Perseverance and Hope in All of the Wrong Things

by Thomas A. Droleskey

Although adherents of the two organized crime families that serve as the devil's chief social agencies of advance the Judeo-Masonic agenda of naturalism in the United States of America, the Democrat Party and Republican Party, disagree on some of the specifics (the "trees," if you will) of public policy, they agree on the underlying naturalistic principles of religious indifferentism and semi-Pelagianism that are at the foundation of the so-called American "dream."

This "dream," which has many variations, revolves around the myth of the "self-made" man who rises above his circumstances to do "great things" for himself and for his nation. Oh, sure, some generic, meaningless references to "God" and to "faith" and to "hope" are thrown in now and again, sometimes quite liberally, for good measure. These generic, meaningless references to "God" and to "faith" and to "hope" fool a lot of people, including a lot of Catholics of all political persuasions, whether of the false opposite of the naturalist "left" or the false opposite of the naturalist "right," no matter where they may happen to fall across the ecclesiastical divide.

Empty rhetoric works its charm now just as much as it did when the devil, appearing as a serpent, tempted Eve to eat the forbidden fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Eden. The devil knows his marks, and he knows how full of pride and self-importance these created beings are, making it relatively easy for him to convince them that they are so "special" and so "wonderful" and so "gifted" that God's eternal laws cannot possibly apply to them, of all people. Let's be honest here, of course: we have fallen for this empty rhetoric quite a lot in our own lives, have we not.

Alas, it is one thing to fall for the devil's empty rhetoric and to be sorry for our sins, seeking to make reparation for each of them by offering our prayers and penances and sacrifices and sufferings and mortifications to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is quite another to persist in our sins unrepentantly, worse yet to have "hope" and "faith" in the very lies of the devil that prompted us to believe that we are "self-made" people who can "do" whatever we put our minds to doing, an attitude that is of the essence of semi-Pelagianism.

The only things that we have made of ourselves and by our own wills and by own our "power," if you will, are our sins. Any authentic good that we accomplish in this passing, mortal vale of tears has been made possible by the graces won for us by the shedding of every single drop of the Most Precious Blood of the Divine Redeemer, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, that flow into our hearts and souls through the loving hands of Our Lady, the Mediatrix of All Graces. Our good works, which we must perform to save our immortal souls and entitle us to an eternal reward if performed with a pure intention of loving God as He has revealed Himself to us exclusively through His true Church, are made possible by the ineffable Sacrifice of the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity made Man to the Father in Spirit and in Truth on the wood of the Holy Cross. We have reason to be "proud" of nothing.

Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Himself explained this to us, did He not?

I think not. So you also, when you shall have done all these things that are commanded you, say: We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which we ought to do. (Luke 17: 10)

The naturalists of the "left" and the ":right," however, are full of pride. They must tell us how "good" they are, how much "hope" and "faith" that they have had in their false premises over their lifetimes. Hagiographies of praise must be produced by Hollywood producers to demonstrate their qualities of "secular sanctity," qualities that we are supposed to "emulate" in our own lives as we give "thanks" and massive, sustained rounds of applause to them as they take their own "victory laps" before they find out at the moments of their Particular Judgments that they have been frauds whose king has been the devil and his lies.

Behold the United States of America "made" by millions of "self-made" men: a land of the false "freedoms" of speech and press that have made possible the dissemination of religious and philosophical errors, which errors have helped to spawn the sort of licentiousness prophesied by Pope Gregory XVI in Mirari Vos, August 15, 1832. Gross immodesty and indecency are protected under cover of civil law and promoted in every aspect of the popular culture.

This is not an accident. This is a direct consequence of the false premises of the modern civil state, including the United States of America.

Please don't tell me that the "founding fathers" would have been opposed to this. Even if some of them would have blanched at the sight of the country today, the country today is the way it is precisely because of their own false, naturalistic, religiously indifferentist and semi-Pelagian presuppositions that not only fail to serve as a bulwark against the promotion of evils under cover of law but actually make possible the promotion of these evils. People revel in their sins as they look to the civil state to indemnify them as they suffer the natural consequences of their objectively sinful actions.

How sad it is that various old lions of naturalism continue to persevere and to have "hope" in the devil's lies as they approach death's door. Although I had noted three months ago now that United States Senator Edward Moore Kennedy (D-Massachusetts) was being given time to prepare for his death by a merciful God Who wants him, Kennedy, to save his immortal soul and to repent for his promotion under cover of law of sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance as he recants those sins publicly and denounces his past support for them, the scion of the family that made its fortune as a result of the bootlegging of liquor during Prohibition is marching into his final days as a defiant "champion" of the "leftist" brand of naturalism, as can be seen from a transcript of his remarks last evening to the Democrat Party National Convention in Denver, Colorado:

Thank you.  Thank you. Thank you, Caroline. My fellow Democrats. My fellow Americans.

