever found him should not kill him. (Genesis 4: 1-15.)

Husbands have battled wives, wives have battled husbands, parents and children have battled each other. King David himself was opposed by his own son Absalom. David, of whose own house Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was born of His Most Blessed Mother, wept over his rebellious son's death because he was concerned over the state of the poor's soul when died, knowing that he had rebelled against the Fourth Commandment itself:

[31] And when he bad passed, and stood still, Chusai appeared: and coming up he said: I bring good tidings, my lord, the king, for the Lord hath judged for thee this day from the hand of all that have risen up against thee. [32] And the king said to Chusai: Is the young man Absalom safe? And Chusai answering him, said: Let the enemies of my lord, the king, and all that rise against him unto evil, be as the young man is. [33] The king therefore being much moved, went up to the high chamber over the gate, and wept. And as he went he spoke in this manner: My son Absalom, Absalom my son: would to God that I might die for thee, Absalom my son, my son Absalom.  (2 Kings 18: 31-33.)

Conflict between human beings is just part of the consequences of Original Sin and of the Actual Sins of men.

There was conflict aplenty even during the years of Christendom. Intrigue fueled by personal ambitions, rivalries of one sort or another or by motivations of revenge were all too common in royal courts, including the most important royal court on the face of the earth, the papal household. Christian kings and emperors made war upon each other. Infighting among generals and their officers of the same army shaped the outcome of battles. Indeed, as depicted fairly accurately in For Greater Glory there was great mistrust among the leaders of the Cristeros in Mexico.

Additionally, of course, human nature being what it is, sloth, one of the seven deadly or capital sins, manifested itself all too frequently even during the High Middle Ages as those who served at court or in various administrative capacities in the service of the crown and the enforcement of laws preferred to exert the least possible effort just to "get through" a given day.

All of this having been noted, however, it is also true that men in the era of Christendom were not divided on matters of Faith and Morals, on matters of First and Last Things. While they may have had great difficulties on occasion in keeping God's laws and thus of practicing the Holy Faith well, they nevertheless knew what was right and wrong and were united in their beliefs in the tenets of the Catholic Faith.

Pope Pius XII noted this in Summi Pontificatus, October 10, 1939:

It is true that even when Europe had a cohesion of brotherhood through identical ideals gathered from Christian preaching, she was not free from divisions, convulsions and wars which laid her waste; but perhaps they never felt the intense pessimism of today as to the possibility of settling them, for they had then an effective moral sense of the just and of the unjust, of the lawful and of the unlawful, which, by restraining outbreaks of passion, left the way open to an honorable settlement. In Our days, on the contrary, dissensions come not only from the surge of rebellious passion, but also from a deep spiritual crisis which has overthrown the sound principles of private and public morality. (Pope Pius XII, Summi Pontificatus, October 10, 1939.)

It was Martin Luther's rebellion against the Divine Plan that God Himself had instituted to effect man's return to Him through the Catholic Church that divided men over First and Last Things, thus paving the way for the triumph of secular substitutes for religious faith in general just as Luther had substituted his own heretical views of Christianity in the place of the true Faith, which is the only foundation of personal and social order.

Pope Leo XIII explained this very succinctly in Immortale Dei, November 1, 1885:

There was once a time when States were governed by the philosophy of the Gospel. Then it was that the power and divine virtue of Christian wisdom had diffused itself throughout the laws, institutions, and morals of the people, permeating all ranks and relations of civil society. Then, too, the religion instituted by Jesus Christ, established firmly in befitting dignity, flourished everywhere, by the favor of princes and the legitimate protection of magistrates; and Church and State were happily united in concord and friendly interchange of good offices. The State, constituted in this wise, bore fruits important beyond all expectation, whose remembrance is still, and always will be, in renown, witnessed to as they are by countless proofs which can never be blotted out or ever obscured by any craft of any enemies. Christian Europe has subdued barbarous nations, and changed them from a savage to a civilized condition, from superstition to true worship. It victoriously rolled back the tide of Mohammedan conquest; retained the headship of civilization; stood forth in the front rank as the leader and teacher of all, in every branch of national culture; bestowed on the world the gift of true and many-sided liberty; and most wisely founded very numerous institutions for the solace of human suffering. And if we inquire how it was able to bring about so altered a condition of things, the answer is -- beyond all question, in large measure, through religion, under whose auspices so many great undertakings were set on foot, through whose aid they were brought to completion.

A similar state of things would certainly have continued had the agreement of the two powers been lasting. More important results even might have been justly looked for, had obedience waited upon the authority, teaching, and counsels of the Church, and had this submission been specially marked by greater and more unswerving loyalty. For that should be regarded in the light of an ever-changeless law which Ivo of Chartres wrote to Pope Paschal II: "When kingdom and priesthood are at one, in complete accord, the world is well ruled, and the Church flourishes, and brings forth abundant fruit. But when they are at variance, not only smaller interests prosper not, but even things of greatest moment fall into deplorable decay."

