Let Your Yea Be Yea

by Thomas A. Droleskey

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil. You have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth. But I say to you not to resist evil: but if one strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other: And if a man will contend with thee in judgment, and take away thy coat, let go thy cloak also unto him. (Matthew 5: 37-40.)

Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ made it clear to us that our speech must be plain. We must say "yes" when we mean "yes," "no" when we mean "no." Anything else is from the evil one. Everything else is from the evil one.

One of the many proofs of the apostasies of conciliarism is, of course, to be found in the use of ambiguity and imprecision in many of the documents of the "Second" Vatican Council and in the exhortations and "encyclical letters" of the conciliar "pontiffs." The Catholic Church has never used ambiguity to express herself. She uses the language of certainty and precision. It is for this reason that she has from the time of Saint Thomas Aquinas in the Thirteenth Century relied upon the clarity of the Angelic Doctor's Scholasticism to protect doctrinal pronouncements from being misunderstood and from making subject to constant "re-interpretation."

Pope Leo XIII, explained this quite pointedly in Aeterni Patris, August 4, 1879:

"But, furthermore, Our predecessors in the Roman pontificate have celebrated the wisdom of Thomas Aquinas by exceptional tributes of praise and the most ample testimonials. Clement VI in the bull 'In Ordine;' Nicholas V in his brief to the friars of the Order of Preachers, 1451; Benedict XIII in the bull 'Pretiosus,' and others bear witness that the universal Church borrows luster from his admirable teaching; while St. Pius V declares in the bull 'Mirabilis' that heresies, confounded and convicted by the same teaching, were dissipated, and the whole world daily freed from fatal errors; others, such as Clement XII in the bull 'Verbo Dei,' affirm that most fruitful blessings have spread abroad from his writings over the whole Church, and that he is worthy of the honor which is bestowed on the greatest Doctors of the Church, on Gregory and Ambrose, Augustine and Jerome; while others have not hesitated to propose St. Thomas for the exemplar and master of the universities and great centers of learning whom they may follow with unfaltering feet. On which point the words of Blessed Urban V to the University of Toulouse are worthy of recall: 'It is our will, which We hereby enjoin upon you, that ye follow the teaching of Blessed Thomas as the true and Catholic doctrine and that ye labor with all your force to profit by the same.' Innocent XII, followed the example of Urban in the case of the University of Louvain, in the letter in the form of a brief addressed to that university on February 6, 1694, and Benedict XIV in the letter in the form of a brief addressed on August 26, 1752, to the Dionysian College in Granada; while to these judgments of great Pontiffs on Thomas Aquinas comes the crowning testimony of Innocent VI: 'is teaching above that of others, the canonical writings alone excepted, enjoys such a precision of language, an order of matters, a truth of conclusions, that those who hold to it are never found swerving from the path of truth, and he who dare assail it will always be suspected of error.'

The ecumenical councils, also, where blossoms the flower of all earthly wisdom, have always been careful to hold Thomas Aquinas in singular honor. In the Councils of Lyons, Vienna, Florence, and the Vatican one might almost say that Thomas took part and presided over the deliberations and decrees of the Fathers, contending against the errors of the Greeks, of heretics and rationalists, with invincible force and with the happiest results. But the chief and special glory of Thomas, one which he has shared with none of the Catholic Doctors, is that the Fathers of Trent made it part of the order of conclave to lay upon the altar, together with sacred Scripture and the decrees of the supreme Pontiffs, the 'Summa' of Thomas Aquinas, whence to seek counsel, reason, and inspiration.

A last triumph was reserved for this incomparable man -- namely, to compel the homage, praise, and admiration of even the very enemies of the Catholic name. For it has come to light that there were not lacking among the leaders of heretical sects some who openly declared that, if the teaching of Thomas Aquinas were only taken away, they could easily battle with all Catholic teachers, gain the victory, and abolish the Church. A vain hope, indeed, but no vain testimony. (Pope Leo XIII, Aeterni Patris, August 4, 1879.)

