Hubris All Over The Map

by Thomas A. Droleskey

Main Entry: hu·bris Pronunciation: \'hyü-br?s\Function: noun Etymology: Greek hybris: Date: 1884: exaggerated pride or self-confidence.

There has been a veritable worldwide outbreak of hubris.

One of the chief practitioners of hubris is, of course, Barack Hussein Obama, the current occupant of the White House, who has pushed through a massive government takeover of the health-care industry and whose defenders how have the hubris to criticize anyone who is opposed to this takeover, saying that it is not a takeover at all. It takes a lot of hubris to claim that ObamaCare is not a government takeover of the health-care industry as its sheaves of pages are filled with regulations upon doctors and insurance companies and hospitals and ordinary Americans that turns control over an already utilitarian-based system over the course of time into a utilitarian-based system controlled in all but name by the apparatchiks of the Federal government of the United States of America. ObamaCare is not going to give us a "single-payer" government controlled health-care system along the models of those in the United Kingdom and Canada immediately. It will do so over the course of time if not repealed.

Many ordinary Americans see ObamaCare as what it is, a threat to their legitimate liberties, even though they, being steeped in the lies of naturalism, have responded with justifiable anger, although they are unable to see understand that Obama and ObamaCare are but the symptoms of the overthrow of the Social Reign of Christ the King that was wrought by the Protestant Revolution and institutionalized by the rise of Judeo-Masonry and the anti-Incarnational social revolutions of Modernity. A small handful of naturalists who have been angered by ObamaCare and the threat to legitimate liberties it represents have even issued threats of one sort or another to various members of the Democratic Party, prompting those who have felt threatened to issue statements of indignation about being called socialists and baby-killers and other appellations that happen to have the extra added advantage of being true. This is just more hubris.

Although readers of this site know that I am a critic of Republican Party naturalists just as much as Democratic Part naturalists as whichever naturalist liars who happen to be in power at a given time are the one who come in for closer scrutiny (I was as hard on William Jefferson Blythe Clinton as I was on George Herbert Walker Bush and as I am being on Barack Hussein Obama Obama as lies are lies no matter a politician's political affiliations are), it is nevertheless true that Democrats do tend to wrap themselves up in all manner of righteous indignation when they are criticized. They are fascists who brook no opposition and will stoop to whatever depths are necessary to discredit all opposition to their statist plans. They also tend to have very short memories as many of them have wished the most vile things on Republicans when they have been in power.

Mind you, readers of this site know full well of my relentless criticism of the anti-life, neoconservative policies of George Walker Bush. I did not, however, engage in the rhetoric of the naturalists of the "left" who opposed Bush for other reasons. Some of these critics went way over the top in wishing the most vile things to occur to the former president when he was in office between January 20, 2001, and January 20, 2009. And there was the case, I happen to recall of Alec Baldwin, who I believe is a baptized Catholic, who called for the stoning of the late United States Representative Henry Hyde after the Judiciary Committee of the United States House of Representatives voted in favor of three articles of impeachment against the morally corrupt, statist, pro-abort named William Jefferson Blythe Clinton on December 11, 1998:

Conan O’Brien: "Before we leave, I gotta ask you. It’s no secret that you are very political. You are a very political person. It’s no secret that you have actually had some associations with the Clintons. That you’re a liberal man and I thought you know today, this is a historic day and you’re one of the most politically active actors out there. What do you think?"

Alec Baldwin: "I was in Africa. I go to Africa. I mean ladies and gentlemen I am in Africa. For three months I am in the bush and I come back. I come back here and I come back to what? I mean what is happening right now as we speak? Right now the Judiciary Committee, the President has an approval rating of 68 percent. The President is very popular and things are going pretty good and they are voting to impeach the President. They voted on one article of impeachment already. And I come back from Africa to stained dresses and cigars and this and impeachment. I am thinking to myself in other countries they are laughing at us twenty four hours a day and I’m thinking to myself if we were in other countries, we would all right now, all of us together, [starts to shout] all of us together would go down to Washington and we would stone Henry Hyde to death! We would stone him to death! [crowd cheers] Wait! Shut up! Shut up! No shut up! I’m not finished. We would stone Henry Hyde to death and we would go to their homes and we’d kill their wives and their children. We would kill their families. [stands up screaming] What is happening in this country? What is happening? UGHHH UGHHH!!!!" ("Actor Alec Baldwin: "If we were in other countries, we would all right now, all of us together, all of us together would go down to Washington and we would stone Henry Hyde to death!)

