We
          Must Resist This

[Editor's Note, October 14, 2008: In light of United States Senator Barack Hussein Obama's support for the mandatory registration of women for the military draft, I am republishing this article, written on June 8, 2004. Mind you, United State Senator John Sidney McCain III reversed his longstanding opposition to women in combat, saying the following in 1999 when running for the year 2000 Republican Party presidential nomation:
[McCain’s alleged “long-standing” opposition to women in combat was “revived” in May by this LA Times story that painted McCain as a chauvinist because of comments he reportedly made about women flying combat missions. Nevertheless, during a Dec. 13, 1999 Republican presidential debate, McCain was asked “Do you think it’s a good idea to prohibit women from combat?”
[“No, I don’t,” McCain answered, “and it’s already been proven in the Persian Gulf War that women performed extraordinarily with heroism and skill and courage including in a POW experience.” John McCain -- Feminism & John McCain, an article that also highlights McCain's support for the slicing and dicing of innocent preborn babies in "hard" cases.]

[Both Obama and McCain support offenses to the dignity of women in situations where they have not been called by God, as was Saint Joan of Arc, to serve in combat.
[I wanted to dust off this old article as a point of departure for a future commentary. Sincerely yours in Christ the King and Mary our Immaculate Queen, Thomas A. Droleskey.]
The Internet
makes possible rapid communication. Not everything that is sent out
in e-mail alerts is true. There are times when well-meaning people become
alarmed by a certain report and forward it on to their "lists"
without scrutinizing carefully the veracity of that which they have
forwarded in a rapid-fire manner. A careful scrutiny of a particular
e-mail alert may reveal that there might be some considerable cause
for concern even though a particular piece of legislation, for instance,
has not advanced far in the United States Congress. Such is the case
with a bill introduced on January 7, 2003, by Senator Ernest F. Hollings
(D-South Carolina) to re-institute the military draft and to make a
two year period of military or civilian service mandatory for all American
citizens, both male and female, between the ages of eighteen and twenty-six.

                        Hollings's
bill, the Universal National Service Act, which is number S. 89 and
has no co-sponsors as it languishes in the Senate Armed Services Committee,
where it was sent on the day of its introduction, may very well be the
harbinger of an important legislative battle in the culture wars that
every Catholic parent who is concerned about the physical and moral
and spiritual safety of his children must participate in with all of
the courage and force they can muster after spending time in prayer
before the Blessed Sacrament and beseeching the Mother of God for her
powerful maternal intercession. Although a Senatorial aide, who advises
a senator on national security matters, told me on June 7, 2004, that
a contact of his at the Selective Service System has said that the matter
of drafting women is pure speculation at this time, Senator Maria Cantwell
of the State of Washington wrote to attorney James Bendell as follows:

          As
you know, on January 7, 2003, Senator Hollings introduced the Universal
National Service Act of 2003, which would require that all young persons
in the United States, including women, perform a period of military
service for the national defense and homeland security. The bill was
referred to the Senate Armed Services Committee where it awaits further
review. Please be assured that should I have the opportunity to vote
on this or similar legislation, I will keep your views in mind.

        This is draconian.
Hollings's bill provides no exemptions for students who are in college
or professional school and it would require conscientious objectors
to perform some sort of civilian service for a period of two years.
Thus, parents who have kept their children out of the Masonic public
school system, where they would have been subjected to all manner of
ideological brainwashing and have had their innocence and purity undermined
by the rot of explicit instruction in matters pertaining to the Sixth and Ninth Commandments, will have to watch helplessly as their
sons and daughters are hauled off by the omnipotent state to be subjected
to the very same insidious evils as part of "national service"
programs, which would no doubt feature "educational" components
to "sensitize" draftees to every jot and tittle of that considered
to be politically correct. Parents would have no legal recourse as their
children were forced to live in co-educational dorms, "offered"
free contraceptives, and coerced into accepting the belief that women,
who are meant to bear within them the image of Our Lady, are just as
able as men to engage in combat and should be forced to do so for the
good of the nation in the global "war on terrorism."
        Hollings's
bill may indeed be languishing at present. That does not mean, however,
that we cannot make our views known on this issue to members of the
United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives.
That does not mean that we cannot make our views known to candidates
for the Senate and the House. And that does not meant that we cannot
hold the feet of every single person running for the United States Presidency,
both on major and minor party lines, to take a stand on this bill. Do
President George W. Bush and Senator John F. Kerry and Ralph Nader support
the Hollings bill? Do they rule out categorically the adoption of an
Israeli style draft for men and women? Do they rule out the sort of
"educational" programs described in the preceding paragraph
as part of a "national service" program. We must have the
positions of every candidate running for the presidency on this matter.
The mere fact that the Hollings bill has not gotten anywhere thus far
should not deter us in the slightest from acting with great alacrity
to let those who would steal our sons and daughters from us to be cannon
fodder abroad and victims of ideological brainwashing at home know that
we will resist this effort of social engineering with all of the might
we can muster from Our Lord and His Most Blessed Mother.
                        The Senate aide I
spoke to on June 7, 2004, indicated that the United States Supreme Court
had ruled that women could not be drafted. Attorney James Bendell, however,
wrote to me to say that the Court has ruled only that it is not a violation
of the Equal Protection of the Laws clause of the Fourteenth Amendment
to the United States Constitution to draft men and not women. The Court
has not ruled that women could not be required to register
for the draft and/or could not actually be drafted into the armed services
or some other sort of "national" service by the Selective
Service System. It could very well be the case that the Hollings bill
will be reintroduced by some other senator or representative next January,
by which time Hollings will have retired from the United States Senate.
We cannot let this issue remain un-addressed during this election year.