There are times, however, when the august lords of the counterfeit church of conciliarism demand clear and precise statements of adherence to its ambiguous pronouncements on matters contained in the Deposit of Faith, demanding also in many instances clear and precise statements of support for conciliarism's apostate view of the false religion of Talmudic Judaism. There can be no ambiguity about the "Jewish question" from anyone seeking "full communion" in and "recognition" by the counterfeit church conciliarism: one either agrees unequivocally to give "respect" to this false, superseded religion and all of the mythologies spread by its Christophobic representatives or be deemed unfit for "full communion" in its false ranks.

Thus it is that even though Bishop Richard Williamson has issued his second non-apology apology for the remarks concerning the nature and extent of the crimes committed by the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler against Jews that he made in an interview that aired on Swedish television on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, this non-apology apology is not good enough for the conciliar Vatican, whose officials wanted a complete "yea, yea" retraction of any adherence to historical revisionism concerning the claims made by "mainstream" historians.

There can be no "Holocaust revisionism" accepted by the counterfeit church of conciliarism, which seeks to do almost everything imaginable to cater those who deny the one and only Holocaust, that which was offered by Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to His Co-Equal and Co-Eternal Father in Spirit and in Truth on the wood of the Holy Cross in atonement for our sins. Indeed, as we have seen in the past few days, a conciliar "cardinal," Sean O'Malley, has called the killing of Jews by the Third Reich to be the "worst crime in human history, thereby surpassing the crime of Deicide (No Crime Is Worse Than Deicide). Bishop Williamson cannot be a "full member" in "good standing" with the counterfeit church of conciliarism and the false "pontiff" he continues to address as "Holy Father" unless his "yea, yea" about the "Shoah" is complete and unequivocal.

Here is Bishop Williamson's non-apology apology and Reuters news story about the conciliar Vatican's response to it:

The Holy Father and my Superior, Bishop Bernard Fellay, have requested that I reconsider the remarks I made on Swedish television four months ago, because their consequences have been so heavy.

Observing these consequences I can truthfully say that I regret having made such remarks, and that if I had known beforehand the full harm and hurt to which they would give rise, especially to the Church, but also to survivors and relatives of victims of injustice under the Third Reich, I would not have made them.

On Swedish television I gave only the opinion (..."I believe"..."I believe"...) of a non-historian, an opinion formed 20 years ago on the basis of evidence then available and rarely expressed in public since. However, the events of recent weeks and the advice of senior members of the Society of St. Pius X have persuaded me of my responsibility for much distress caused. To all souls that took honest scandal from what I said before God I apologise.

As the Holy Father has said, every act of unjust violence against one man hurts all mankind. (found on RORATE CÆLI blogspot)

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Vatican on Friday rejected an apology from a bishop whose denial of the Holocaust caused international uproar between Jews and Catholics, saying it did not meet its demand for a full and public recanting.

Jewish groups praised the Vatican for its tough stand, which Vatican sources said will likely make it harder for the traditionalist bishop to be fully re-admitted into the Church and lead to greater scrutiny of the society to which he belongs.

British Bishop Richard Williamson, who was ordered to leave Argentina and is now in his homeland, on Thursday issued a statement in which he said, "To all souls that took honest scandal from what I said, before God I apologize."

Chief Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said Williamson's statement "does not seem to respect the conditions" set forth by the Vatican on February 4, when it ordered him to "in an absolutely unequivocal and public way distance himself from his positions" regarding the Holocaust.

On January 24, Pope Benedict lifted the excommunications of Williamson and three other bishops to try to heal a 20-year-old schism that began when they were thrown out of the Church for being ordained without the permission of Pope John Paul II.

Among those who condemned Williamson and the pope's decision were Holocaust survivors, progressive Catholics, members of the U.S. Congress, Israel's Chief Rabbinate, German Jewish leaders and Jewish writer and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel.

Williamson told Swedish television in an interview broadcast on January 21, "I believe there were no gas chambers." He said no more than 300,000 Jews perished in Nazi concentration camps, rather than the 6 million accepted by most historians.

In his statement on Thursday, Williamson said, "I can truthfully say that I regret having made such remarks, and that if I had known beforehand the full harm and hurt to which they would give rise, especially to the Church, but also to survivors and relatives of victims of injustice under the Third Reich, I would not have made them."

JEWS SAY APOLOGY 'EMPTY'

Jewish groups praised the Vatican for not accepting Williamson's apology.

"The Vatican clearly understands the critical issue here," said David A. Harris, executive director of the American Jewish Committee.