Alec Baldwin said later that he meant his comments as a "joke." It's all hubris. Naturalists of the false opposite of the "left" reserve unto themselves the right to use all manner of foul demagoguery (that paragon of ethics, United States Representative Charles Bernard Rangel, D-New York, a pro-abortion Catholic who is also a thirty-third degree Freemason and is in perfectly "good standing" in the structures of the counterfeit church of conciliarism, was a particularly vicious critic of the policies of the late President Ronald Wilson Reagan and former President George Walker Bush) against the false opponents of the naturalist "right" while rising to righteous self-indignation when they get criticized.

Hubris all over the map.

ObamaCare is an exercise in what the anti-Catholic Freemason (I know, I know, this is a very redundant description) named Otto von Bismarck called "state socialism" in the 1870s as he sought to make the citizenry dependent upon the state for basic services, thus conditioning them to obey the edicts of the state without question as their legitimate liberties were taken away. A columnist put the matter very succinctly yesterday in Please Don't Call it 'State Socialism'.

Actually, the columnist is only half-right. Modern social engineering started with King Henry VIII after he had himself declared supreme head of the "church" in England in 1534, something that I pointed out in an article on this site in 2004:

The Catholic Church has taught traditionally that she has the divine right to be the ultimate arbiter on all matters that pertain to the administration of justice by the civil state. That is, the Catholic Church, either in the person of the Supreme Pontiff or of a national primate or a local bishop, has the right to interpose herself if a civil authority, whether individual or collective, proposes to do something that violates the binding precepts of the Divine positive law or the natural law--and/or promotes conditions that are deleterious to the sanctification and salvation of human souls, thus harming the common civil good of society. The Church has the right also to punish such civil authorities after the fact if such violations have taken place (say, for example, by excommunicating a civil leader or by placing an interdict on his country). Although never perfectly or consistently exercised, the power of the Church to curb the excesses of the civil state served as a brake in at least some instances during the Middle Ages on the despotic designs of various individuals. The Social Reign of Christ the King, more importantly, inspired such saintly leaders as Saint Edward the Confessor, Saint Henry, Saint Louis IX, and Saint Stephen of Hungary, among others, to scale the heights of personal sanctity so as to be able to be just stewards of Christ's social kingship, realizing that they would be accountable to Christ the King at the moment of their Particular Judgments for how they sought to administer justice in His Holy Name.

The modern state admits of only those checks on its exercise of power that are imposed upon it by the demands of the multitudes, in the case of so-called "republics" such as the United States of America, or the exigencies of ideological and/or programmatic agendas the state embraces at any given point as the contemporary equivalent of its state-sponsored religion. For example, the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was the first nation in the Twentieth Century to permit the execution of innocent children under cover of law (thereby "liberating" women from the family and extricating her from bondage to men and to bourgeois concepts of romantic love and child-bearing). The decimation of its population as a result of the Stalinist purges and World II necessitated a retreat from unrestricted baby for a brief time after World War II, something that was done for purely utilitarian reasons so that the country could be re-populated. Once enough babies had been produced, however, the commissars went back to the original policy. In other words, there are no binding or fixed limits that guide any modern state. Not even a constitutional republic has any such limits as such a system is populated by relativists and/or positivists who have contempt for Christendom and believe in that they are the arbiters of what is permissible and what is considered, at least for the moment, to be impermissible.