But that harmful and deplorable passion for innovation which was aroused in the sixteenth century threw first of all into confusion the Christian religion, and next, by natural sequence, invaded the precincts of philosophy, whence it spread amongst all classes of society. From this source, as from a fountain-head, burst forth all those later tenets of unbridled license which, in the midst of the terrible upheavals of the last century, were wildly conceived and boldly proclaimed as the principles and foundation of that new conception of law which was not merely previously unknown, but was at variance on many points with not only the Christian, but even the natural law.

Amongst these principles the main one lays down that as all men are alike by race and nature, so in like manner all are equal in the control of their life; that each one is so far his own master as to be in no sense under the rule of any other individual; that each is free to think on every subject just as he may choose, and to do whatever he may like to do; that no man has any right to rule over other men. In a society grounded upon such maxims all government is nothing more nor less than the will of the people, and the people, being under the power of itself alone, is alone its own ruler. It does choose, nevertheless, some to whose charge it may commit itself, but in such wise that it makes over to them not the right so much as the business of governing, to be exercised, however, in its name.

The authority of God is passed over in silence, just as if there were no God; or as if He cared nothing for human society; or as if men, whether in their individual capacity or bound together in social relations, owed nothing to God; or as if there could be a government of which the whole origin and power and authority did not reside in God Himself. Thus, as is evident, a State becomes nothing but a multitude which is its own master and ruler. And since the people is declared to contain within itself the spring-head of all rights and of all power, it follows that the State does not consider itself bound by any kind of duty toward God. Moreover. it believes that it is not obliged to make public profession of any religion; or to inquire which of the very many religions is the only one true; or to prefer one religion to all the rest; or to show to any form of religion special favor; but, on the contrary, is bound to grant equal rights to every creed, so that public order may not be disturbed by any particular form of religious belief.

And it is a part of this theory that all questions that concern religion are to be referred to private judgment; that every one is to be free to follow whatever religion he prefers, or none at all if he disapprove of all. From this the following consequences logically flow: that the judgment of each one's conscience is independent of all law; that the most unrestrained opinions may be openly expressed as to the practice or omission of divine worship; and that every one has unbounded license to think whatever he chooses and to publish abroad whatever he thinks.

Now, when the State rests on foundations like those just named -- and for the time being they are greatly in favor -- it readily appears into what and how unrightful a position the Church is driven. For, when the management of public business is in harmony with doctrines of such a kind, the Catholic religion is allowed a standing in civil society equal only, or inferior, to societies alien from it; no regard is paid to the laws of the Church, and she who, by the order and commission of Jesus Christ, has the duty of teaching all nations, finds herself forbidden to take any part in the instruction of the people. With reference to matters that are of twofold jurisdiction, they who administer the civil power lay down the law at their own will, and in matters that appertain to religion defiantly put aside the most sacred decrees of the Church. They claim jurisdiction over the marriages of Catholics, even over the bond as well as the unity and the indissolubility of matrimony. They lay hands on the goods of the clergy, contending that the Church cannot possess property. Lastly, they treat the Church with such arrogance that, rejecting entirely her title to the nature and rights of a perfect society, they hold that she differs in no respect from other societies in the State, and for this reason possesses no right nor any legal power of action, save that which she holds by the concession and favor of the government. If in any State the Church retains her own agreement publicly entered into by the two powers, men forthwith begin to cry out that matters affecting the Church must be separated from those of the State. (Pope Leo XIII, Immortale Dei, November 1, 1885.)

Yes, you see, the evils of our age did not start with the decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States of America in the case of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton on January 22, 1983.

The evils of our age did not start with the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States of America in the case of Griswold v. Connecticut on June 7, 1965.

The evils of our age did not start did not start with the appointment of then California Governor Earl Warren, a thirty-third degree Freemason, as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States of America by then President Dwight David Eisenhower in 1953.

The evils of our age did not start with the the appointment of Freemasons Hugo Black, Stanley Reed, William Douglas, James F. Byrnes, Robert H. Jackson, Wiley B. Rutledge, Harold Burton, Fred Vinson, Tom Clark, and Sherman Minton by the thirty-third degree Freemasons named Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman between 1937 and 1949. (There were eight--count 'em, eight--Freemasons on the court between 1949 and 1954!)

I will never tire of reminding the limited (and mostly penurious) readership of this website that the evils of our day are the direct result of the planned, intentional overthrow of the Social Reign of Christ the King begun by the Protestant Revolt in 1517 and institutionalized by the rise of contemporary Judeo-Masonry in 1717 and thereafter.

Error divides. Catholicism unites.