"Williamson still refuses to acknowledge the Holocaust as a historical fact. Until he explicitly says otherwise, he remains in the camp of the Holocaust deniers. He is not fooling anyone, least of all the Vatican."

"We commend the Vatican for standing firm and not permitting a person who believes that the Nazi Holocaust is a lie to have any role in the Church," said Rabbi Marvin Hier, founder and dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

Even before the Vatican rejected Williamson's statement, Jewish groups branded his apology as shallow and empty.

"As he clearly failed to retract his malicious lies, Williamson has again shown that he is a staunch anti-Semite and incorrigible Holocaust denier who doubts the genocide of six million Jewish people," said Charlotte Knobloch, President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany.

Williamson made his comments denying the Holocaust in Germany, where such comments are a crime

Williamson arrived in Britain earlier this week after he was ordered to leave Argentina, where he was director of a seminary of the ultra-traditionalist Society of St. Pius X (SSPX).

The controversy over Williamson's comments and the pope's decision to lift his excommunication led to the worst crisis in Catholic-Jewish relations in half a century.

On February 12 the pope, in an attempt to defuse the crisis, told Jewish leaders that "any denial or minimization of this terrible crime is intolerable," especially from a clergyman.

The row over Williamson has led many to take a closer look at the SSPX, its view of Jews and its future in the Church.

The Vatican says that before the SSPX can be fully readmitted into the Church, its leaders and members must first accept the teachings of the 1962-1965 Second Vatican Council, which urged respect for Judaism and other religions.

A key Council document repudiated the concept of collective Jewish guilt for Christ's death. (Bishop's apology over Holocaust denial not enough)

One in the counterfeit church of conciliarism must say "yea, yea" to all of the details claimed by "mainstream" historians about the "Shoah." One is free, however, say to "no, no" to Scholasticism, to the "ecumenism of the return," to the confessionally Catholic civil state and the Social Reign of Christ the King, to the perpetually binding nature of dogmatic truth according to "the same sense, the same acceptation" as it has been taught and understood at all times, as was taught solemnly by the [First] Vatican Council and reiterated by Pope Saint Pius X in Pascendi Dominici Gregis, September 8, 1907, and The Oath Against Modernism, September 1, 1910. One is free to "no, no" to these truths of the Catholic Faith and remain in perfectly good standing with the apostates in the counterfeit church of conciliarism.

What is "tolerable" for the "pope" and the officials in the conciliar Vatican is to say "yea, yea" to the new ecclesiology (that the "Church of Christ subsists in the Catholic Church," a term suggested by the then Father Joseph Ratzinger at the suggestion of a German Lutheran "theologian" during the "Second" Vatican Council), "yea, yea" to "religious liberty" and the belief that false religions have a civil right granted them by God to promote their false beliefs publicly and that those false beliefs can contribute to the "betterment" of nations and the establishment of "peace" in the world, "yea, yea" to inter-religious dialogue and prayer services that have been condemned by the Church since Apostolic times, "yea, yea" to blasphemies committed against God as false "pontiffs" have esteemed the symbols of these false religions, "yea, yea" to the separation of Church and State, "yea, yea" to episcopal collegiality, "yea, yea" to "bishops" and "priests" who make even more of a mockery of the Faith than is made by the very abominable nature of the Protestant and Masonic Novus Ordo service.

Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI has said "yea, yea" to the clownish Timothy Michael Dolan, the newly appointed conciliar "archbishop" of New York, despite his having offended God mightily by the wearing of a "cheesehead" hat briefly during an outdoor "Mass" on the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, September 8, 2002, shortly after his "installation" as the conciliar "archbishop" of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and despite having "presided" over the following travesty in Wisconsin on Labor Day in 2003:

Think every Harley rider is one of the Hells Angels? Guess again, This past Labor Day Labor Day, holiday celebrated in the United States and Canada on the first Monday in September to honor the laborer. It was inaugurated by the Knights of Labor in 1882 and made a national holiday by the U.S. Congress in 1894, at the 100th birthday celebration of Harley-Davidson Motor Company in Milwaukee, more than 1,500 Harley aficionados attended an outdoor Mass celebrated by Archbishop Timothy Dolan.