It is so wonderful to be here. Nothing, nothing was going to keep me away from this special gathering tonight.

I have come here to stand with you to change America, to restore its future, to rise to our best ideals, and to elect Barack Obama as President of the United States.

As I look ahead, I am strengthened by family and friendship. So many of you have been with me in the happiest and the hardest days. Together we have known success and set-backs, victory and defeat.  But we have never lost our belief that we are all called to a better country and a newer world.

And I pledge to you that I will be there -- next January -- on the floor of the United States Senate, when we begin to write the next great chapter of American progress.

For me, this is a season of hope. New hope-for a just and fair prosperity for the many and not just the few. New hope -- and this is the cause of my life -  New hope that we will break the old gridlock and guarantee that every American -- north, south, east and west -- young and old -- Will have decent, quality, affordable health care as a fundamental right and not a privilege.

We can meet the challenges. With Barack Obama- Yes we can. And finally, finally- Yes we will.

Barack Obama will close the book on the old politics of race against race, gender against gender, group against group, and straight against gay.

And Barack Obama will be a commander-in-chief who understands that young Americans in uniform must never ever be committed to a mistake, but always to a mission worthy of their bravery and sacrifice.

We are told that Barack Obama believes too much in an America of high purpose and bold endeavor.

But when John Kennedy thought of going to the moon, he didn't say, it's too far, we can't get there, we shouldn't even try.

Our people answered his call and rose to the challenge -- and today an American flag still marks the surface of the moon.

Yes, we are Americans. This is what we do.  We reach the moon. We scale the heights.  I know it.  I've seen it.  I've lived it. And we can do it again.

There is a new wave of change all around us- and if we set our compass true, we will reach our destination-not merely victory for our party, but renewal for our nation.

And this November, the torch will be passed again to a new generation of Americans.

And so with Barack Obama -- for you and for me, for our country and for our cause - the work begins anew, the hope rises again, and the dream lives on.

The "dream" lives on? What kind of "dream"? A dream of madness, of insanity, that's what. There can be no "renewal" for any nation absent a conversion of that nation to the Social Reign of Christ the King and the Queenship of Mary Immaculate as it subordinates itself at all times in all that pertains to the good of souls to the Deposit of Faith that King and Kings has entrusted to the true Church that He created upon the Rock of Peter, the Pope, and outside of which there is no salvation.

Pope Pius XI noted this simple fact in Mit Brennender Sorge, March 17, 1937:

A Christianity which keeps a grip on itself, refuses every compromise with the world, takes the commands of God and the Church seriously, preserves its love of God and of men in all its freshness, such a Christianity can be, and will be, a model and a guide to a world which is sick to death and clamors for directions, unless it be condemned to a catastrophe that would baffle the imagination.

Every true and lasting reform has ultimately sprung from the sanctity of men who were driven by the love of God and of men. Generous, ready to stand to attention to any call from God, yet confident in themselves because confident in their vocation, they grew to the size of beacons and reformers. (Pope Pius XI, Mit Brennender Sorge, March 17, 1937.)

These words of Pope Pius XI, which applied to the racialist nationalism of the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler, apply to all forms of the devil's empty rhetoric in the realm of the temporal order, including that of the American brand of naturalism that is founded in the same Judeo-Masonic belief that the Incarnation of the Second Person as Man in Our Lady's Virginal and Immaculate Womb is a matter of complete indifference to personal and social order. It is not. The Incarnation and the Redemptive Act of Christ the King is of the essence of personal and social order, and it is impossible to know social order absent the Catholic Faith and absent an effort on the part of citizens to cooperate with Sanctifying and Actual Graces to be true to that Faith until the very moments of their own individual deaths.

What does having an American flag on the moon have to do with "hope"? Although the late Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn's Russian nationalism and hatred for the Catholic Church blinded him to the prophetic insights of the popes of the Nineteenth Century, who did indeed condemn the consequences of naturalism in their own day and predicted far worse for the future, he, Solzhenitsyn, did put matters well when he dismissed the conquest of "outer space" in his Harvard University commencement address of June 8, 1978:

All the glorified technological achievements of Progress, including the conquest of outer space, do not redeem the Twentieth century's moral poverty which no one could imagine even as late as in the Nineteenth Century.

Forgetting about his personal transgressions, Edward Moore Kennedy has been a champion of moral poverty under cover of law, promoting the "right" of women to slice and dice their innocent preborn babies under cover of law and being very vocal in his support of the "rights" of those engaged in unrepentant acts of unspeakable perversity against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments to "marry." "Straight and gay"?