Protestantism has divided into a welter of warring, contradictory sects, numbering well over thirty-three thousand. Its errors have influenced the development and progression of conciliarism, which has seen a situation arise where the divisions between formerly Catholic parishes are so pronounced that many "conservative" and traditionally minded Catholics attached to the conciliar structures go to great lengths to avoid the "ultra-progressive" revolutionaries who believe in a different faith than they do. Catholicism is supposed to speak with one voice, una voce, as it is the voice of Christ the King, Who has but one voice. It is no accident that our nation and the world is seeing more overt manifestations of evil and error when the lords of conciliarism have made their own "reconciliation" with the principles of Modernity, starting with religious liberty and separation of Church and State.

Yet it is that "conservatives" think that this or that strategy will "take the country back" from the statists who are currently in power, willing to compromise in a pragmatic sense for what they think will be long term results but can never be, at the very best, short term "fixes" that will those on the "left," who constitute a sold two-fifths of this nation when one combines the hard-core ideologues with so-called "moderates" who believe in the right of women to surgically kill their preborn children and who believe that people of the same gender have the right to "marry" under cover of the civil law, will always agitated against until things are "settled" once and for all according to their own unshakable beliefs.

This is wrong.

Pope Pius XI explained this in his first encyclical letter, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922:

There is over and above the absence of peace and the evils attendant on this absence, another deeper and more profound cause for present-day conditions. This cause was even beginning to show its head before the War and the terrible calamities consequent on that cataclysm should have proven a remedy for them if mankind had only taken the trouble to understand the real meaning of those terrible events. In the Holy Scriptures we read: "They that have forsaken the Lord, shall be consumed." (Isaias i, 28) No less well known are the words of the Divine Teacher, Jesus Christ, Who said: "Without me you can do nothing" (John xv, 5) and again, "He that gathereth not with me, scattereth." (Luke xi, 23)

Because men have forsaken God and Jesus Christ, they have sunk to the depths of evilThey waste their energies and consume their time and efforts in vain sterile attempts to find a remedy for these ills, but without even being successful in saving what little remains from the existing ruinIt was a quite general desire that both our laws and our governments should exist without recognizing God or Jesus Christ, on the theory that all authority comes from men, not from God. Because of such an assumption, these theorists fell very short of being able to bestow upon law not only those sanctions which it must possess but also that secure basis for the supreme criterion of justice which even a pagan philosopher like Cicero saw clearly could not be derived except from the divine law. (Pope Pius XI, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922.)

Governments founded on the false, naturalistic principle that it is not necessary, either in theory or in practice, to pursue the common temporal good in light of man's Last End (the possession of the glory of the Beatific Vision of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost for all eternity) must see social order collapse under the weight of countervailing pressures over the course of time.

Mind you, Catholicism is not a panacea for personal and social order. Each of us is wounded by the vestigial after-effects of Original Sin and our own Actual Sins. The Middle Ages of Christendom was marked with various episodes of wars among Catholic kingdoms and even against popes themselves. The fact that individual Catholics fail to cooperate with the graces won for them on the wood of the Holy Cross by the shedding of every single drop of the Most Precious Blood of Christ the King, Our Divine Redeemer, and that flow into our hearts and souls through the loving hands of Our Lady, she who is the Mediatrix of All Graces, is to the discredit of individual Catholics who added to social disorder by means of their sins, not to the discredit of the Faith or any of Its immutable doctrines, including the Social Reign of Christ the King.

While each of us should be concerned about not giving a bad example that others might use very shallowly to discredit the Holy Faith, the weakness of individual Catholics shows only one thing, namely, that they are weak, mortal vessels of clay. Pope Pius XII made this point very clearly in Mystici Corporis, June 29, 1943:

66. And if at times there appears in the Church something that indicates the weakness of our human nature, it should not be attributed to her juridical constitution, but rather to that regrettable inclination to evil found in each individual, which its Divine Founder permits even at times in the most exalted members of His Mystical Body, for the purpose of testing the virtue of the shepherds no less than of the flocks, and that all may increase the merit of their Christian faith. For, as We said above, Christ did not wish to exclude sinners from His Church; hence if some of her members are suffering from spiritual maladies, that is no reason why we should lessen our love for the Church, but rather a reason why we should increase our devotion to her members. Certainly the loving Mother is spotless in the Sacraments, by which she gives birth to and nourishes her children; in the faith which she has always preserved inviolate; in her sacred laws imposed on all; in the evangelical counsels which she recommends; in those heavenly gifts and extraordinary graces through which, with inexhaustible fecundity, [130] she generates hosts of martyrs, virgins and confessors. But it cannot be laid to her charge if some members fall, weak or wounded. In their name she prays to God daily: "Forgive us our trespasses"; and with the brave heart of a mother she applies herself at once to the work of nursing them back to spiritual health. When therefore we call the Body of Jesus Christ "mystical," the very meaning of the word conveys a solemn warning. It is a warning that echoes in these words of St. Leo: "Recognize, O Christian, your dignity, and being made a sharer of the divine nature go not back to your former worthlessness along the way of unseemly conduct. Keep in mind of what Head and of what Body you are a member." [131] (Pope Pius XII, Mystici Corporis, June 29, 1943.)