The bikers rode into Mass atop the highest peak in southeastern Wisconsin, Holy Hill, at the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians. One priest made his way up the hill in the sidecar of a Harley painted to look like Wisconsin cheese. Dolan, who concelebrated with 15 other priests and 14 deacons, actually pulled up to the site on a farm wagon pulled by a tractor.

Instead of pews, there were rows of hogs and choppers, even a few sidecars. And instead of dress shirts, khakis, and skirts, there was black leather, denim, bandanas, and boots. Each Mass attendant received a commemorative medal with the inscription "Bikers' Mass 2003, Holy Hill."

Hundreds of thousands of bikers and fans traveled to Milwaukee from all over the world for the Harley anniversary, filling hotel rooms within a 200-mile radius of downtown Milwaukee. The Milwaukee arch diocese cashed in on the frenzy, renting out retreat center rooms for $125 per night.

In fact, the archdiocese  planned a whole weekend of events for the bikers including blessings of motorcycles, a Friday night fish fry, even an organ recital. The music played at such recitals was typically written for pipe organ, which includes church organs, and symphonic organs (also known as concert organs).  called "Tuned Harleys in the Nave."

Archdiocesan vocations director and Harley rider Father Bob Stiefvater told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel (Aug. 29) that riding his motorcycle is a spiritual experience. "You're kind of in communion with the countryside,' he said.

"I think it's an encounter with creation and an encounter with the creator." (Timothy Dolan's "Bikers' Service.)

Meanwhile, 30 miles northwest of here, Harley-Davidson riders rolled into a grassy field to wait for Mass.

Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan of Milwaukee, in long green robes, presided over all this leather and metal. Archbishop Dolan admitted that he did not know a lot about motorcyclists, but praised the hundreds of bikers assembled for their ''deep love'' of God's creation, for their special care for one another and for having ''an awful lot of trust in God's protection'' when on their Harleys

To the honking approval of the bikers, he held up the Harley-Davidson jacket he had been given. Then he blessed their bikes and threw holy water at them.  (Harley at 100: Mainstream Meets Mystique - New York Times.)

The "Cheesehead" hat worn by "Archbishop" Timothy Dolan during a putative "Mass" on September 8, 2002. (Please see the very pertinent commentary on this outrage that was posted on the Novus Ordo Watch site,  "Archbishop" Dolan's Cheesehead Homily.)

Oh, yes, the counterfeit church of conciliarism says "yea, yea" to false religions and to blasphemies and sacrileges and apostasies and to the nonexistent ability of the United Masonic Nations Organization to produce "peace" in the world.

The representatives of the counterfeit church of conciliarism say "yea, yea" to "Theistic evolutionism" and to the absurdities of "environmentalism."

The representatives of the counterfeit church of concilairism says "yea, yea" to the demands of Talmudic rabbis to convene meetings to address their concerns.

The representatives of the counterfeit church church of conciliarism says "yea, yea" to pro-abortion Catholics in public life by refusing to discipline them for their support of the mystical dismemberment of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the persons of innocent preborn children in their mothers' wombs. "Archbishop" Dolan himself has said that he prefers "discussion" to "confrontation" on this matter. What if a bishop in Nazi Germany said that he preferred "discussions" with Hitler rather than confront him on the rounding up of the Jews and others as they were sent to concentration camps? Oh, I'm sorry. It's not "correct" to make this comparison.

The representatives of the counterfeit church of conciliarism says "yea, yea" to the Dalai Lama and to treating the "clergy" of other false religions as legitimate representatives of God.

The currently reigning head of the counterfeit church of concilairism says "yea, yea" to blasphemy repeatedly, including calling a mountain in Japan, Mount Hiei, upon which the Buddhists offer worship to their false devils, as "sacred."

The representatives of the counterfeit church of conciliarism say "yea, yea" to the deconstruction of Our Lady's Fatima Message as the Shrine of the Most Holy Trinity in Fatima is turned into an "ecumenical center."

The currently reigning head of the counterfeit church of conciliarism says "yea, yea" to turning the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls into another ecumenical center, thereby mocking the work of Saint Paul the Apostle who wrote the following words under the direct inspiration of the Third Person of the Most Blessed Trinity, God the Holy Ghost:

Bear not the yoke with unbelievers. For what participation hath justice with injustice? Or what fellowship hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath the faithful with the unbeliever?

