No Homeland Security for the Preborn

by Thomas A. Droleskey

[Although this article was written and published in the printed pages of the now defunct Christ or Chaos journal in 2001, more than four and one-half years before I was to write my first article that sough, ever so tentatively, to posit the truth of the sedevacantist position, I am taking the liberty in its republication on this site to change my references to the conciliar authorities so as to avoid confusing those readers who might glance at it quickly without realizing that the article was written seven and one-half years ago.]

As much as President George W. Bush tells us he wants to secure this nation permanently from the threat of terrorist attacks, the poor man just does not understand why this nation has made itself vulnerable to such attacks, as I demonstrated at length in last month's issue of Christ or Chaos.

This nation is very vulnerable to attacks waged by those who have no respect for the sanctity of our lives precisely because we have no respect for the sanctity of innocent life in the womb. A nation which permits the slaughter of the preborn to take place under the cover of law with legal impunity has no claim to righteousness whatsoever. And it will never be able to defend itself successfully unless it first of all stops the shedding of innocent blood under cover of law in its own midst and then subordinates itself to the Social Kingship of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and the Queenship of Mary. Indeed it is Our Lady's Fatima peace plan is the only real way by which individuals and nations can expect some degree of authentic peace and order as the result of human lives which have ordered themselves rightly to First and Last Things through Holy Mother Church.

Bush understands none of this whatsoever. He is advised by well-meaning "experts" in national security who are themselves absolutely clueless about how vulnerable this nation has made itself because of its support for the very evils which caused the God-Man to suffer once on the wood of the Cross and which wound His Mystical Body, the Church Militant on earth, today. He is oblivious to the fact that no one, including himself, who supports the destruction of innocent human life under any circumstances is fit to hold any office of public trust, which is why he embraces total pro-aborts (Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld, Alberto Gonzales, Mary Matalin, Christine Todd Whitman, Rudolph Giuliani, George Pataki) within his own party with such fervor.

After all, abortion is just a matter of opinion upon which "good" people can disagree, right? As I have noted over and over and over again, George W. Bush would never say that racism or anti-Semitism are matters of opinion about which "good" people could legitimately disagree. He would never appoint anyone even remotely tinged with an accusation (whether true or false) of being a racist or anti-Semite to any post within his administration. However, those who believe in the slicing and dicing of little babies are perfectly qualified to serve in the highest levels of public trust as far as the "pro-life" President of the United States of America is concerned. Enter outgoing Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Tom Ridge.

Tom Ridge has been appointed by President Bush to serve as what is being called the Homeland Czar. The mere use of this phrase has ominous implications (national identification cards, internal security checkpoints, monitoring of electronic and postal mail, the monitoring of telephone calls, the collection of names of those said to be enemies of "freedom," which could include those who oppose abortion, obviously). Its very sound is Orwellian.

However, Ridge's appointment goes beyond the Orwellian.

Ridge is a pro-abortion 'Catholic.' He believes in the absolute, unqualified right of a woman to kill her preborn child. How can a man who believes that our own innocent preborn children are not entitled to protection under cover of law help to secure the United States from terrorist attacks committed by foreigners and/or their agents in this country? A man who has seen fit to betray his baptismal promises to renounce Satan and all of his pomps and works by his embrace of the satanic attacks upon innocent children is the last person in the world who can see the world clearly enough to understand that there is a direct connection between the slaughter of the innocent here and our increasing vulnerability to terrorist assaults from abroad. Bush does not see this. Indeed, Bush seriously considered making Ridge his Vice Presidential nominee last year.

The blame for Tom Ridge's accession to prominence cannot be placed totally on President George W. Bush. Oh, no. Ridge has been enabled by the conciliar archbishop" of Philadelphia, Anthony "Cardinal" Bevilacqua, who has refrained from publicly criticizing the pro-abortion Catholic. Bevilacqua went so far as to privately tell completely pro-life Peg Luksik, who ran against Ridge for Governor of Pennsylvania in 1998 on the Constitution Party line, that while he admired her as a good daughter of the Church, he could not support her. Ridge, after all, was going to deliver school vouchers for parents who sent their children to Catholic schools in conciliar captivity. Thus, a desire to keep afloat the very schools which produce cafeteria Catholics such as Ridge kept a a putative Prince of the Church silent in the face of a baptized Catholic's open and unqualified support for the mystical dismemberment of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the person of preborn children. Although Erie, Pennsylvania, "Bishop" Donald Trautman, of all people, has barred Ridge from speaking in any Catholic facilities there, Bevilacqua has permitted Ridge to speak in Catholic facilities within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on a number of occasions, the protests of pro-life Catholics having fallen on his deafened ears.