In actual point of fact, state-sponsored social engineering goes back in recent centuries to the time of King Henry VIII's England. The poor who had lived for a nominal annual fee on the monastery and convent lands (as they produced the food to sustain themselves, giving some to the monastery or convent) were essentially thrown off of those lands, where their families had lived for generations, in order to redistribute the Church properties Henry had stolen to those who supported his break from Rome. Henry quite cleverly created a class of people who were dependent upon him for the property upon which they lived and the wealth they were able to derive therefrom, making them utterly supportive of his decision to declare himself Supreme Head of the Church in England. Those of the poorer classes who had been thrown off of the monastery and convent lands were either thrown into prison (for being poor, mind you) or forced to migrate to the cities, where many of them lost the true Faith and sold themselves into various vices just to survive. The effects of this exercise of state-sponsored engineering are reverberating in the world today, both politically and economically. Indeed, many of the conditions bred by the disparity in wealth created by Henry's land grab in the Sixteenth Century would fester and help to create the world of capitalist and slave wage that so impressed a German emigre in London by the name of Karl Marx. Unable to recognize the historical antecedents of the real injustices he saw during the Victorian Era, Marx set about devising his own manifestly unjust system, premised on atheism and anti-Theism, to rectify social injustice once and for all. In a very real way, Henry of Tudor led the way to Lenin of Russia.

Otto von Bismarck, Chancellor of Germany in the aftermath of the Franco-Prussian War and the emergence of modern Germany, used the brute power of the state to create whole categories of citizens who were dependent upon its largesse for various favors. The whole concept of "social security" for the elderly was introduced by Bismarck, thereby taking the responsibility for the care of the elderly away from their grown children and shifting it to the state, thereby affording the grow children an opportunity to "enjoy" the fruit of their own labors without having to worry about caring for their parents and depriving themselves of various goodies. Bismarck encouraged the elderly to go on the government dole by insisting on a mandatory age for retirement, a subject I discussed over seven years ago now in an article in the printed pages of Christ or Chaos. This was a departure from the sensus Catholicus, which teaches us that we should be using the talents God has given us until we are no longer physically and/or mentally able to use them. The creation of an entire category of relatively able-bodied people who would spend the last years of their lives as wards of the state introduced a whole set of problems that have metastasized wildly in the past 130 years. Bismarck wanted to--and did in fact--create a culture of dependency and entitlement.

That Germany should be a proving grounds for social engineering should come as no surprise. The logical result of Martin Luther's prideful revolt against the Church the God-Man had founded upon the Rock of Peter, the Pope, was a Germany that answered to nothing except its own nationalistic interests, defined principally in economic and military terms. It was in the inter-war years in Germany when the Weimar Republic permitted doctors and scientists to engage in all manner of eugenic experimentations in an effort to create a "better" world for the German people. The notorious Margaret Sanger and other American eugenicists had a close kinship with these German experimenters, most of whom favored mandatory sterilization of various sorts of people and who held racialist theories that they tried to envelop into a mantle of scientific and social scientific respectability. Adolph Hitler's own eugenics program, which came to full bloom in 1939 and was opposed very vigorously by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Munster, Clemens von Galens, was merely an state-sponsored imposition of theories and goals that had occupied the time of many German scientists and doctors during the "democratic" Weimar Republic.

Hitler's Third Reich may have lost the military side of World War II. Hitler's utilitarianism, however, has prevailed. In a very real way, Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin were the big winners of World War II. Social engineering, which had many devotees in the United States in the latter part of the Nineteenth and early part of the Twentieth Centuries, including United States Supreme Court Associate Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, and mass murder have become institutionalized in western "democracies" and, obviously, in unapologetically totalitarian regimes. The fact that we are discussing human cloning and/or the killing of frozen embryonic human beings for their stem cells is just part and parcel of the diabolical logic of a world where the Social Reign of Christ the King and of Mary our Immaculate Queen is overthrown and replaced with the Reign of Man.