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as God saith: I will dwell in them, and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore, Go out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: And I will receive you; and I will be a Father to you; and you shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (2 Cor. 6: 14-18.)

Unfortunately, the conciliarists who say "yea, yea" to the apostasies of Modernism are the very ones who are believed by the leaders of the Society of Saint Pius X, including Bishop Richard Williamson, to "represent" the Catholic Church. This, as I have come to recognize so late in time, is impossible. It is precisely because the conciliarists do not say "yea, yea" to every point of doctrine as taught by the Catholic Church from time immemorial exactly as those points have been taught and understood throughout the ages without a shadow of change.

No one can be a member of Catholic Church while saying "no, no" to points of doctrine that have been defined by her magisterial authority and by saying "yea, yea" to propositions that she has condemned. It is without precedent in the history of the Catholic Church for a religious community that is considered to be acting outside of her official approval to seek to "convert" a reigning pontiff and his cardinals and bishops on various points of doctrine, no less for that community to have established its own marriage tribunal and to conditionally ordain men to the priesthood, signifying that there has been some defect in a liturgical rites approved by the Roman Pontiff for episcopal consecration and priestly ordination.

The Society of Saint Pius X has said "yea, yea" and "no, no" to the conciliarists in Rome over and over again when the truth of the matter is that a Catholic's response must always be "yea, yea" to a legitimate Successor of Saint Peter. That the false "pontiff" and his "cardinals" and "bishops" demand an unconditional "yea, yea" from Bishop Williamson on a point of secular history speaks volumes about how far removed those officials, who say "no, no" to Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on so many points, are from the Catholic Church.

Pope Saint Pius X, writing in Pascendi Dominci Gregis, September 8, 1907, explained that Modernists cling to "meaningless formulas" ("the hermeneutic of continuity and discontinuity" is one currently in vogue, courtesy of Ratzinger/Benedict) to justify their novelties:

In this way, with consummate audacity, they [the Modernists] criticize the Church, as having strayed from the true path by failing to distinguish between the religious and moral sense of formulas and their surface meaning, and by clinging vainly and tenaciously to meaningless formulas, while religion itself is allowed to go to ruin. "Blind'- they are, and "leaders of the blind" puffed up with the proud name of science, they have reached that pitch of folly at which they pervert the eternal concept of truth and the true meaning of religion; in introducing a new system in which "they are seen to be under the sway of a blind and unchecked passion for novelty, thinking not at all of finding some solid foundation of truth, but despising the holy and apostolic traditions, they embrace other and vain, futile, uncertain doctrines, unapproved by the Church, on which, in the height of their vanity, they think they can base and maintain truth itself.

Pope Saint Pius X would have never accepted anything other than "Yea, Yea" to Pascendi Dominci Gregis, an encyclical letter whose one hundredth anniversary was allowed to pass unnoticed by the man, Ratzinger/Benedict, who said the following in 1990:

The text [of the document Instruction on the Theologian's Ecclesial Vocation] also presents the various types of bonds that rise from the different degrees of magisterial teaching. It affirms - perhaps for the first time with this clarity - that there are decisions of the magisterium that cannot be the last word on the matter as such, but are, in a substantial fixation of the problem, above all an expression of pastoral prudence, a kind of provisional disposition. The nucleus remains valid, but the particulars, which the circumstances of the times influenced, may need further correction.

In this regard, one may think of the declarations of Popes in the last century [19th century] about religious liberty, as well as the anti-Modernist decisions at the beginning of this century, above all, the decisions of the Biblical Commission of the time [on evolutionism]. As a cry of alarm in the face of hasty and superficial adaptations, they will remain fully justified. A personage such as Johann Baptist Metz said, for example, that the Church's anti-Modernist decisions render the great service of preserving her from falling into the liberal-bourgeois world. But in the details of the determinations they contain, they became obsolete after having fulfilled their pastoral mission at their proper time.