As the world in which we live, however, is awash with so many interrelated errors, men look to false religions or to this or that Judeo-Masonic ideology or philosophy to “explain” their lot in life and/or how to “improve” the world. Far too many use nationality, race or ethnicity as the sole means of self-identification and thus develop hatreds for those who are either more “privileged” or who are seen as threats to what is believed be a “right” order of things in the world.

It was to condemn Nazi racialism that Pope Pius XI wrote the following in Mit Brennender Sorge, March 17, 1937:

Whoever exalts race, or the people, or the State, or a particular form of State, or the depositories of power, or any other fundamental value of the human community -- however necessary and honorable be their function in worldly things -- whoever raises these notions above their standard value and divinizes them to an idolatrous level, distorts and perverts an order of the world planned and created by God; he is far from the true faith in God and from the concept of life which that faith upholds.

Beware, Venerable Brethren, of that growing abuse, in speech as in writing, of the name of God as though it were a meaningless label, to be affixed to any creation, more or less arbitrary, of human speculation. Use your influence on the Faithful, that they refuse to yield to this aberration. Our God is the Personal God, supernatural, omnipotent, infinitely perfect, one in the Trinity of Persons, tri-personal in the unity of divine essence, the Creator of all existence. Lord, King and ultimate Consummator of the history of the world, who will not, and cannot, tolerate a rival God by His side.

This God, this Sovereign Master, has issued commandments whose value is independent of time and space, country and race. As God's sun shines on every human face so His law knows neither privilege nor exception. Rulers and subjects, crowned and uncrowned, rich and poor are equally subject to His word. From the fullness of the Creators' right there naturally arises the fullness of His right to be obeyed by individuals and communities, whoever they are. This obedience permeates all branches of activity in which moral values claim harmony with the law of God, and pervades all integration of the ever-changing laws of man into the immutable laws of God.

None but superficial minds could stumble into concepts of a national God, of a national religion; or attempt to lock within the frontiers of a single people, within the narrow limits of a single race, God, the Creator of the universe, King and Legislator of all nations before whose immensity they are "as a drop of a bucket" (Isaiah xI, 15). (Pope Pius XI, Mit Brennender Sorge, March 17, 1937.)

This applies equally to those who call themselves “white nationalists,” many of whom support contraception, abortion and even sodomy, and their supposedly “just” opponents, many of whom are steeped in their own form of racialism that is also hideous in the sight of the true God of Divine Revelation, the Most Blessed Trinity.

As Catholics, my friends, we know that God does not judge us on the basis of the race or ethnicity. Our immortal souls are made unto His own very image and likeness in that we have a rational soul with an intellect to know Him and a will to choose with which to love and to serve Him.

Human beings do not love God as "blacks" or as "whites" or as "Latinos or Latinas" or as "Orientals" or as "Native Americans" or as "Italians" or as "Croatians" or as "French" or as "Americans" but as creatures whose immortal souls have been redeemed by the shedding of every single drop of the Most Precious Blood of the Divine Redeemer, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Human beings are called upon to love God as He has revealed Himself to them through His true Church, the Catholic Church, and to love their own immortal souls as they have been redeemed at so great a cost. Our principal identity as human beings is as members of the Catholic Church. Everything else about us (race, ethnicity, nationality, gender), although occurring certainly within the Providence of God, is secondary.

As I tried to explain to students during my days as a college professor, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ embraced all of the legitimate joys and sorrows of this passing, mortal vale of tears as He underwent His fearful Passion and Death. We suffer or experience joy as human beings, as redeemed creatures, not as mere animals identifiable by external characteristics. There are no such things as "black" tears or "white" tears or "Indian" tears. There is no such thing as "white" joy or "black" joy" or "Latino" joy. The use of the "race" or "ethnicity" or "gender" card is the refuge of cowardly scoundrels who seek privilege and/or to indemnify slothful or corrupt behavior.

We are to see in each person the very impress of the Divine Redeemer and to treat Him accordingly, rendering unto each person that which is his due. We are to discriminate unjustly (we must discriminate justly in many circumstances of our lives as we choose which merchant to patronize, which person to employ, who to admit to a seat in a college or a professional school, to deny employment or privileges to those steeped in public scandal, etc.) against no one nor must we use the external characteristics of a human being to extend privileges that are undeserving and/or would result in an injustice to someone else.