        According
to the May 31, 2004, The Howard Phillips Issues and Strategy Bulletin
noted the following about the Selection Service System's plans to draft
          women:

          The
Selective Service System has proposed revamping the draft to include
the registration of women, expanding the age limits and requiring that
young Americans keep the government informed about those critical skills
              most valuable to the military.
          The
proposal, presented to the Pentagon before the invasion of Iraq by the
agency's acting Director Lewis Brodsky, would extend the age of draft
registration up to 34 years old, up from 25. It was revealed by the
Seattle Post-Intelligencer, which obtained the plan under the Freedom
              of Information Act.
          'In
line with today's needs, the Selective Service System's structure, programs
and activities should be re-engineered toward maintaining a national
inventory of American men and, for the first time, women, ages 18 through
34, with an added focus on identifying individuals with critical skills,'
the agency said in a February 11, 2003, proposal presented to senior
Pentagon officials, according to the Sunday editions of the paper. .
. . The agency officials said that they would have to 'market the concept'
of a female draft to Congress before it could be instituted. . . ."

        Mr. Bendell had the
following observation about the forces at work in trying to reinstitute
the draft and to include women as part of such a draft:

                  The
neocons vote for the draft because they want to spill more blood in
the Middle East. The lefties vote for the draft because they see too
many minorities in the current army (Charlie Rangel). The feminists
and masons vote for the draft because the latest version includes women,
which further destroys the social order...just a thought.

        Mr. Bendell is onto
          something here.
You see, Ernest F. Hollings is a Freemason. One of the
goals of Freemasonry has been to de-stabilize the family and to arrogate
unto the omnipotent state the things once offered to children by their
parents. The entire system of public schooling in this nation was an
effort from the very beginning of state control of public schooling
in Massachusetts (under Horace Mann in 1837) to attempt to coopt efforts
on the part of immigrant parents to prevent their children from becoming
immersed in the ways of American egalitarianism and religious indifferentism.
Pope Leo XIII commented on the Masonic control of education in his masterful Humanum Genus, which was issued on April 20, 1884. The total arrogation
of educational curricula and the licensing of schools has thus taken
away from parents their natural law rights to be the principal educators
of their children, as Pope Pius XI noted in Divini Illius Magistri, December 31, 1929. The fact that Senator Hollings is a Freemason is quite relevant
to the specifics of his bill as Freemasonry believes in the power of
the state to produce "good citizens." What better way to produce
those "good citizens" than by making sure that young people
who have thus far eluded the power of the state system of public brainwashing
are coerced into the vortex of political correctness?
        Ah, there
is another interesting dimension to all of this. When re-checking my
initial recollection of Senator Hollings's Masonic membership, which
proved to be correct, I discovered from a Masonic website that one Mr.
Charles Rangel, a Catholic who is a member of the United States Representative
from Manhattan, is also a Freemason. This raises an interesting question
for Edward "Cardinal" Egan, the "Archbishop" of New York who has been so
utterly silent as he gives warm embraces and public recognition to public
officials of both major political parties who support the destruction
of innocent human beings in their mothers' wombs: has Charles Rangel
excommunicated himself from the Catholic Church by his membership in
a Masonic lodge? Even absent Mr. Rangel's complete and total support
for the slaughter of the innocent unborn, "Cardinal" Egan is obligated to take a
stand about the Congressman's Masonic membership, which explains so
          much of his political agenda.
                Yes, far from
being a "social organization," as some very self-assured individuals
would like to protest so as to demonstrate their reasonableness in a
world of political correctness, Freemasonry has very definite goals
to undermine the entirety of social order so that there can be a "new
world order" (a novus ordo secolorum) of their own making
and control, in which we are serfs who must think and do as they command
us lest we be considered to be unpatriotic and disloyal citizens.
        As we make
public the terms of Senator Hollings's bill, which can be viewed at
www.ussenate.com (and typing in S. 89 after clicking on the legislation
tab), we must continue to beseech Our Lady that some pope will actually
consecrate Russia to her Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart so that the
errors of Russia will cease to be spread. For the draft of men and women
into a mandatory, compulsory system of "national service"
is something that was near and dear to heart of the Bolsheviks in 1917
and thereafter. It will only be when Russia is truly consecrated according
to Our Lady's specific Fatima requests that the the spread of these
insidious errors of modernity and Modernism will cease, thus producing
once again a period of peace in the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the
          Sacred Heart of Jesus.