Moreover, the phenomena of Tom Ridge and George Pataki and Susan Collins and Susan Molinari and Rick Lazio and Rudolph Giuliani resulted in large part because of the failure of the American "hierarchy" of the counterfeit church of conciliarism to solemnly pronounce bulls of excommunication against pro-abortion Democratic politicians in the 1970s and 1980s.

As I have indicated in a number of articles over the years, part of this failure was itself the product of a spiritual kinship between the bishops and leftist Democratic politicians. Many of the conciliar "bishops" do, after all, believe in the statism and collectivism and redistributionism which have created a massive, wasteful governmental bureaucracy violative of the Natural Law principle of subsidiarity and which have limited the legitimate rights of parents to educate their children as they see fit without any state interference whatsoever. That is why the late Joseph "Cardinal" Bernardin, the conciliar archbishop of Chicago between 1982 and 1996, devised his "Consistent Ethic of Life" approach in 1983. He wanted to indemnify his leftist, pro-abort pals in the Democratic Party who believed in the Social Assistance State. Having taken a hands-off approach with respect to Democratic Catholic pro-aborts, the "bishops" could hardly impose any penalties upon Republican Catholic pro-aborts in public life.

Alfonse M. D'Amato, who was New York's junior senator between 1981 and 1999, had taken a "pro-life" stand of sorts when he ran for the Senate in 1980. Although he made exceptions to the sanctity of innocent human life and would consistently vote for pro-aborts to be confirmed to the Federal judiciary (as well as to vote in behalf of funding Title X "family planning" programs), D'Amato received the nomination of the New York State Right to Life Party without any challenge in 1980, 1986, and 1992. The number of votes he received on that line in 1980 and 1992 provided him with his margin of victory in the general election in those years. Nevertheless, he was convinced by the end of the 1980s that being pro-life was an electorally losing proposition.

Along with the late Lee Atwater, who was briefly Chairman of the Republican National Committee before his death in 1990, D'Amato believed that the Republican Party had to have a "big tent" on the issue of abortion. He encouraged young, aspiring politicians in the Republican party to adopt the "pro-choice" line. He became so hostile to the mention of the life issue in campaigns waged by Republican candidates for the United States Senate that he used his position as Chairman of the Republican National Senate Campaign Committee in 1996 to threaten to cut off funding from the RNSCC if any candidate mentioned the life issue in his campaign. This was enough to silence Republican Al Salvi in Illinois. Republican Ronna Romney in Michigan defied D'Amato's edict and had her funding terminated. It was under D'Amato's tutelage that the likes of Ridge and Collins and Pataki and Lazio rose to prominence. D'Amato knew full well that the Catholic hierarchy would not act against members of his political party when no action had been taken against Democratic pro-aborts.

Thus, it is no exaggeration to state that the emergence of pro-aborts such as Tom Ridge is due in large measure to the cowardice and inaction of the conciliar "bishops" in the United States of America, none of whom has been courageous enough to state publicly that there is indeed a connection between the slaughter of the preborn here and the terrorist attacks which took place on September 11, 2001. No one of them is willing to run the risk of being ridiculed publicly as a Catholic Jerry Falwell. Thus, a man fundamentally unqualified to secure our national security is given yet another free pass while he continues to make this nation unsafe and insecure for the innocent preborn.

We love our nation. We pray at all times for the safety of the members of the armed services. However, we love God before we love our nation. And love for God through His true Church impels us to seek the good of our nation, which is her Catholicization. How sad it is, therefore, that those who represent themselves as Catholic "bishops" in this country fail to impose sanctions upon those who have made war on the innocent preborn. How sad it is that members of the counterfeit church of conciliarism's "hierarchy" believe that they do not have, at least in most instances, a duty to make enemies of the powerful even in times of national crisis and war.

George W. Bush is not pro-life. He is not our "pro-life" President. Tom Ridge is an open pro-abort. It will not be until our national leaders are reminded by our true bishops and true priests in the Catholic catacombs that men who do not see the connection between ending the carnage against the innocent here as the fundamental precondition to having any claim at all to be acting in the name of justice and righteousness when attacked from without.