Human beings are supposed to be bound together by the common bonds of the Catholic Faith, not to break into warring tribes along ethnic or racial or geographic lines, seething with hatred and resentment at those who have "more" (power, money, fame, prestige, accomplishment) than they do. We are to help each other get home to Heaven as members of the Catholic Church who aspire to make reparation to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary for our sins, fulfilling these words of Saint Paul in his Epistle to the Ephesians as we seek to build up each other as members of the Mystical Body of Christ on earth:

[16] From whom the whole body, being compacted and fitly joined together, by what every joint supplieth, according to the operation in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body, unto the edifying of itself in charity. This then I say and testify in the Lord: That henceforward you walk not as also the Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind, [18] Having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their hearts. [19] Who despairing, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, unto the working of all uncleanness, unto the working of all uncleanness, unto covetousness. [20] But you have not so learned Christ;

[21] If so be that you have heard him, and have been taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus: [22] To put off, according to former conversation, the old man, who is corrupted according to the desire of error. [23] And be renewed in the spirit of your mind: [24] And put on the new man, who according to God is created in justice and holiness of truth. [25] Wherefore putting away lying, speak; ye the truth every man with his neighbour; for we are members one of another.

[26] Be angry, and sin not. Let not the sun go down upon your anger. [27] Give not place to the devil. [28] He that stole, let him now steal no more; but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have something to give to him that suffereth need.[29] Let no evil speech proceed from your mouth; but that which is good, to the edification of faith, that it may administer grace to the hearers.[30] And grieve not the holy Spirit of God: whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption.

[31] Let all bitterness, and anger, and indignation, and clamour, and blasphemy, be put away from you, with all malice. [32] And be ye kind one to another; merciful, forgiving one another, even as God hath forgiven you in Christ.  (Ephesians 4: 16-32.)

We are to be bound together by the common bonds of the Catholic Faith. We advocate Christ the King, nothing else. Christ the King, nothing else.

This is something that neither Kyle Rittenhouse nor those criticizing understand or have the capacity to accept, and this is something that is rejected en toto by the monster whose billions have helped to corrupt the medical industry to suffuse it with “palliative care” rather than the provision of actual medical treatment to the sick or injured, the aforementioned George Soros.

This is what must happen when men and their nations reject the sweet yoke of Christ the King and make war upon His Holy Name and those who seek to defend Him Our Divine Lawgiver and Judge. Decadence and violence are the ultimate outcomes of pluralistic nations found on false, naturalistic premises that praise the “sovereignty of the people” while refusing to recognize the Sovereignty of the King of Kings over men and their nations.

Pope Leo XIII, writing in Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900, noted this very clearly:

God alone is Life. All other beings partake of life, but are not life. Christ, from all eternity and by His very nature, is "the Life," just as He is the Truth, because He is God of God. From Him, as from its most sacred source, all life pervades and ever will pervade creation. Whatever is, is by Him; whatever lives, lives by Him. For by the Word "all things were made; and without Him was made nothing that was made." This is true of the natural life; but, as We have sufficiently indicated above, we have a much higher and better life, won for us by Christ's mercy, that is to say, "the life of grace," whose happy consummation is "the life of glory," to which all our thoughts and actions ought to be directed. The whole object of Christian doctrine and morality is that "we being dead to sin, should live to justice" (I Peter ii., 24)-that is, to virtue and holiness. In this consists the moral life, with the certain hope of a happy eternity. This justice, in order to be advantageous to salvation, is nourished by Christian faith. "The just man liveth by faith" (Galatians iii., II). "Without faith it is impossible to please God" (Hebrews xi., 6). Consequently Jesus Christ, the creator and preserver of faith, also preserves and nourishes our moral life. This He does chiefly by the ministry of His Church. To Her, in His wise and merciful counsel, He has entrusted certain agencies which engender the supernatural life, protect it, and revive it if it should fail. This generative and conservative power of the virtues that make for salvation is therefore lost, whenever morality is dissociated from divine faith. A system of morality based exclusively on human reason robs man of his highest dignity and lowers him from the supernatural to the merely natural life. Not but that man is able by the right use of reason to know and to obey certain principles of the natural law. But though he should know them all and keep them inviolate through life-and even this is impossible without the aid of the grace of our Redeemer-still it is vain for anyone without faith to promise himself eternal salvation. "If anyone abide not in Me, he shall be cast forth as a branch, and shall wither, and they shall gather him up and cast him into the fire, and he burneth" john xv., 6). "He that believeth not shall be condemned" (Mark xvi., 16). We have but too much evidence of the value and result of a morality divorced from divine faith. How is it that, in spite of all the zeal for the welfare of the masses, nations are in such straits and even distress, and that the evil is daily on the increase? We are told that society is quite able to help itself; that it can flourish without the assistance of Christianity, and attain its end by its own unaided efforts. Public administrators prefer a purely secular system of government. All traces of the religion of our forefathers are daily disappearing from political life and administration. What blindness! Once the idea of the authority of God as the Judge of right and wrong is forgotten, law must necessarily lose its primary authority and justice must perish: and these are the two most powerful and most necessary bonds of society. Similarly, once the hope and expectation of eternal happiness is taken away, temporal goods will be greedily sought after. Every man will strive to secure the largest share for himself. Hence arise envy, jealousy, hatred. The consequences are conspiracy, anarchy, nihilism. There is neither peace abroad nor security at home. Public life is stained with crime.