(Joseph Ratzinger, "Instruction on the Theologian's Ecclesial Vocation," published with the title "Rinnovato dialogo fra Magistero e Teologia," in L'Osservatore Romano, June 27, 1990, p. 6, cited at Card. Ratzinger: The teachings of the Popes against Modernism are obsolete)

Has Joseph Ratzinger said "Yea, Yea" to the true popes of the Catholic Church? No. His Modernist conception of dogmatic truth has convinced him that he need not do so, which should teach a believing Catholic that he must not say "yea, yea" to his "legitimacy" as a Successor of Saint Peter.

There have been many prophecies concerning the times in which we are living. Oft-quoted on this site have been the prophecies of Anne Katherine Emmerich and Saint Nicholas of Flue. Another very insightful prophecy was made by Saint Nilus nearly 1,500 years ago, that is, in the first part of the Fifth Century A.D.:

After the year 1900, toward the middle of the 20th century, the people of that time will become unrecognizable. When the time for the Advent of the Antichrist approaches, people's minds will grow cloudy from carnal passions, and dishonor and lawlessness will grow stronger. Then the world will become unrecognizable.

People's appearances will change, and it will be impossible to distinguish men from women due to their shamelessness in dress and style of hair. These people will be cruel and will be like wild animals because of the temptations of the Antichrist. There will be no respect for parents and elders, love will disappear, and Christian pastors, Bishops and priests will become vain men, completely failing to distinguish the right-hand way from the left.

At that time, the morals and traditions of Christians and of the Church will change. People will abandon modesty, and dissipation will reign. Falsehood and greed will attain great proportions, and woe to those who pile up treasures. Lust, adultery, homosexuality, secret deeds and murder will rule in society.

Apostasy

At that future time, due to the power of such great crimes and licentiousness, people will be deprived of the grace of the Holy Spirit, which they received in Holy Baptism and equally of remorse.

The Churches of God will be deprived of God-fearing and pious pastors, and woe to the Christians remaining in the world at that time; they will completely lose their faith because they will lack the opportunity of seeing the light of knowledge from anyone at all. Then they will separate themselves out of the world in holy refuges in search of lightening their spiritual sufferings, but everywhere they will meet obstacles and constraints. And all this will result from the fact that the Antichrist wants to be Lord over everything and become the ruler of the whole universe, and he will produce miracles and fantastic signs.

Telephones, airplanes, submarines

He will also give depraved wisdom to an unhappy man so that he will discover a way by which one man can carry on a conversation with another from one end of the earth to the other. At that time men will also fly through the air like birds and descend to the bottom of the sea like fish. And when they have achieved all this, these unhappy people will spend their lives in comfort without knowing, poor souls, that it is deceit of the Antichrist. And, the impious one! – he will so complete science with vanity that it will go off the right path and lead people to lose faith in the existence of God in three hypostases.

The coming chastisement

Then the All-good God will see the downfall of the human race and will shorten the days for the sake of those few who are being saved, because the enemy wants to lead even the chosen into temptation, if that is possible... then the sword of chastisement will suddenly appear and kill the Perverter and his servants. (The prophecy of St. Nilus about our days)

Rather all-encompassing, wouldn't you say?

Father Sylvester Berry wrote the following eighty-eight years ago, prophesying events that would come true within thirty-seven years:

“In the forgoing chapter [12] St. John outlines the history of the Church from the coming of Antichrist until the end of the world . . . In this chapter he shows us the true nature of the conflict.  It shall be a war unto death between the Church and the powers of darkness in a final effort to destroy the Church and thus prevent the universal reign of Christ on earth.

“Satan will first attempt to destroy the power of the Papacy and bring about the downfall of the Church through heresies, schisms and persecutions that must surely follow . . . he will raise up Antichrist and his prophet to lead the faithful into error and destroy those who remain steadfast . . . . . . The Church, the faithful spouse of Jesus Christ, is represented as a woman clothed in the glory of divine grace . . .

" . . . In this passage there is an evident allusion to some particular son of the Church whose power and influence shall be such that Satan will seek his destruction at any cost.  This person can be none other than the Pope to be elected in those days.  The Papacy will be attacked by all the powers of hell.  In consequence the Church will suffer great trials and afflictions in securing a successor upon the throne of Peter.

“The words of St. Paul to the Thessalonians may be a reference to the Papacy as the obstacle to the coming of Antichrist:  ‘You know what withholdeth, that he may be revealed in his time.  For the mystery of iniquity already worketh; only that he who now holdeth, do hold until he be taken out of the way.  And then that wicked one shall be revealed.’