Senator Kennedy, sinful behavior is never the basis of human self-identification. Sinful behavior is a cause of our shame, not of "pride." Our sins caused the God-Man to suffer unspeakable horror in His Sacred Humanity during His Passion and Death and caused His Most Blessed Mother's Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart to be pierced through and through with Seven Swords of Sorrow. We do not commend people for persisting in sins. We must exhort them to quit their sins as we weep over our own sins and seek to pray as many Rosaries of reparation each day as we can for our sins and those of the whole world.

Those steeped in the devil's lies of naturalism, however, whether they be of the political "left" or the political "right, will always attempt to coopt the language of the true Faith for themselves as they present themselves as the secular "saviours" of their nation. We must be on guard against this rhetoric as we reject it out of hand.

Pope Pius XI explained how Hitler and his minions were using the language of the Faith for their own nefarious purposes. It is not different with the adherents of the two major political parties in the United States of America in 2008:

Take care, Venerable Brethren, that above all, faith in God, the first and irreplaceable foundation of all religion, be preserved in Germany pure and unstained. The believer in God is not he who utters the name in his speech, but he for whom this sacred word stands for a true and worthy concept of the Divinity. Whoever identifies, by pantheistic confusion, God and the universe, by either lowering God to the dimensions of the world, or raising the world to the dimensions of God, is not a believer in God. Whoever follows that so-called pre-Christian Germanic conception of substituting a dark and impersonal destiny for the personal God, denies thereby the Wisdom and Providence of God who "Reacheth from end to end mightily, and ordereth all things sweetly" (Wisdom viii. 1). Neither is he a believer in God.

Whoever exalts race, or the people, or the State, or a particular form of State, or the depositories of power, or any other fundamental value of the human community -- however necessary and honorable be their function in worldly things -- whoever raises these notions above their standard value and divinizes them to an idolatrous level, distorts and perverts an order of the world planned and created by God; he is far from the true faith in God and from the concept of life which that faith upholds.

Beware, Venerable Brethren, of that growing abuse, in speech as in writing, of the name of God as though it were a meaningless label, to be affixed to any creation, more or less arbitrary, of human speculation. Use your influence on the Faithful, that they refuse to yield to this aberration. Our God is the Personal God, supernatural, omnipotent, infinitely perfect, one in the Trinity of Persons, tri-personal in the unity of divine essence, the Creator of all existence. Lord, King and ultimate Consummator of the history of the world, who will not, and cannot, tolerate a rival God by His side.

This God, this Sovereign Master, has issued commandments whose value is independent of time and space, country and race. As God's sun shines on every human face so His law knows neither privilege nor exception. Rulers and subjects, crowned and uncrowned, rich and poor are equally subject to His word. From the fullness of the Creators' right there naturally arises the fullness of His right to be obeyed by individuals and communities, whoever they are. This obedience permeates all branches of activity in which moral values claim harmony with the law of God, and pervades all integration of the ever-changing laws of man into the immutable laws of God.

None but superficial minds could stumble into concepts of a national God, of a national religion; or attempt to lock within the frontiers of a single people, within the narrow limits of a single race, God, the Creator of the universe, King and Legislator of all nations before whose immensity they are "as a drop of a bucket" (Isaiah xI, 15).

The Bishops of the Church of Christ, "ordained in the things that appertain to God (Heb. v, 1) must watch that pernicious errors of this sort, and consequent practices more pernicious still, shall not gain a footing among their flock. It is part of their sacred obligations to do whatever is in their power to enforce respect for, and obedience to, the commandments of God, as these are the necessary foundation of all private life and public morality; to see that the rights of His Divine Majesty, His name and His word be not profaned; to put a stop to the blasphemies, which, in words and pictures, are multiplying like the sands of the desert; to encounter the obstinacy and provocations of those who deny, despise and hate God, by the never-failing reparatory prayers of the Faithful, hourly rising like incense to the All-Highest and staying His vengeance.

Do not let yourselves be deceived by empty rhetoric.

No one truly knows who God is unless he accepts Him as He has revealed Himself through His true Church.

There is only one way by which men can reform their own lives and thus to see some measure of improvement in the temporal realm: the Catholic Faith. Nothing else.

God will never "bless" a land that protects under cover of law and promotes in every aspect of its popular culture the very thing that caused Him to suffer in His Sacred Humanity and that caused His Most Blessed Mother's Immaculate Heart to be pierced with those Swords of Sorrow.

We must pray for the conversion of our nation and those who aspire to lead it. Yes, of course. We must not be deceived by the empty rhetoric about the "self-made" man or how "we" are going to "create" the better world or realize a more limited civil state. The civil state will only be limited in its scope and power when men subordinate themselves and their nations at all times and in all things to the sweet yoke of the Divine Redeemer, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and as they give public homage to the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, His own Most Blessed Mother, Mary our Immaculate Queen.

Isn't it time to pray a Rosary now?