So great is this struggle of the passions and so serious the dangers involved, that we must either anticipate ultimate ruin or seek for an efficient remedy. It is of course both right and necessary to punish malefactors, to educate the masses, and by legislation to prevent crime in every possible way: but all this is by no means sufficient. The salvation of the nations must be looked for higher. A power greater than human must be called in to teach men's hearts, awaken in them the sense of duty, and make them better. This is the power which once before saved the world from destruction when groaning under much more terrible evils. Once remove all impediments and allow the Christian spirit to revive and grow strong in a nation, and that nation will be healed. The strife between the classes and the masses will die away; mutual rights will be respected. If Christ be listened to, both rich and poor will do their duty. The former will realise that they must observe justice and charity, the latter self-restraint and moderation, if both are to be saved. Domestic life will be firmly established (by the salutary fear of God as the Lawgiver. In the same way the precepts of the natural law, which dictates respect for lawful authority and obedience to the laws, will exercise their influence over the people. Seditions and conspiracies will cease. Wherever Christianity rules over all without let or hindrance there the order established by Divine Providence is preserved, and both security and prosperity are the happy result. The common welfare, then, urgently demands a return to Him from whom we should never have gone astray; to Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and this on the part not only of individuals but of society as a whole. We must restore Christ to this His own rightful possession. All elements of the national life must be made to drink in the Life which proceedeth from Him- legislation, political institutions, education, marriage and family life, capital and labour. Everyone must see that the very growth of civilisation which is so ardently desired depends greatly upon this, since it is fed and grows not so much by material wealth and prosperity, as by the spiritual qualities of morality and virtue. (Pope Leo XIII, Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900.)

There is no naturalistic, electoral, political, or legal way out of the mess in which we find ourselves. We are witnessing the manifestation of the perfection of the inherent degeneracy of the founding principles, a degeneration that includes social decadence and nihilism.

Speaking about the decadence in the supposedly “free” West in his famous commencement address on June 6, 1978, at Harvard University, “A World Split Apart,” the Nobel Laureate Russian nationalist and Soviet dissident, Dr. Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn, observed that what passes for “civilization” in the West hangs by slender threads:

But should someone ask me whether I would indicate the West such as it is today as a model to my country, frankly I would have to answer negatively. No, I could not recommend your society in its present state as an ideal for the transformation of ours. Through intense suffering our country has now achieved a spiritual development of such intensity that the Western system in its present state of spiritual exhaustion does not look attractive. Even those characteristics of your life which I have just mentioned are extremely saddening.

A fact which cannot be disputed is the weakening of human beings in the West while in the East they are becoming firmer and stronger -- 60 years for our people and 30 years for the people of Eastern Europe. During that time we have been through a spiritual training far in advance of Western experience. Life's complexity and mortal weight have produced stronger, deeper, and more interesting characters than those generally [produced] by standardized Western well-being.

Therefore, if our society were to be transformed into yours, it would mean an improvement in certain aspects, but also a change for the worse on some particularly significant scores. It is true, no doubt, that a society cannot remain in an abyss of lawlessness, as is the case in our country. But it is also demeaning for it to elect such mechanical legalistic smoothness as you have. After the suffering of many years of violence and oppression, the human soul longs for things higher, warmer, and purer than those offered by today's mass living habits, introduced by the revolting invasion of publicity, by TV stupor, and by intolerable music.

There are meaningful warnings which history gives a threatened or perishing society. Such are, for instance, the decadence of art, or a lack of great statesmen. There are open and evident warnings, too. The center of your democracy and of your culture is left without electric power for a few hours only, and all of a sudden crowds of American citizens start looting and creating havoc. The smooth surface film must be very thin, then, the social system quite unstable and unhealthy.

But the fight for our planet, physical and spiritual, a fight of cosmic proportions, is not a vague matter of the future; it has already started. The forces of Evil have begun their offensive; you can feel their pressure, and yet your screens and publications are full of prescribed smiles and raised glasses. What is the joy about?  (Dr. Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn, A World Split Apart, June 8, 1978, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts .)

The Nobel Laureate gave this address nearly eleven months after riots had broken out in the Borough of Brooklyn in the City of New York, New York, when the inept utility company, Consolidated Edison, suffered an outage at a power plant in Astoria in the Borough of Queens on Wednesday, July 13, 1977. Solzhenitsyn was saying in his address, in effect, that Americans are in trouble if the only thing keeping the masses from rioting and looting is Consolidated Edison, known colloquially in New York and environs as “Con Ed.”