“ . . . St. John  . . . sees in heaven a red dragon with seven heads and ten horns . . . The dragon is Satan red with the blood of martyrs, which he will cause to flow. The meaning of the seven heads and ten horns must be sought in the description of the beast that represents Antichrist where they symbolize kings or worldly powers. (II Thessalonians 2:6-7)  . . . Satan’s attacks against the Church will be organized and carried out by the governments and ruling powers of those days.

“With the beast of Antichrist only the horns have diadems as symbols of royalty or governing power.  The heads are branded with names of blasphemy. (Apocalypse, 13:1)  Hence they symbolize the sins and errors that will afflict the Church . . . in this final struggle to prevent the universal reign of Christ all forms of sin and error will be marshaled against the Church . . .  all errors which have afflicted the Church may be summed up in these seven: Judaism, paganism, Arianism, Mohammedanism, Protestantism, rationalism, and atheism.

“The dragon is seen in heaven which is here a symbol of the Church, the kingdom of heaven on earth.  This indicates that the first troubles of those days will be inaugurated within the Church by apostate bishops, priests, and peoples, — the stars dragged down by the tail of the dragon.

“ . . .  The dragon stands before the woman, ready to devour the child that is brought forth.  In other words, the powers of hell seek by all means to destroy the Pope elected in those days.

“. . . It is now the hour for the powers of darkness.  The new-born Son of the Church is taken ‘to God and to his throne.’  Scarcely has the newly elected Pope been enthroned when he is snatched away by martyrdom. The ‘mystery of iniquity’ gradually developing through the centuries, cannot be fully consummated while the power of the Papacy endures, but now he that ‘withholdeth is taken out of the way.’  During the interregnum ‘that wicked one shall be revealed’ in his fury against the Church.”

“It is a matter of history that the most disastrous periods for the Church were times when the Papal throne was vacant, or when anti-popes contended with the legitimate head of the Church.  Thus also shall it be in those evil days to come.

“The Church deprived of her chief pastor must seek sanctuary in solitude there to be guided by God Himself during those trying days . . . In those days the Church shall . . . find refuge and consolation in faithful souls, especially in the seclusion of the religious life.

“ . . . Our Divine Savior has a representative on earth in the person of the Pope upon whom He has conferred full powers to teach and govern.  Likewise, Antichrist will have his representative in the false prophet who will be endowed with the plenitude of satanic powers to deceive the nations.

“ . . . As indicated by the resemblance to a lamb, the prophet will probably set himself up in Rome as a sort of antipope during the vacancy of the papal throne . . .

“ . . . The ‘abomination of desolation’ has been wrought in many Catholic churches by heretics and apostates who have broken altars, scattered relics of martyrs and desecrated the Blessed Sacrament.  At the time of the French Revolution a lewd woman was seated upon the altar of the cathedral in Paris and worshipped as the goddess of reason.  Such things but faintly foreshadow the abominations that will desecrate churches in those sorrowful days when Antichrist will seat himself at the altar to be adored as God.

“. . .Antichrist and his prophet will introduce ceremonies to imitate the Sacraments of the Church.  In fact there will be a complete organization - a church of Satan set up in opposition to the Church of Christ.  Satan will assume the part of God the Father; Antichrist will be honored as Savior, and his prophet will usurp the role of Pope.  Their ceremonies will counterfeit the Sacraments .” (Father E. Sylvester Berry, The Apocalypse of St. John, 1921, contained in the October, 2007, edition of Adsum.)

This is a pretty good description of our present circumstances as formerly Catholic churches have been desecrated by the Protestant and Masonic Novus Ordo service (and its ever-mutating novelties and perversities, especially during "papal" "liturgies") and as obeisance is paid by conciliar officials to the agents of Satan who adhere to the Talmud. And this is what the Society of Saint Pius X will be a full member of (along with the "Catholic" Charismatic Renewal, Cursillo, Focolare, the Sant'Egidio Community, the Shalom Catholic Community, the Chemin Neuf Community, the International Community of Faith and Light, Regnum Christi, Communion and Liberation, the Emmanuel Community, the Seguimi Lay Group of Human-Christian Promotion, and. among many, many others, including the Neocatechumenal Way) in the One World Ecumenical Church that accords such "esteem" to the symbols and the representatives of false religions if the "discussions" conducted by their leaders comes to a "successful" conclusion. Thus it will be that the members of the "communities" named parenthetically herein and the Society of Saint Pius X will all be part of one big "ecumenical" church without any of them having to agree completely on points of doctrine and worship. This has nothing to do with Catholicism.