Then Secretary of the Interior James Watt, for example, was not wrong in 1983 ( see Watt Sees Reservations As Failure of Socialism) when he said that if one wanted to find an example of failed social engineering that it was not necessary to travel to the Soviet Union. All one had to do was to travel to one of our own Indian reservations, rife with alcoholism, drug addiction and various contagious diseases, the rotten fruit of the Federal government's social-engineering, which itself was the product of the failure to accept the approach that the great Father DeSmet and his fellow "black robes" (Jesuit fathers) used to such great success with the Indians. Mind you, this is just one example of how a specifically Catholic approach of dealing with the native peoples of this continent was replaced with one founded in paternalism and condescension, leaving no place for the Cross of the Divine Redeemer and the supernatural helps He has given to Holy Mother Church to be administered for the sanctification and salvation of all men in all circumstances until the end of time. All efforts at social engineering have failed in the United States and elsewhere. They will continue to fail. Indeed, they will continue to foster one monstrous development after another. (The Logic of Overthrowing Christ's Reign, written about nineteen months before the first article appeared on this site that was sympathetic to the sedevacantist position.)

Yes, it takes a great deal of hubris to claim that ObamaCare is not an exercise in statism and social engineering. It take even more hubris to refuse to recognize the simple fact that we have this monstrosity looking at us square in the face as a direct and inevitable result of the overthrow of the Social Reign of Christ the King that has but only one "end game:" the rise of the monster civil state of Modernity. And it is to this monster civil state, founded on false, naturalistic, anti-Incarnational, religiously indifferentist and semi-Pelagian principles, to which the lords of the counterfeit church of conciliarism have made their "reconciliation."

Hubris is also being exhibited by Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI and his loyal defenders in the wake of the coverage being given by The New York Times, which, of course, has its own anti-Catholic agenda to pursue, to the false "pontiffs" actions, both as the conciliar "archbishop" of Munich an Freising in 1980 and as the prefect of the conciliar Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith from 1981-2005, with regard to priests and presbyters accused of moral crimes. Ratzinger/Benedict noted yesterday in his "homily" on Palm Sunday that Catholics must have the "faith in God that leads one towards the courage of not allowing oneself to be intimidated by the petty gossip of dominant opinion" (Benedict Signals Won't Be Intimidated By Abuse Critics).

Petty gossip? The systematic abuse of over two hundred deaf boys by a priest who was deemed "too valuable" a fund-raiser by his superiors to be disciplined? Petty gossip? Talk about hubris all over the map. Petty gossip? What's next, Benedict, telling people not to look at their e-mails or answer their phones? Petty gossip?

It also takes hubris for Ratzinger/Benedict and his defenders to keep focusing on the symptoms of the scandals that have enveloped them as the predatory abuse of children and adults by priests and presbyters is the result of the worldwide recruitment, retention and promotion of sodomites into the conciliar clergy and hierarchy. That's the issue that Ratzinger/Benedict and his defenders refuse to address, and I, for one, will keep reminding the eight readers (all right, all right, more like 182 or so who actually access individual articles as opposed to those who glance at the home page before taking their freeloading eyes elsewhere--smile) of this site of this simple fact for as long as the conciliarists continue to deflect attention away from it by focusing on the abuse rather than on what has actually caused it.

We have much for which to make reparation this Holy Week as we call to mind how our sins caused Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to suffer in His Sacred Humanity during His Passion and Death and how they caused Our Most Blessed Mother to suffer in perfect compassion with Him. We can, however, plant  a few seeds for the triumph of the humility and meekness of Christ the King in our own hearts and souls so that we can, as the consecrated slaves of the King of Love of Mount Calvary through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary our Immaculate Queen, help to usher in a day when the likes of Obama and the conciliarists will be vanquished and the likes of Saint Louis IX, King of France, who heard three Masses a day as he attempted to rule according to the Mind of Christ the King as He has discharged It exclusively in His Catholic Church, will be found in plentiful supply once again.

May the time that we spend before Our Lord's Real Presence this week and the Rosaries we pray and the Stations of the Cross that we make help us to die to self more and more so that we can lift high the Cross in our own daily lives, being ready at all times to meet Our King as our Divine Judge when we will have breathed our last, placing our confidence in Our Lady, who we ask in each Hail Mary to pray for us now and at the hour of our deaths.

Isn't it time to pray a Rosary now?

Immaculate Heart of Mary, triumph soon.