Neither liberalism (or its variants) nor socialism and its variants are the foundation of social order. Catholicism, though not a guarantor of order given the vagaries of fallen human nature, is alone the only means that can provide men and their nations with the foundation for a just social order, a truth that Solzhenitsyn, whose Russian Orthodoxy caused him to loathe Catholicism, failed to understand or accept.

What we are witnessing at present as groups of rioters, many of whom are well-armed and part of the notorious “Antifa” terrorist group while others have joined in the mayhem simply to promote mayhem, to destroy property, attack police officers, innocent bystanders and store owners while stealing whatever they can from “high end” stores owned by companies that have long promoted
a “progressive” agenda, is the logical result of Modernity’s rejection of the Incarnation of the Second Person of the Most Blessed Trinity in the Virginal and Immaculate Womb of His Most Blessed Mother by the power of the Holy Ghost and a concomitant rejection of His true Church as the one and only foundation of order within the soul and thus within society.

Human nature is wounded, although not entirely corrupted, by Original Sin, leaving the souls of the unbaptized in the grip of the devil and the souls of the baptized with its vestigial after-effects: a darkened intellect, weakened will and the overthrow of the rational, higher faculties in favor of the lower sensual appetites. The Actual Sins of men incline them to sin more and more and to blind them to anything other than what pleases them and their immediate self-interests, no matter how distorted or perverted those self-interests are in the objective order of things.

Men who do not seek to reform their lives by confessing their sins to a true priest in the Sacred Tribunal of Penance and then cooperating with the ineffable graces of the Divine Redeemer’s Most Precious Blood that flow into their souls once a priest utters the words of Absolution or, worse yet, do not even realize that there is any need to so will descend to barbarism over the course of time. There is no turning back the tide of the new barbarians who have been let loose as a direct and inevitable consequence of the fatally flawed belief that men can establish social order without reforming their lives in cooperation with the graces won for them by Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ during His Passion and Death on the wood of the Holy Cross on Good Friday and without a due submission in all that pertains to Holy Mother Church in all that pertains to the good of souls, upon which the entirety of social order depends.

Pope Pius XI explained in his first encyclical letter, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922, that men no longer acted as brothers to other men, but “as strangers, and even enemies,” that should resonate with us at all times:

Men today do not act as Christians, as brothers, but as strangers, and even enemies. The sense of man's personal dignity and of the value of human life has been lost in the brutal domination begotten of might and mere superiority in numbers. Many are intent on exploiting their neighbors solely for the purpose of enjoying more fully and on a larger scale the goods of this world. But they err grievously who have turned to the acquisition of material and temporal possessions and are forgetful of eternal and spiritual things, to the possession of which Jesus, Our Redeemer, by means of the Church, His living interpreter, calls mankind.

22. It is in the very nature of material objects that an inordinate desire for them becomes the root of every evil, of every discord, and in particular, of a lowering of the moral sense. On the one hand, things which are naturally base and vile can never give rise to noble aspirations in the human heart which was created by and for God alone and is restless until it finds repose in Him. On the other hand, material goods (and in this they differ greatly from those of the spirit which the more of them we possess the more remain to be acquired) the more they are divided among men the less each one has and, by consequence, what one man has another cannot possibly possess unless it be forcibly taken away from the first. Such being the case, worldly possessions can never satisfy all in equal manner nor give rise to a spirit of universal contentment, but must become perforce a source of division among men and of vexation of spirit, as even the Wise Man Solomon experienced: "Vanity of vanities, and vexation of spirit." (Ecclesiastes i, 2, 14) . . . . (Pope Pius XI, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922.)

Catholicism is the one and only foundation for all legitimate social order

Pope Pius XI made the same point in Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922:

Since the Church is the safe and sure guide to conscience, for to her safe-keeping alone there has been confided the doctrines and the promise of the assistance of Christ, she is able not only to bring about at the present hour a peace that is truly the peace of Christ, but can, better than any other agency which We know of, contribute greatly to the securing of the same peace for the future, to the making impossible of war in the future. For the Church teaches (she alone has been given by God the mandate and the right to teach with authority) that not only our acts as individuals but also as groups and as nations must conform to the eternal law of God. In fact, it is much more important that the acts of a nation follow God's law, since on the nation rests a much greater responsibility for the consequences of its acts than on the individual.

When, therefore, governments and nations follow in all their activities, whether they be national or international, the dictates of conscience grounded in the teachings, precepts, and example of Jesus Christ, and which are binding on each and every individual, then only can we have faith in one another's word and trust in the peaceful solution of the difficulties and controversies which may grow out of differences in point of view or from clash of interests. An attempt in this direction has already and is now being made; its results, however, are almost negligible and, especially so, as far as they can be said to affect those major questions which divide seriously and serve to arouse nations one against the other. No merely human institution of today can be as successful in devising a set of international laws which will be in harmony with world conditions as the Middle Ages were in the possession of that true League of Nations, Christianity. It cannot be denied that in the Middle Ages this law was often violated; still it always existed as an ideal, according to which one might judge the acts of nations, and a beacon light calling those who had lost their way back to the safe road.