Today is the First Sunday of Lent. Easter Sunday is six weeks away. Six full weeks, Sundays excepted, of prayer, penance, fasting, mortification and almsgiving. If we want to be part of building up the Church Militant on earth as the consecrated slaves of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, we must be deadly serious about making reparation for our sins, which are far, far more responsible for the state of the Church Militant and of the world-at-large than we realize or would like to admit. Father Benedict Edward Baur, O.S.B., writing in The Light of the World, explained in his meditation for the Saturday after Ash Wednesday how we must take this period of penance and reparation most seriously:

When the true spirit of Lent prevails, the divine life of grace flourishes in the soul, and all virtues and good works come rapidly to perfection. When the Christian acquires this spirit, he becomes a co-worker with Christ in building the kingdom of God, both in his own soul and in the Church. He contributes to the salvation of the whole race by example, by his prayers, and by his merits. He becomes a rugged stone upon which the rest of the structure can be built. His good works during Lent support the other members of the Church and furnish them with grace for enlightenment and conversion. We are a part of the whole, and the whole depends on us.

The converse is true: if we fail to bring forth good works and penance during Lent. What a loss to ourselves and to the whole Church! In the story of salvation we must be either builders or destroyers; either we gather or we scatter. There can be no neutrality. This is the mystery of the body of Christ. For this reason our Holy Mother the Church takes a serious view of the season of Lent. Would that we share her concern!

Both the desire to perform good works and the strength necessary to complete them comes from Christ. We are like the apostles in today's Gospel, confronted with adverse winds and unable to make progress in spite of our work at the oars. We shall ever have adverse winds and shall ever find obstacles to the spiritual life within ourselves. We possess a fallen nature, prone always toward evil and lacking an appreciation of the one thing necessary, divine life. In addition to our fallen nature, we must face the world with its enticements, its false principles and its faulty reasoning. To these obstacles Satan will add the weight of his cunning and immense power. How can we hope to overcome such great obstacles? The Gospel of today gives us cause for hope, for "He [Christ] went up to the mountain to pray." (Mark 6: 46). He is in heaven and in our tabernacles waiting to join our prayer to His to obtain for us the necessary help.

In the early morning Christ will come into our tiny ships in Mass and in Holy Communion. "And the wind ceased." Borne onward by His prayers and by those of His Church, strengthened by His coming to us in Holy Communion, we shall complete successfully our trying journey through the season of Lent, through the time of our earthly sojourn, and arrive one day at the blessed shores of eternity to enjoy an eternal Easter. (Father Benedict Baur, O.S.B., The Light of the World, Volume 1, B. Herder Book Publishing Company, pp. 312-313.)

Our goal is indeed to enjoy an unending Easter Sunday of glory in Paradise. Moses did not live to enter the Promised Land. He was, however, given a glimpse of it before he died. We may not live to see the restoration of the Church Militant on earth. Please God and by the graces He sends to us through the loving hands of Our Lady, she who is the Mediatrix of All Graces, the prayers we say, the sacrifices we make, the humiliations we endure, the mortifications we keep to ourselves and the fasting we undertake will play some small role in helping to plant a few seeds for the day when the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary will be made manifest and the Church Militant, now in the tomb as she lives out the events of her Divine Bridegroom and Mystical Head's Passion, Death and Burial, will rise again as this era of apostasy and betrayal is swept away once and for all.

Yes, our prayers, especially our praying of as many Rosaries each day as our states-in-life will permit, can bring about the restoration of the Church Militant and the restoration of the Social Reign of Christ the King.

Isn't it time to get really serious about Lent and to prepare well for this coming Easter on April 12 as a small way of preparing for that unending Easter Sunday of glory in Paradise as we say "yea, yea" to the Catholic Church and cleave to her true bishops and true priests who make no concessions to conciliarism at all?