There exists an institution able to safeguard the sanctity of the law of nations. This institution is a part of every nation; at the same time it is above all nations. She enjoys, too, the highest authority, the fullness of the teaching power of the Apostles. Such an institution is the Church of Christ. She alone is adapted to do this great work, for she is not only divinely commissioned to lead mankind, but moreover, because of her very make-up and the constitution which she possesses, by reason of her age-old traditions and her great prestige, which has not been lessened but has been greatly increased since the close of the War, cannot but succeed in such a venture where others assuredly will fail.

It is apparent from these considerations that true peace, the peace of Christ, is impossible unless we are willing and ready to accept the fundamental principles of Christianity, unless we are willing to observe the teachings and obey the law of Christ, both in public and private life. If this were done, then society being placed at last on a sound foundation, the Church would be able, in the exercise of its divinely given ministry and by means of the teaching authority which results therefrom, to protect all the rights of God over men and nations. (Pope Pius XI, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922.)

In other words, Catholicism is the sole source of human sanctification and the legitimate teacher of men, and thus possesses the sole ability to provide the foundation for a social order that can be as just as possible in a world filled with fallen men, a point that Pope Pius XI reiterated in his encyclical letter commemorating the fortieth anniversary of the issuance of Rerum NovarumQuadregesimo Anno, May 15, 1931:

127. Yet, if we look into the matter more carefully and more thoroughly, we shall clearly perceive that, preceding this ardently desired social restoration, there must be a renewal of the Christian spirit, from which so many immersed in economic life have, far and wide, unhappily fallen away, lest all our efforts be wasted and our house be built not on a rock but on shifting sand.[62]

128. And so, Venerable Brethren and Beloved Sons, having surveyed the present economic system, We have found it laboring under the gravest of evils. We have also summoned Communism and Socialism again to judgment and have found all their forms, even the most modified, to wander far from the precepts of the Gospel.

129. "Wherefore," to use the words of Our Predecessor, "if human society is to be healed, only a return to Christian life and institutions will heal it."[63] For this alone can provide effective remedy for that excessive care for passing things that is the origin of all vices; and this alone can draw away men's eyes, fascinated by and wholly fixed on the changing things of the world, and raise them toward Heaven. Who would deny that human society is in most urgent need of this cure now?

130. Minds of all, it is true, are affected almost solely by temporal upheavals, disasters, and calamities. But if we examine things critically with Christian eyes, as we should, what are all these compared with the loss of souls? Yet it is not rash by any means to say that the whole scheme of social and economic life is now such as to put in the way of vast numbers of mankind most serious obstacles which prevent them from caring for the one thing necessary; namely, their eternal salvation. (Pope Pius XI, Quadragesimo Anno, May 15, 1931.)

We must be concerned about the loss of souls, not about the agitations of the moment. Remember, no one has ever been declared a canonized saint who was immersed in the agitations of the world to such an extent that they lost the ability to see the world clearly through the eyes of the true Faith and to fail to remain calm in the midst of admittedly terrible events that occur within the Providence of God.

Most men today, however, are more concerned about the acquisition or possible loss of wealth once attained than they are about their immortal souls as they have “excessive care passing things that” are “the origin of all vices.” Only the true Faith can draw “men’s eyes, fascinated by and wholly fixated on the changing things of the world, and raise them toward Heaven.”

The bloodletting and rioting taking place at this cannot be stopped by means merely natural. No call to “civility” or “unity” is going to succeed. Catholicism—and Catholicism alone—is the only foundation of order within the souls of men and hence of a truly well-ordered sense of justice within nations and among them.

This is all a chastisement for the multifarious ways in which the Most Holy Trinity has been dishonored and blasphemed in a land of such “civil liberty” that every manner sin and indecent behavior is protected by the civil laws and celebrated in all the quarters of social life.

We are eyewitnesses to the process of American disintegration, which is all the more reason for us to spend time, if at all possible, where you live in this time of apostasy and betrayal, before the Blessed Sacrament and by uniting ourselves more fully to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Which beats for us with such love in the Adorable Sacrament of the Altar, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary.

As we pray for the conversion of everyone in this country, especially for those who believe in the shibboleths that have given rise to needless divisions and bitterness among men let us surrender ourselves now and always to the Most Holy Trinity and be ever reliant upon the intercessory power of Our Lady, especially through her Most Holy Rosary, to effect the conversion of men and their nations to the Social Kingship of her Divine Son as the fruit of her Fatima Message and the Triumph of her own Immaculate Heart.
